We highly recommend that you consult your local Information Technology (IT) specialist for more information. We want to assist in taking your practice to the latest and best in management software. Your specific configuration may vary depending on your practice. This information may be subject to change. File Server / SQL Server Requirements: Remote Connection Unattended access to the server Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP), Logmein, or Teamviewer. Unattended access must be configured with administrative rights for Dolphin Support two weeks prior to the 1 st training. Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) is free and can be configured to allow access to the server to all PC s on the LAN running Dolphin. Hi-Speed Internet access is required (DSL equivalent). Operating System Server 2008 R2 or Windows 7 SP1 (Stand alone, for 5 concurrent Windows Server 2016 Standard Premium Add-On is available which includes an additional license for Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard, allowing you to deploy a second server on your network; Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard Edition: SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard (purchase of CALS required. Note: We do not support Windows Server 2016 Essentials edition. Workgroup / Domain Workgroup (non-server OS with 5 concurrent Active Directory Domain When a Server operating system is used, a Domain is required. The Dolphin software performance is highly influenced by Disk I/O speeds and we recommend SSD hard drives for both Workstations and Servers. Video/Graphics 1024x768 1280x1024 or Monitor 15 monitor XGA (1024x768) or resolution required 17 (1280x1024) monitor or Archive/Backup Required Required You are responsible for making proper backups of your Dolphin data, which includes database, image files, documents, letter templates, etc. Dolphin recommends implementing a proper backup protocol including offsite data backups. Page 2 Antivirus Required Required We recommend that you have an anti-virus software installed, and maintaining the current update to your subscription is extremely important. Exceptions must be added for the Dolphin file directories on the Server and all workstations. Word Processor MS-Word 2007 MS-Word 2016 Dolphin Management officially support MS Office 2016; Microsoft (MS) Word is required if you use the Dolphin Letters System (DLS). We are compatible with MS Office 2016, 2013, 2010, and 2007 (32-bit version) in the Home and Business, or Professional editions. If you are running a 64-bit edition of the Windows Operating System you may still use Office 32-bit edition. Office 365 subscriptions require desktop versions of MS Word installed. Installation of Office in a Terminal Server configuration may require volume licensing. See Microsoft for details. Thin Clients Thin Client/ Remote Desktop Services is an acceptable alternative to using PCs as workstations. You can purchase thin client machines or use older PCs as terminal server clients. Remote Office Configuration (connecting to the main office) Dolphin Management must be connected via Remote Desktop Services Dolphin management is not supported running through a WAN directly. If you plan to capture images from the remote office a local PC and a VPN is required. For sites with 10 or fewer simultaneous remote connections, one server running Windows Server 2008 Standard R2 and SQL Server 2008 Standard is acceptable. We recommend 128MB RAM dedicated to each remote connection. For sites with more than 10 simultaneous remote connection, we recommend two servers. One Server running Small Business Server 2008 Premium and one server running Windows Server 2008 Standard R2 or Windows Server 2012 Standard with 128MB RAM allocated for each remote connection. Please contact Dolphin Technical Support for details on configuring your system to use Thin Client technology or Remote Office Configuration. Broadband Speeds Single Office Broadband Speeds (for Dolphin Support) or faster Multi-Office Broadband Speeds We recommend 128KB of dedicated upload speed per user session at the main office. We recommend 128KB of dedicated download speed per user session at the remote office. No Dial-up or satellite connections allowed. They should be able to be connected to from the server s Remote Desktop connection. VNC cannot be used as a way to connect directly from outside the LAN. Digital Persona One Touch software must be installed to support fingerprint scanning via terminal services. Installation of Office in a Terminal Server configuration may require volume licensing. For satellite locations we require printers to connect to a Print Server. /Label DYMO 400 Series For multiple labels, we support the Avery 5160 Label this can be printed on the general printer Document Scanner Scanner TWAIN Driver Compatible Fujitsu, Xerox and Canon all offer TWAIN compatible scanners. Dolphin cannot guarantee full compatibility with all TWAIN compatible scanners Be aware the resolution of documents scanned greatly affects disk space used. Scan as JPG or PDF rather than BMP or TIFF. Dolphin Mobile Dolphin Mobile requires Dolphin Management version 4.5 Service Pack. The Dolphin Mobile application is available on the App Store or Google Play store. There is an Ocean activation fee to enable each mobile device on a system.
