Do you have a Hard Disk Drive (HDD) with IDE or with Serial ATA connection? IDE Serial ATA 4
Preparing an IDE HDD You need to have the following parts from the adapter kit: 5 USB cable HDD USB adapter
1. Shutdown the x120. 2. Remove the upper panel to get access to the control part of the x120. 3. Remove the 40-pol IDE flat cable from the HDD, leave the power connector in place. 4. Connect the USB cable to the adapter. 5. Connect the adapter to the HDD. 4 5 6
6. The adapter has now been installed. 7
7. Switch on the x120 Power will be supplied by the internal PC power supply to the HDD. 8. Switch on your Notebook. 9. Connect the USB connector of the adapter to your Notebook. 10. You have now a connection with the HDD. 9 8 HDD in x120 USB adapter Your notebook
Use of Macrium Reflect 1. Start the program 2. Confirm the User Account Control message with Yes 9

What do you want to do? Backup Restore 11 Backup means you make a copy of the Hard Disc Drive and store the backup file on your connected PC Restore means you put a Backup from your connected PC to the Hard Disc Drive in the instrument
4. Click on the USB disk to move the action Buttons below the disk. 4. Click here on your PC to see action buttons below the disk. 12

6. Select a folder and a name and press <Finish> 6-2. Uncheck if you want to select your own filename 6-1. Select folder 6-3. Edit filename 14 6-4. Click Finish

10. Please close the application now 11. You can find the created file in the folder you specified. 12. Switch the x120 off via the main switch. 13. Remove the USB adapter from the HDD and reconnect the original cable from the x120. 18
14. Switch on the x120 by the main switch 15. The x120 should start normally. 16. The x120 image file on your PC is normally just 1 GB and will fit perfectly on a USB stick. 17. Copy it to a USB stick. 18. Leave the USB stick on top of the HDD inside the unit and you are prepared for the next HDD crash. You are ready with your backup! Well done! 19

Preparing an IDE HDD You need to have the following parts from the adapter kit: 32 USB cable SATA cable HDD USB adapter
1. Shutdown the x120. 2. Remove the upper panel to get access to the control part of the x120. 3. Remove the red SATA cable from the HDD, leave the power connector in place. 4. Connect the USB and the SATA cable to the adapter. 5. Connect the adapter to the HDD. 4 5 33
