The Office of Information Technology has implemented Windows 10, a brand new Operating System (OS) for the campus community, as part of a CUNY initiative to provide modern technology to our Students, Faculty and Staff. Windows 10 has a multitude of features that help users navigate the age of technology by pairing the look and feel of Windows 7 with the superior performance of Windows 8. This guide will help users through some of these features. Windows 10 Key Features Start menu In Windows 10 to access the Start menu, select in the lower-left corner of the taskbar. Advanced Features Multitasking Snap windows With Windows 10 you can have up to four programs snapped on the same screen; Windows will even suggest how to fill the gaps with other open apps and programs. To snap, click and hold the top of the window and drag it to either the side or corner of the screen. You ll see a shadow of where the window will snap; release the window to snap it into place. If you have other apps or programs running on your desktop, Windows will suggest how to fill the remaining space. Simply click an app or program that you would like to fill the gap instantly. By default, the app or program will open as a half screen; however, if you would like it to fill a quadrant, just click and hold the top of the window and drag into an open corner. You can also hold the windows key and press an arrow direction to snap the currently open application to an area on your screen. Task view A new feature in Windows 10 is the Task view button which helps you quickly switch between them. Click Task view to see all of your running apps and programs; select any item to open it.
