Installation instructions Installing Command View for Tape Libraries as a new install NOTE: HP Command View for Tape Libraries 3.0.00 and later uses Adobe Flash Player. If you have an internet connection, then from the Command View TL server, launch http://get.adobe.com/ flashplayer/ and download flash player with an administrator account. Do not upgrade to Command View Tape Library 3.0.00 or later if you are unable to install flash player. If you have issues in installing Adobe Flash Player, uninstall and reinstall it. Right-click the executable file and select Run as administrator. The latest CVTL version is available at www.hp.com/support/cvtl. To install and run this software on Windows Server 2008 or later, you must either login as Administrator and right-click and run as Administrator, or perform the following steps: 1. Become a member of the Administrators group using the Server Manager (Start All Programs Administrative Tools Server Manager). 2. If prompted by Internet Explorer, add the hostname of the management station to your Trusted Sites Zone. 3. Launch the Command View TL installer by right-clicking on the executable and selecting Run as Administrator. The Windows Management Instrumentation service must be started before installation or uninstallation of Command View TL. No changes are required to remotely browse to a library or management station. Install the Command View for Tape Libraries upgrade CAUTION: Command View TL 3.0.00 and later cannot upgrade any libraries with i240 or older Interface Manager firmware. Upgrade to 2.8.00, then install the bundle, and then install Command View TL 3.0.00 to 3.5.00. Command View 3.6.00 can only be upgraded from 3.5.00, and Command View 3.8.00 can only be upgraded from 3.6.00 or later. If you are upgrading from a Command View TL version earlier than 2.0.00 (or Command View ESL prior to version 1.5), follow this upgrade path: 2.32 or 2.8.00 to 3.5.00 to 3.6.00 to 3.8.00. Command View TL 3.8.00 upgrade is supported from versions 3.6.00 or later. Command View TL 3.8.00 upgrade is supported from versions 3.6.00 or later. All previous settings (database, device list, support tickets, proxy settings and so forth) are migrated during the upgrade. Upgrade Adobe Flash player to a newer version. For information on CVTL installation, see Installation instructions (page 7). Installation instructions 7

NOTE: If Command View TL is uninstalled using add remove programs and the data base and files were retained, install the same version of Command View TL before migration. To install Command View TL, you must uninstall the database and all files. Installing the Interface Manager upgrade If upgrading your Interface Manager from an I231 or lower release, ensure that the FTP server on the Interface Manager is clear of all extra files. CAUTION: intervention. Failure to clear these files may result in damage to the library and the need for service 1. If you have a firewall that prevents FTP access, disable the firewall. 2. Use FTP to connect to the Interface Manager: 1. Open a command shell on any PC connected to the LAN. 2. Enter the command ftp ipaddress, where ipaddress is the IP address of the Interface Manager card. 3. Log in with the user name ftp and no password. 3. Run del <filename> for each file to delete. CAUTION: HP recommends that an HP Service engineer perform any upgrade of your Interface Manager from an I2XX or lower release. The HP Service engineer will upgrade to version I232 using CVTL 2.3.20 and the corresponding firmware bundle using the ESL c01464098 or EML c01463974 engineering document using CVTL 2.3.20. After the library is an I232 and the corresponding bundles, Command View TL can be updated to 2.8.00. The library can then be downloaded to I274. I232 and I240 cannot be upgraded with Command View TL 3.0.00 and above. 8 Installation instructions

Use advisory ESL-e c01464098 or EML c01463974 to upgrade directly to I232 and CVTL 2.8.00 from any revision less than I232. Then, perform the upgrade to I270 using CVTL 2.8.00. CAUTION: Customers upgrading from HP StorageWorks ESL E-Series library firmware 6.20 to 6.22 or higher via Interface Manager or Command View TL in an HP StorageWorks ESL E-Series library will encounter the following message: Interface Manager (IM) unable to verify whether firmware update completed or not, please check the device. Wait until the library Operator Control Panel indicates the upgrade is complete. This will take about 20 minutes. The upgrade will complete with no issues. This error will not occur once the firmware is fully installed in the library. Failure to wait may result in damage to the library and the need for service intervention. CAUTION: ESL E-Series libraries that have had the cabinet controller or cabinet controller smart media/daughter board replaced without having library defaults reset afterwards, must restore library defaults prior to upgrading to 7.X or higher firmware (first included in the 2.4 or higher firmware bundle). If the history of the library is unknown, it is recommended that library defaults be reset prior to loading 7.0 to be safe. Library defaults are different than restoring the Interface Manager defaults; restoring library defaults must be done from the front panel (Operator Control Panel) of the library in the Setup menu. CAUTION: Customers upgrading from HP EML libraries from below 1200 need to go to 1200 first. Secondly if the firmware is below 1407 then they need to upgrade to 1407 next. Then they can upgrade to the latest firmware. EML libraries might not show the latest revision is loaded until the IFC is also rebooted if no host commands were sent to the library after the upgrade. This configuration data includes, but is not limited to: Management Station information Library settings Support contact information Interface Manager settings Partition settings (if configured) Secure Manager settings (if configured) Network settings SNMP settings License settings Migrations are increasingly complicated and HP strongly recommends that any migration be performed by an HP Service engineer using ESL c01473045 and EML c01439962 migration documents. All migrations to the I270 and 2.8.00 code bundle must be preceded by upgrade to the I232 and 2.3.0 code bundle (migration instructions are included in the readme file for I232). CAUTION: Upgrading to 2.x is not supported for ESL9000 libraries. These libraries can be fully managed using Command View for Tape Libraries 2.x. but will not accept the I200 or higher Interface Manager code. ESL9000 libraries will work only with version I182 Interface Manager code and CVTL 2.6.00. Install the Interface Manager I274 release and 3.7.00 firmware bundle (EML and ESL E-Series Libraries) NOTE: You must be at the I232 and 2.32 firmware bundle or higher before proceeding with the upgrades to the I274 and 3.7.00 bundle. If at a revision lower than I232 or 2.32 firmware bundle first migrate to I232 and 2.32 firmware bundle to proceed. You must be at i250 and the 2.50 Frimware Bundle or above to download with Command View TL 3.0.00 or later. Installation instructions 9

NOTE: If the EML library is below 1200 download 1200 first. Then if the EML library is below 1407 download 1407 first. Otherwise the RLC might need to be replaced. Three EML library versions are included in the latest firmware bundle. 1. Save the existing configuration to a safe location before performing any Interface Manager upgrade. 2. Download and unpack the 3.7.00 EML or ESL E-Series firmware bundle and Interface Manager firmware I274 to the Command View for Tape Libraries client (for example, the desktop or laptop). Verify that the library, interface controller, drive (optional), and the Interface Manager firmware files are downloaded. 3. If your Interface Manager is at I232 or later, do not perform this step. Continue at the next step. This step tests the FTP session, and verifies that it can locate the files residing in the Interface Manager that need to be deleted. a. Create a text file with Notepad or WordPad and save it at test.txt. b. FTP to the Interface Manager as anonymous with no password. c. Enter put test.txt or copy the test.txt file to the Interface Manager. d. The ls, nlist, or dir command should indicate thattest.txt was just uploaded. If test.txt is not seen, then disable the firewall. FTP commands may not work correctly with certain firewalls (for example, Symantec Endpoint in Windows XP). e. Execute an ls, nlist, or dir command to verify that the directory does not have any entries. If it does, use the del <filename> command until all other files are removed. This will free up compact flash (CF) memory used by support tickets or saved configurations. If there is not enough CF memory, the Interface Manager migration might fail. NOTE: If you cannot see test.txt, stop downloading at this point or have a compact flash ready in case the download fails. 4. Use Command View for Tape Libraries to update the Interface Manager firmware. Follow the upgrade instructions to migrate directly to I274. 5. Use Command View for Tape Libraries to upgrade: to 5.9.63 firmware for the 2GB Fibre Channel Interface Controllers to 5.9.77 firmware for the 4Gb Fibre Channel Interface Controllers 6. Use Command View for Tape Libraries to upgrade ESL G3, ESL E-Series, EML E-Series library firmware. If the EML E-Series is below 1200, upgrade to 1200. If the EML E-Series library is below 1407, upgrade to 1407. The EML library firmware can now be update to the newer firmware. 7. Verify that all of the drives are empty. 8. Upgrade the drive firmware, if the drive firmware in the 3.7.00 bundle is newer than the drive firmware that is in your drives. 9. Save the new configuration to a safe location after performing any Interface Manager upgrade. Downgrading to previous releases Downgrading your Interface Manager to a previous release requires some special considerations: IMPORTANT: Remove any hardware that is not supported by the firmware release you are downgrading to. Failure to do so can cause the library to become inoperable. 10 Installation instructions

Multiple versions of the Command View for Tape Libraries software cannot be installed on the same computer at the same time. To use an older release of Command View for Tape Libraries, uninstall the current version before installing the older version. After performing the downgrade, you will need to restore system defaults through the restore system defaultscommand in the command line interface or through the Restore Factory Defaults page on the Support tab in Command View for Tape Libraries. CAUTION: All of your custom configuration information will be lost. If you have previously saved a configuration at the older release, you can easily restore this configuration after you have downgraded your Interface Manager through the restore system configcommand in the command line interface or through the Save / Restore page on the Configuration tab in Command View for Tape Libraries. Version 3.6.00 The configurations to setup Multiple Email Address the coma separator did not work. Modified to a ; separator that now works. Version 3.5.00 Version 3.1.00 Command View TL installation will continue if any version of PostGreSQL is already installed by any application. The cabling view for ESL-E and EML were showing the robot link connection is down when the robot does not have a link connection. Postgre would not install, non English Windows OS "users" group is different word. Upgraded to Apache server 6.0.35. Fixed an issue that occurs in multiple session instances where an added host is edited in one session causing the host to be shifted in the other session. Fixes in Interface Manager firmware version I274 Rebooting the Interface Manager after turning the auto support ticket feature on or off from the CLI is no longer required. The CLI session is no longer terminated if out-of-range port numbers are given for the CLI command Set Interface Hostport. An error message is now displayed. Fixed an issue so that It is now possible to set IPV6 destinations for SNMP traps. This can be done through the CLI command Set Net Snmptrap or through the CVTL GUI with the SNMP Alerts settings Removed the site command from the CLI command show system contact, since it was using the same database entry as the location command. Other parts of the CLI only have the location command. Fixed an issue where library power-on SCSI Unit Attentions are no longer recorded in library support tickets (ALM 220). Fixed an issue so that It is now possible to specify the name of the configuration file when performing a Restore System Config command from the CLI. 14 Previous Version Fixes

Version 3.0.1 Fixed an issue so that if a drive reboot fails during a Restore Defaults the Interface Manager will still be rebooted Fixed an issue where Show Drive Info IP now correctly displays drive numbers for drive numbers 10 and above. Modified the support ticket code for LTO 6 drives to use the drive s snapshot feature, rather than individual SCSI commands Fixes in Interface Manager firmware version I273 Updated the SNMP server to a much newer version. This fixes all known SNMP-related memory leaks. To reduce memory consumption, the SNMP log file /var/log/snmpd.log is no longer created. When updating to I273 firmware and later, if the files /var/log/snmpd.log and/or lastlog.log are present, they will be automatically removed. Fixed issue where the Interface Controllers FRU Wizard would not always process all new Interface Controllers, and could unexpectedly move the SIPP master. Fixed the drive sort order for the Show Host Access CLI command. Changed the reporting process when errors occur during encryption enrollment to a SKM/ESKM. Now, if there is any error, the status will show that encryption is not enabled. Fixed an issue where EML libraries could turn on Ethernet Broadcasting after a Restore System Defaults. If custom LUN mappings are selected when configuring host access, and an Interface Controllers is started with a LUN number near 127, auto-populated LUNs will wrap to zero after reaching 127. Fixed an issue where if a directory in the Interface Manager that normally contains optional scripts becomes corrupted, the directory will automatically be cleaned up when an Interface Manager code update is performed. Fixed the column alignment when running the CLI command show mgmt log event. Version 3.0.00 Fixed an issue where licenses could show up in the Un-managed Licenses section of the License Key Summary tab. Generated support ticket details can now be viewed in the browser. Fixes in Interface Manager firmware version I272 Fixes for numerous CLI formatting errors. Fixed a potential issue where a Failed to Migrate Drive error could be reported when using the Drive Update Wizard to migrate a LTO1, LTO2, or LTO3 drive to a LTO4 or LTO5 drive. The error was most likely to occur on a partitioned library. Corrected handling of the restore config operation. Now, a config file created up to two major revisions prior to the current firmware can be restored. Fixed an issue where collecting a support ticket from an LTO3 drive could result in a blank ticket. Fixed an issue so that it is no longer possible to assign 192.168.2.xxx IP addresses to EML libraries; this IP address range is not compatible with hardware in an EML library. Fixed an issue so it is no longer possible to set the IP broadcast address on EML libraries. Fixed an issue where switching between IPV6 and IPV4 in a single operation, on an EML library, the OCP would not show the IPV4 address. Previous Version Fixes 15

When a SNMP Trap String is modified in the CVTL GUI, the new Trap String now takes effect immediately. SNMP read requests to unsupported MIB identifiers no longer cause the SNMP log file to grow. SNMP reads of the standard system MIB now return correct values for host name, system location, and contact. The CLI command Show Library Topology now reports correct drive information. ESL libraries will now automatically trigger cleaning tape tickets. ESL and EML event codes are now sent as SNMP Traps, for Remote Support. When performing a manual migration from a SKM encryption server to an eskm encryption server, performing a Validate SKM Connectivity operation will update the displayed key manager type. Version 2.8.00 Command View TL no longer calculates read margins on small transfer sizes because the data is not accurate. Command View TL now requires Java Runtime Environment (JRE) version 1.6.0, Update 24, also known as 6.0. The TapeAssure Overview page now shows the following message for libraries that are I250 or lower: The libraries need a firmware upgrade to be TapeAssure compatible...
