Preface Security information Siemens provides products and solutions with industrial security functions that support the secure operation of plants, systems, machines and networks. In order to protect plants, systems, machines and networks against cyber threats, it is necessary to implement and continuously maintain a holistic, state-of-the-art industrial security concept. Siemens products and solutions only form one element of such a concept. Customer is responsible to prevent unauthorized access to its plants, systems, machines and networks. Systems, machines and components should only be connected to the enterprise network or the internet if and to the extent necessary and with appropriate security measures (e.g. use of firewalls and network segmentation) in place. Additionally, Siemens guidance on appropriate security measures should be taken into account. For more information about industrial security, please visit (http://www.siemens.com/industrialsecurity). Siemens products and solutions undergo continuous development to make them more secure. Siemens strongly recommends to apply product updates as soon as available and to always use the latest product versions. Use of product versions that are no longer supported, and failure to apply latest updates may increase customer s exposure to cyber threats. To stay informed about product updates, subscribe to the Siemens Industrial Security RSS Feed under (http://www.siemens.com/industrialsecurity). Manual, 09/2016, A5E37967003-AA 5

Product overview 2.2 Functions 2.2 Functions Introduction Below is a brief overview of the operating modes of the ports and other functions of the IO-Link master EM 4 IO-LINK HF. IO-Link In IO-Link mode, the port is in IO-Link communication. There are three data transmission rates in this operating mode: COM1 with 4.8 kbaud, COM2 with 38.4 kbaud and COM3 with 230.4 kbaud. The data transmission rate is dependent on the utilized IO-Link device. The IO-Link Master and the IO-Link Device used automatically negotiate the maximum data transmission rate at startup. DI In DI mode, a port of the IO-Link Master behaves like a standard DI. If you have not yet configured the IO-Link master with S7-PCT, all ports are in DI mode (default setting). DQ In DQ mode, a port of the IO-Link Master behaves like a standard DQ. Disabled In disabled mode, the respective port of the IO-Link master is disabled. Firmware update You can perform firmware updates for the IO-Link master. Additional information about firmware updates for ET 200pro can be found in the ET 200SP Distributed I/O System operating instructions, chapter "Maintenance and service", section "Firmware update" on the Internet (https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/21210852). 12 Manual, 09/2016, A5E37967003-AA

Product overview 2.2 Functions Master Backup The "IO_LINK_MASTER" function block is used to read all relevant IO-Link device and IO-Link master parameters. These can be stored retentively at a central location, such as in a data block in the IO controller. The status of the IO-Link devices or IO-Link ports stored in the IO-Link master can be restored with the "IO_LINK_MASTER" function block. As a result, the IO-Link ports and the IO-Link master are configured with the values stored in the master backup. A typical application is the restoration of parameters after replacement of the IO-Link master. Note Availability Note that the Master Backup function is available only for IO-Link devices that are specified for the IO-Link Standard as of V1.1. You will find information on the Master Backup and Master Restore functions in section "Master backup" of chapter "Integration into the automation system" of the IO-Link System (https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/65949252) function manual. 4.2 Address space Address space of the Electronic Module EM 4 IO-LINK HF The maximum size of the input and output addresses of the Electronic Module EM 4 IO-LINK HF is 32 bytes each. You specify the assignment of the IO-Link devices to the address space in S7-PCT. Choice of address spaces The Electronic Module EM 4 IO-LINK HF has a data consistency width of 32 bytes. Within the high limit of 32 bytes input and 32 bytes output for the entire module, additional I/O data lengths are possible. You can choose the address spaces for I/O data in the following byte scaling: 1I / 1O 2I / 2O 4I / 4O 8I / 0O 8I / 8O 16I / 16O 32I / 32O Manual, 09/2016, A5E37967003-AA 17
