Please read these release notes carefully. Updating the operating system and BONGO (MCU) firmware Installing the Windows Installer Package Installing the operating system on a mobile device Configuring the language on the mobile device Operating system release notes BONGO (MCU) release notes Legal Notices Updating the operating system and BONGO (MCU) firmware The latest operating system firmware version is 1.0.8. The latest BONGO (MCU) version is 89. To identify which versions are installed on your handheld, and to determine if your operating system and BONGO firmware need to be updated, tap Start / Settings / System / System Information, then look at the Firmware version number and the MCU listed under the Version tab. If the Firmware shows a version earlier than 1.0.8 (Build 385) and the MCU (also known as Bongo) shows a version earlier than 0x89, follow the instructions below to update the firmware. Version 1.0 Revision A May 2014

C CAUTION This process re-installs the operating system, and resets your device to factory defaults. This will erase ALL data, installed applications, and settings stored on the handheld, except for any data or applications that are part of the operating system or are stored on a memory card. To quickly and easily restore data, synchronize the handheld with a computer before performing the update. Once the update is complete, resynchronize the handheld with the computer. The operating system installation file is compatible with all Trimble Juno T41, Juno 5, and Spectra Precision T41 handhelds, and the Trimble Slate controller, that have the Windows Embedded Handheld 6.5 operating system. You will not need a new Windows Embedded Handheld 6.5 license code. The installer enables you to re-install the operating system and configure it for one of the 10 supported languages: Chinese (Simplified), English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, or Spanish. Installing the Windows Installer Package 1. Download and save the Windows Installer Package http://trl.trimble.com/dscgi/ds.py/get/file- 712222/Juno_5_T41_FWUpdate_V1.0.8_B385_LP.msi to your laptop or PC. 2. Ensure that there are no handhelds connected via USB to your laptop or PC. 3. Open the Windows Installer Package on your computer to begin the installation. Click Next. 4. Select I accept the terms in the License Agreement, and then click Next. 5. Click the Install icon to perform a complete installation. 6. Click Install. You may need to wait several minutes while the file installs. 7. Click Finish. When the Windows Installer Package file is installed on the computer, you can then install the operating system onto your mobile device (Juno T41, Juno 5, Spectra Precision T41 handheld, or Trimble Slate controller) at any time by launching the Firmware Update Wizard. Installing the operating system on a mobile device 1. Open the Firmware Update Wizard; go to Start / All Programs / Trimble / Juno_5_T41_FWUpdateV1.0.8_LP / Juno_5_T41 Firmware Update Wizard. 2. Click Next, then click Next again. 3. Place the mobile device in USB mode by doing a Soft Reset; hold down the power button until you see the Power menu, let go of the power button, then tap Reset. As soon as you see the Trimble splash screen, press the Windows key, then the OK key. 4. Connect the mobile device to your laptop or PC with the USB cable provided with the device. 5. Click Next, then click Next again. 6. Select I accept the terms in the License Agreement, and then click Next. 7. When the installation is complete, click Next. 8. Click Finish to close the Firmware Update Wizard. RELEASE NOTES 2
