Developing the NFC Technology SIM is best suited as the Secure Element to host trusted applications _ Portable _ Standardised _ Long life cycle Specify a secure, multi-application execution environment on the SIM and an Over The Air capability to download and manage applications _ Joint development of specifications for SIM, Terminal and OTA communication for mobile NFC _ Gemalto, Giesecke and Devrient, Vodafone _ Open Guidelines, Standards 5 Turning NFC into Reality - Touch and Travel Deutsche Bahn / Vodafone Germany Transport Initiative announced at CEBIT 2007: _ Mobile phone as THE ticket for ALL public transport _ A simple and customer-friendly eticketing system _ An economic system due to low infrastructure costs Hannover Hbf Hannover Messe Wolfsburg Peine Helmstedt Braunschweig Stendal B- Spandau Magdeburg Brandenburg Potsdam alle Bus-, Tram-, S-Bahn und RB/RE-Haltestellen B- Gesundbrunnen B- Wannsee Berlin Hbf B-Südkreuz Berlin S-, U- und RB/RE-Netz (ab 2008) 6 3

Touch and Travel Operation Touch In Control Touch Out Simple Check In before the journey starts Check In status can be controlled by conductor Simple Check Out at the end of the trip System testing started February 2008 7 Turning NFC into Reality France Public Transit M-Ticketing M-Payment Use case Download transport application Purchase transportation tickets through a mobile self-care Host the tickets in the mobile Present the mobile to validate and access to the transport network Host bank payment applications (Visa, Mastercard, ) in a mobile Use the mobile to proceed face-to-face payments Partners benefits expectations Relieve ticket booth and commercial agencies through the development of mobile self-care Reduction of the number of magnetic tickets Decrease of logistical and distribution costs Decrease of maintenance costs Support Reusability Increase the proportion of electronic transactions (vs. cash and checks) Decrease of the transaction time Develop new instrument of payment products such as prepaid Reach a younger target for bank services 8 4

Turning NFC into Reality Ecosystem and Trials Public Transit M-Ticketing Banks M-Payment Ecosystem Ulysse Define a solution to integrate NFC-enabled mobile in the existing Contactless Fare Management systems Workgroups gather representatives from the 3 MNO's and the top 5 transit operators Final specification is expected early 2008 P gasus Define a multi-bank payment systems based on NFC-enabled mobiles Workgroups gather representatives from 3 MNO's and 6 major banks Intermediate specification has been released mid-2007, final specification expected 2008 Experimentation Paris - May-July 2007 In partnership with the RATP (Paris) 77 people have used a tailor-made SAGEM NFC mobile to buy tickets, validate and pass through the gates Tickets and RATP application were hosted on a specific SIM card designed by Gemalto Strasbourg - Feb-Oct 2007 In partnership with Credit Mutuel About 300 people use tailor-made SAGEM & LG NFC mobiles to make face-to-face payment in more than 70 shops The payment application is hosted on specific SIM card designed by Gemalto 9 Re-inventing the SIM to Enable Trusted Services SIM lies at the heart of mobile communications a secure identity token Security to be better than the fixed telephone network The user will be able to switch mobile device without the operator intervention The user cannot clone or tamper with the authentication device The tiny SIM card represents a huge business opportunity for mobile and converged operators, says Juergen Walter Head of Service Core and Applications, Nokia Siemens Networks. It is a tangible and valuable token of their relationship with their customers. The identity, phone number and account data of individual subscribers are all tied to the SIM card, which means it can be a crucial tool for offering innovative services based on builtin identity and trust. 10 5

SIM platform for trusted services How will the SIM develop? Secure Open Application Execution Environment _Multi-application smartcards Download and Manage Applications OTA _Security, privacy and immediacy for Service Providers Increased Memory _Storage for Operator and Service Provider applications Communications client for PC Re-use proven authentication strength of the SIM Enable convergence of Fixed and Mobile services 11 Enabling trusted mobile NFC services SIM is a building block for trusted applications User Identity Secure Execution OTA Management Any trusted application Secure identity for users for authentication and personalised services Platform to host multiple trusted NFC applications through increasing memory, execution environment, and secure domains Secure NFC application download and management enabled by a Trusted Service Manager Host NFC and other third party and operator trusted applications in the mobile phone NFC Re-invents the SIM for Mobile 12 6
