Adding value to the defence industry Air systems Surface ships Defence facilities Land systems Our team of aviation experts has worked on fast jets, combat and transport aircraft, helicopters, fixed wing and rotary wing, unmanned aircraft, synthetic training systems, engines and air traffic management systems. We provide advice and technical support to research, development, procurement and operations in defence aerospace and civil aviation. We work with leading aerospace contractors, the UK s MOD, the Australian Government Department of Defence, suppliers and research establishments. Our wide range of services provides our clients with a competitive advantage by reducing risk and cost. Our project teams provide a broad catalogue of services, including surface ship equipment procurement and support, product and system development and assurance. We work with the UK s MOD, the Australian Government Department of Defence, industrial primes and second tier suppliers. They come to us as our mathematical and analytical modelling techniques, combined with our advanced naval architecture and marine engineering capability, span ship platform, ship systems and subsystems across the entire life cycle. With over four decades experience, our expertise has been applied to the operational environment and engineering elements of dockyards, airfields, explosive manufacture and storage facilities, missile manufacturing plants and military vehicle maintenance depots. We ve provided support at all stages of the project including engineering and analytical expertise in site design, licensing and operation. We re experts at risk assessment and safety case development; and have worked with numerous clients to help them comply with strict regulatory requirements. Working closely with research institutions, industry and government departments, we use our expertise to create the cutting-edge technologies needed to meet some of the greatest challenges in defence including soldier systems, vehicle systems, infrastructure, and training systems. We use advanced analysis and modelling to provide advice on the effects of modifying, upgrading and supporting military assets to maximise their operational capability. We also provide independent advice to help define requirements, develop specification and assess equipment to meet the required standards of safety and performance. Submarines C4ISTAR Security and resilience Electrical, control and instrumentation With over two decades experience, we have one of the most comprehensive submarine design and assurance solution portfolios in the UK. We use our multidisciplinary expertise to support platform design, nuclear propulsion, facilities and infrastructure and weapons systems. Our team, which includes a number of submariners, has marine and nuclear engineers, naval architects, safety specialists and designers. They work closely with colleagues in the company, including weapon systems engineers and human factors specialists. Our combined experience enables us to anticipate, plan and specify project requirements; whilst de-risking major programmes for government and industry clients. Command, control, communications, computers, information/intelligence, surveillance, targeting acquisition and reconnaissance (C4ISTAR), involves the collection, processing, prioritising and presentation of mission critical data needed to inform and reinforce decision-making. Our expertise in systems engineering, detailed knowledge of defence standards and experience in major C4ISTAR programmes means we can add considerable value across land, air and sea domains. Our ability to integrate our operator experience, technologists, safety and risk management skills with experienced project managers provides maximum value across the project life cycle. Within the defence sector, capability is the critical output. We work with you to ensure your capability can respond, recover and adapt in an uncertain world. We believe resilience is a key component of operational success. To enhance your protective security, we consider your personnel, cyber and physical security risks and help to preserve your capabilities through combining skills and experience gained from operating across a range of industry and government sectors. We have an unparalleled understanding of how defence functions work; and can apply our security and resilience expertise across the Defence Lines of Development to ensure resilient defence. Our electrical, control and instrumentation expertise is being applied across the defence sector. Our people have experience in the design, specification, installation, testing and commissioning of a wide range of systems, including: feasibility and design studies, detailed system design, safety case production, acceptance testing and design substantiation. We have particular expertise in electronic systems analysis to optimise performance and assure system integration. We also have experience in electrical distribution architecture and the processes used to evaluate design options; whilst our electromagnetic compatibility capability has been applied to major warship programmes. Weapons systems We work with government and industry clients, nationally and internationally, to support the development of advanced weapons systems using specialist technical capability. We work closely with defence safety authorities, interpreting their policies and procedures to provide expert advice to the wider weapons community on safety and environmental management. We support the design, development, production and through-life management of small arms, naval guns, complex weapons, artillery systems and military and law enforcement products. We provide expertise in weapon systems safety assurance and carry out research for clients in weapon effects and protection systems. We are also recognised experts in integrated munitions health management, blast modelling and internal ballistics software development, producing bespoke software such as FNGUN1D and FNGUN2D.
