Internal Layout Cover Mounting Screw The software diskettes used in this installation contain licensed materials from Sensormatic Electronics Corporation, Microsoft Corporation, and Intel Corporation. 80486 Motherboard Adapter Card Slots 2 3 4 5 6 7 Installing the Network Adapter Card Before installing an Ethernet ISA LAN adapter card into an 80586 or later POS/EM Value host computer, perform the procedures in Pre-Configuring an Ethernet ISA LAN Adapter Card at the end of this document. WARNING - SHOCK HAZARD Disconnect the POS/EM Value System s AC power before starting to install this equipment. Failure to do so could shock you and may damage the computer or the adapter card. WARNING - STATIC SENSITIVE COMPONENTS Follow proper handling procedures to prevent component failure.. Turn off the POS/EM Value host computer and unplug the power cord. Remove anything on top of the host computer case. Detach cables as necessary to allow access to the back of the computer system. Place removed equipment out of the way. Be sure to note how everything is attached so you can later reconnect the system. 2. Looking at the back of the computer, remove the top thumb screw (Figure ) that holds the cover in place. 3. Turn the opened computer on its side so the card area is facing up. Find the motherboard, adapter card slots, and backpanel (Figure 2). 4. Locate the adapter card s motherboard connector slot and backpanel cover plate. Use slot 4 on 80486 motherboards and ISA slot 5 on 80586 or later motherboards (Figure 3). 5. Remove the screw that attaches slot s cover plate to the backpanel. Keep the screw for use in a later step. Lift the cover plate out of the computer and set it aside. 6. Remove the LAN adapter card from its protective bag. Note the angle bracket on one end of the card. Its shape is similar to the cover plate just removed from the computer. Hold the card by this bracket. 7. Align the LAN card parallel to the other cards in the computer with its angle bracket fitting into slot s cover plate opening. Move the card down until it aligns with slot s motherboard connector. Press down firmly on the top of the card until it is fully seated into the connector (Figure 4). Figure 4. Inserting the LAN Card 2. Next, the system displays two successive screens of the Sensormatic copyright notice, pausing a few seconds for each screen. Press Ctrl + C at any time during the copyright display, to interrupt the loading process. Then press the Y key in response to the system message: Terminate batch job (Y/N)? After pressing Y, a DOS prompt appears, allowing LAN software installation to begin: C:\> If the copyright notice does not appear during system startup, check to make sure the POS/EM application software has been installed. Installing the LAN Adapter Software If POS/EM Value software has not been installed, the following message will appear when you start the LAN software installation process. Install the POS/EM Value software before continuing. INSTALLATION FOR NCR UNITY OPTION ABORTED! Reason: Generic PV system not installed yet. Action: Please start installation with POS/EM VALUE Diskette. 8. Using the screw from the cover plate, tighten the angle bracket down until it is flush against the top of the backpanel. Do not over-tighten the screw. 9. Connect the customer s Ethernet attachment cable to the card s connector. Choose the connector that matches the customer s wiring. 0. Place the host computer upright and attach the cover using the thumb screw that you removed earlier. Connect the power cord, video monitor cable, and any other cables that you removed earlier.. Turn on the power switch and allow the POS/EM Value system to restart. After re-booting, the modem driver software screen appears for a few seconds. The Ethernet software installation process provides screen messages to direct each step of the operation. These steps are summarized below:. Insert the NCR Unity Option installation diskette into the POS/EM Value host computer s floppy drive. 2. Type A:INSTALL and press Enter to begin the installation process. An introductory screen will appear, followed by an instruction to: Press any key to continue... Press Enter or any other key to continue. To terminate the installation, press Ctrl + C. 2 WORLD LEADER IN ELECTRONIC SECURITY

3. A list of instructions appears. You will need this information later in the installation process:. At the Main Menu, choose Change Adapter Configuration 2. Use Up/Down arrow keys to make selections. 3. Select I/O Address, choose 300-30Fh then press Enter 4. Select Interrupt, choose IRQ 5 then press Enter. 5. Select Flash Chip Address, choose DISABLED 6. Press F0 to accept the configuration choices. 7. Select Exit, if prompted answer Yes to Exit. 8. If prompted to Reboot, choose No. Press Enter or any other key to continue. 4. The first page of the three-page Microsoft License Agreement will appear. Press Enter, or any other key, twice to advance to the third page. The following message appears: Continue with installation? 5. Press Y to accept the terms of the Microsoft license agreement and continue the installation process. The following message appears: REMOVE FLOPPY DISK AND REPLACE WITH THE INTEL ETHER-EXPRESS LAN ADAPTER CONFIGURATION DISK THAT WAS SHIPPED WITH THE ADAPTER CARD 6. Remove the installation diskette and insert the Intel driver diskette. Then press Enter. The Main Menu window appears: Main Menu View adapter configuration Test adapter Install network drives Save/Load adapter configuration View help files Exit SoftSet 2 7. Select the first option, Change adapter configuration. The following menu window appears: I/O address 300-3Fh Interrupt IRQ 5 (AT only) Board connector type Auto-detect Force e-bit operation No Flash chip address Disabled Remote boot program None Advanced options menu 8. Confirm the following settings: I/O address = 300-3Fh, Interrupt = IRQ 5, and Flash chip address = Disabled. Use the up/down cursor keys to move between lines and the Enter key to select a parameter to be changed. 9. Press F0 to return to the Main Menu. 0. Choose Exit SoftSet 2 and press Enter.. When asked if you wish to re-boot now, press N or choose No. The following message appears: REMOVE FLOPPY DISK AND REPLACE WITH THE ETHERNET OPTIONS DISKETTE Press any key to continue... 2. Remove the Intel driver diskette and insert the NCR Unity Option diskette that was removed in step 6. Then press Enter or any other key. After final installation activities complete, the following message appears: INSTALLATION FOR NCR UNITY OPTION COMPLETED SUCCESSFULLY! () Remove diskette from floppy drive (2) Press Ctrl, Alt, Del CONFIGURATION COMPLETED, REMOVE OPTIONS DISKETTE FROM FLOPPY DRIVE THEN REBOOT THE POS/EM VALUE SYSTEM 3. Remove the diskette and press Ctrl + Alt + Delete to re-boot the system. This completes the Ethernet software installation. Pre-Configuring an Ethernet ISA LAN Adapter Card Use this procedure to pre-configure an Intel Ethernet ISA LAN adapter card for use in an 80586 or later POS/EM Value host computer. A POS/EM Value 80486 host computer is required for this procedure. WARNING - SHOCK HAZARD Disconnect AC power to the POS/EM Value System before starting to install this equipment. Failure to do so could shock you and may damage the computer or the adapter card. WARNING - STATIC SENSITIVE COMPONENTS Follow proper handling procedures to prevent component failure. . Turn off the POS/EM Value 80486 host computer and unplug the power cord. 2. Remove any cables necessary to allow access to the back of the computer. Be sure to note how everything is attached so you can later reconnect the system. 3. Remove the computer s cover by first removing the cover mounting thumb screw (Figure ) and then lifting off the cover. 4. Turn the open computer on its side so the card area is facing up. Locate the motherboard adapter slots and the backpanel (Figure 2). 5. Locate an unused slot, and remove the screw that attaches the slot s cover plate to the backpanel (Figure 3). Remove the cover plate. Keep the screw and cover plate for use in later steps. 6. Remove the LAN adapter card from its protective bag. 7. Align the LAN adapter card with the motherboard connector slot and the backpanel opening, and press firmly on the top edge of the card until it is seated into the connector (Figure 4). 8. Use the cover plate s backpanel screw to secure the LAN adapter card in place. Do not overtighten the screw. 9. Stand the computer up and connect the power cord and video monitor cable. 0. Plug in the power cord, turn on the power switch, and wait for the DOS prompt.. Insert the Intel EtherExpress PRO/0+ ISA LAN Adapter Configuration and Driver diskette, release 3.0 into the computer s floppy drive. 2. Type a:\softset2 and press Enter. The Main Menu appears. Use the arrow keys to move the cursor to Change adapter configuration and press Enter. The following screen appears: 4 WORLD LEADER IN ELECTRONIC SECURITY

Confirm that the settings for I/O Address and Interrupt are as shown above. If not, move the cursor to the line you want to change and press Enter. Type the new value and then press Esc. 5. Move the cursor to Advanced Option Menu and press Enter. The following screen appears: Advanced Advanced Option Option Menu Concurrent processing Enabled Plug and play Disabled Duplex Half duplex Power management disabled 6. Confirm that the setting for Plug and Play is as shown above. If not, move the cursor to the Plug and Play line and press Enter to change the value. 7. Press F0 to save all changes. The Main Menu appears. 8. Move the cursor to Exit SoftSet2 and press Enter. 9. Press N when the system asks if you want to restart the system now. 20. Turn off the POS/EM Value 80486 host computer and unplug the power cord. Remove any cables necessary to allow access to the back of the computer. 2. Turn the computer on its side, remove the screw securing the LAN adapter card to the backpanel, and remove the card. Put the card into its protective bag. 22. Place the cover plate over the backpanel opening and secure it in place using the backpanel screw. Do not overtighten the screw. 23. Replace the computer cover and secure it using the thumbscrew. 24. Reconnect the power cord and all cables. If the 80486 host computer was in use, plug in the power cord and turn on the power switch. 25. Return to Installing the Network Adapter Card at the beginning of this document. POS/EM Products 5
