Introduction This document explains Metasys Integrator Caterpillar applications. Use this document with the Metasys Integrator unit technical bulletins, which provide information on installing and commissioning the Metasys Integrator unit. For information on Caterpillar generator sets, see Caterpillar documentation (obtainable from a Caterpillar representative). Note: If you use a Universal Packaging Module (UPM) enclosure, you must install the Metasys Integrator unit 00 Series in a two high enclosure (EN-EWC-0) rather than a one high enclosure (EN-EWC-0) as shown in the figures in this application note. Application Details The Metasys Integrator unit allows Caterpillar applications to become an integral part of the Metasys and Metasys Companion Networks. Once a Caterpillar Customer Communication Module (CCM) is connected to a Metasys or Companion Network via the Metasys Integrator unit, its data is available to the full complement of Metasys Building Automation System (BAS) features, including Change-of-State (COS) monitoring, alarm notification, scheduling, trend, and totalization. The CCM connects to the Metasys Integrator unit through the RS- port. The CCM is the interface between Caterpillar generator sets and non-caterpillar devices (such as the Metasys Integrator unit). A maximum of eight generator sets can be connected to the CCM. Figure shows a Caterpillar unit integrated with a Metasys Network Control Unit (NCU), and Figure shows a Caterpillar unit integrated with Metasys Companion Networks. Component To integrate Caterpillar generator sets, you need: Requirements Caterpillar Electronic Modular Control Panel II (EMCP II) Generator Set Control or EMCP II+ Generator Set Control Caterpillar Customer Communication Module (CCM) RS- cable for connecting the CCM to the Metasys Integrator unit Metasys Integrator unit N Bus (for connecting the Metasys Integrator unit to the Metasys or Companion Network) portable Personal Computer (PC) for downloading vendor communication tables (.VCT files) and network setup information into the Metasys Integrator unit, drive communication settings, and for running diagnostics cable for connecting portable PC to the Metasys Integrator unit the correct vendor communication table (.VCT file) to download into the Metasys Integrator unit (supplied on Metasys Integrator CD-ROM) This document describes the RS- cable and the vendor communication tables. Caterpillar documentation describes their equipment. The remaining components are described in the Metasys Integrator unit technical bulletins. Metasys Network Release Requirements Metasys Companion Release Requirements To integrate Caterpillar equipment into the Metasys Network, you need: Metasys OWS software Release.0 or later Metasys Integrator unit firmware Release 9.0 or later Metasys Integrator unit software Release 9. or later To integrate Caterpillar equipment into the Metasys Companion Network, you need: Metasys Companion Release.0 or later Metasys Integrator unit firmware Release 9.0 or later Metasys Integrator unit software Release 9. or later Metasys Integrator Caterpillar Application Application Note

Vendor Component Requirements Vendor Contact Information Design Considerations To integrate Caterpillar equipment into the Metasys Network, you need: Caterpillar Electronic Modular Control Panel II (EMCP II) Generator Set Control or EMCP II+ Generator Set Control Caterpillar Customer Communication Module (CCM) Integration between the Metasys Integrator unit and the Caterpillar unit has been tested with the equipment listed in Table. Changes to this equipment or integration of Caterpillar products not discussed in this document will require additional software development and testing by Systems Products. For information on integrating other products, call the Field Support Center in Milwaukee. Table : Equipment and Part Numbers Caterpillar Product Part Number/Revision Number Caterpillar CCM 0- or -0 or -90 Caterpillar EMCP II 0- and -0 Caterpillar EMCP II+ -00 Call Caterpillar, Inc. at (09) -000 to get the telephone number for your local Caterpillar dealer. When integrating Caterpillar generator sets, keep the following considerations in mind: Make sure all Caterpillar generator sets are set up, started, and running properly before attempting to integrate with the Metasys or Companion Network. (The Caterpillar representative is responsible for operation of Caterpillar equipment.) Make sure the CCM baud rate is set to 900 baud. (The Caterpillar representative is responsible for setting the CCM s baud rate.) If a CCM password is required, it must be eight characters long and have no trailing spaces or the Metasys Integrator unit cannot log onto CCM. RS- cable distance between the Metasys Integrator unit and the CCM can be a maximum of 0 feet (0 feet recommended). Metasys Integrator Caterpillar Application Application Note

The cable connecting the CCM s Caterpillar Data Link (+/-) to the Caterpillar devices must be American Wire Gauge (AWG) shielded twisted-pair cable (use - Electric Cable, Belden 9 cable, or equivalent). The maximum length of this cable is 00 feet (this includes wire runs between multiple generator sets). T-tap bus is permissible. When mapping Caterpillar generator points to Metasys Network objects, you have the option of mapping each point to its own standard object (Analog Input, []; Analog Output, [AO]; Binary Input, []; Binary Output, [BO]). Mapping to standard objects provides greater versatility for point monitoring, which is especially important if the Network Terminal is used as a key-monitoring device. You must define an N address at the Metasys Integrator unit for the CCM. CCM application is required to log onto the CCM. The right/left exhaust temperature parameters are valid only if the GSC+ is programmed as an EUI (Setpoint OP-0 P0=). In addition, the GSC+ must receive this parameter over the datalink from the ADEM. Also, the generator Phase A, Phase B, and Phase C Power Factors are valid only if the GSC+ is programmed for a WYE-connected genset (Setpoint OP-0 P0=0). Diagnostic fault codes are associated with failed electrical components or circuits that provide information to, or receive information from, the GSC+. The diagnostic fault code closely identifies the cause of the fault. Each diagnostic fault code consists of a Component Identifier (CID), a Failure Mode Indicator (FMI) and an active/inactive status indicator. The CID tells which component in the system is faulty, and the FMI describes the nature of the fault. For a list of FMI codes for each CID, see the Caterpillar Service Manual. Metasys Integrator Unit Setup To set up the Metasys Integrator unit, use a portable PC connected to Metasys Integrator Terminal Port. The Metasys Integrator unit setup involves: downloading the correct vendor communication table (.VCT file) setting up the ports assigning network addresses to the controllers The following table provides setup information specific to Caterpillar applications. For detailed procedures, see the Metasys Integrator unit technical bulletins.
