a22 Chain Store Guide Frequently Asked Questions 1. The counts returned are very low? Why does this happen? This sometimes happens when mutually exclusive criteria are selected. One piece of criteria can inadvertently eliminate a large number of companies. Relax the criteria selected and recount. This can also happen when selections are made on the Personnel Category without using the Title Slug option. Use the title slug option to ensure that every company that meets all other selection criteria is represented with at least one record. (Refer to page 10 for more information about Title Slug.) 2. Must I specify criteria on every Category? No. Select criteria to limit the data range. If any data is acceptable, leave the criteria blank. Choosing all options acts the same as choosing none of the options, but increases the processing time. 3. How do I select all the companies? Simply click the Run Query button without selecting any criteria. 4. How do I exclude companies? On the View window, select the company/companies you want to exclude and click the Exclude button. Excluded companies will not appear in Output. (Refer to pages 12-13 for more information about View.) 5. Why do I get more than one record per company in output? If you select One Record per Person or Select All under De-Duplicate Options, you will get more than one contact per company, therefore more than one record per company. Change your selection to One Record per Company. (Refer to page 10 for more information about De-Duplicate Options.) 6. Can I export other fields that are available on the prospect profile, but do not appear in my Export preview? No, the fields available for export include: company name, address, city, state, zip code, phone, fax, mailing address, contact name(s), title, update status, company id, total sales or industry sales (depending on the industry) and total locations (depending on the industry). If there are fields that you want to purchase separately that are not available on the Online export, call our sales department at 1-800-927-9292 and ask for our Database Marketing Division. 7. I can not find the personnel selections I made on the view window. Where can I view personnel? On the Advanced Search window, select View Personnel. (Refer to pages 11-12 for more information about View.) The View Personnel window displays the Person s Name and Title and the Company Name, Address, City, State, Zip Code, and Phone Number. To view a detailed listing of the company s information, click on the company name. (Refer to page 15 for more information about Company Profiles.) 8. How do I view my exported results? After you ve named your query and selected the elements you wish to export, click the Run Export button. The Export Download window opens. Click on the file name, and the File Download window opens. Here, you can decide to either open or save your file. If you are running IE 6.0 you must click save and follow the instructions to save the file before opening in the preferred software application. (Refer to pages 17-18 for more information about Exporting.)
