MultiCam Cameras Reference Information Teli CSB4000CL 0.1.5 Camera setup 0.1.5.1 Using the RS-232 interface The camera can be configured via dip switches or via an ASCII terminal or from a PC running terminal emulator software. Below is the description of the ASCII codes to install the different configurations. Communication setting of Windows HyperTerminal Baud Rate Data Length Stop Bit Parity Flow Control Send line ends with line feed Wrap lines that exceed terminal width 9600 bps 8 bits 1 bit None None Checked Checked Description of the serial communication Each communication with the CSB4000CL camera contains 6 characters. To write one byte ASCII codes Upper address Lower address Upper data Lower data Example 0x 0x36 6 0x38 8 0x41 A 0x38 8 0x The example above writes the value 0xA8 into the register address 0x68. The camera always responds with 3 characters : ASCII codes Meaning ACK 06 Data received correct and reflected to the register NACK 0x15 Bad message and no internal effect. To read one byte ASCII codes Upper address Lower address R Q Example 0x 0x31 1 0x30 0 0x52 R 0x51 Q 0x The example above reads the value into the register address 0x10.
Teli CSB4000CL MultiCam Cameras Reference Information The camera responds with 3 characters if previous message is not correct. ASCII codes Meaning NACK 0x15 Bad message and no internal effect. If the previous message is correct, the camera responds with 4 characters. ASCII codes Meaning Upper data Lower 4 bits of data This value (data) is stored at the transmitted address. The answer of the example s address transmitted (address = 0x10) is 0x43 (= C ). Valid for configuration P8SC (factory mode) With a new camera, this mode is already programmed. Address Value Description 0x68 Any Shutter speed (lower 8 bits) 0x69 < 0x40 Shutter speed (on 6 bits) 0x6A 00 Non trigger mode 0x90 00 10 bits output width mode When all parameters are transmitted to the camera, it is necessary to write 01 to register 0x6E, to update the operation mode. Before this step, no change is applied inside the camera. The shutter speed of the camera is composed of 14 bits, with lower 8 bits at the address 0x68 and upper 6 bits occupying the bits 0-5 of address 0x69. The exposure time is calculated as follows : Exposure time [µs] = (Value of shutter speed register + 1) 65.82 5.16 The maximum value of exposure time is 1.007 second, which is obtained if shutter speed = 0x3BBD. Any assigned value above 0x3BBD implies the same maximum value of exposure time, i.e. 1.007 second. Valid for configuration P8RC Address Value Description 0x66 00 Global shutter mode & no Vstart input 0x68 Any Shutter speed (lower 8 bits) 0x69 < 0x40 Shutter speed (on 6 bits) 0x6A Trigger mode & positive polarity of trigger 0x6B 00 FIX trigger mode (with shutter speed) 0x90 00 10 bits output width mode Obviously, a higher frame rate may be achieved only with smaller values of shutter speed, that requires mode lightning to obtain good images.
