Attaching the Camera 1. Decide where you want to place the TETRIX Flat Building Plate on the robot; this plate will hold the modem. Attach four stand-off posts with 1/2" screws (Figure 1) in places to support the building Stand-off posts plate. Figure 1 2 DaNI Robot Camera User Guide 60018 V0512
Tip: Turning the robot upside down can help you to fasten the screws to secure the stand-off posts (Figure 2). Figure 2 2. Attach the building plate on top of the stand-off posts with four more 1/2" screws (Figure 3). 3. Place two more stand-off posts on the front of the robot on top of its 288 mm TETRIX Channel (Figure 4). Do this on the channel s center circle and with the posts positioned front to back (not side to side). Tip: It can be difficult to reach this area with the hex key. To help, you can detach the sonar sensor at the front of the robot. Do this by using the screwdriver to remove the screw that holds the L bracket and sensor onto the servo (Figure 5). 4. Take the two acrylic pieces and remove the paper backing from them (Figure 6). Lay the pieces over one another so the notch on the irregular piece leaves open the slightly larger hole on the rectangular piece (Figure 7). Holding these together, align them to the outside of the L bracket. Secure these together with two 3/8" screws be sure the screw heads are on the inside of the L bracket (Figure 8). Figure 6 Figure 7 Figure 8 5. Remove the backing from one side of the adhesive tab and place it on the camera below the mounting screw (Figure 9). Fasten the camera to the front of the L bracket assembly. The camera s mounting post will go through the top hole on the acrylic pieces (Figure 10). Secure the post with the thumb nut (Figure 11). 6. If you removed the sonar sensor, put it back on at this time (Figure 12). Place the camera assembly on top of the two stand-off posts at the front of the robot. Be sure the camera faces forward, and then secure the L bracket to the posts with two 1/2" screws (Figure 13). Figure 12 Figure 13 7. Using two 1/2" screws and two kep nuts, attach the power converter on the far right side of the flat building plate you attached to the robot in Step 2 (Figure 14). The converter will hang off the side a bit. Figure 14 8. Cut two 3" pieces of the Velcro. Remove the backing from one side and adhere these pieces across the underside of the modem (Figure 15). Remove the backing from the other side of the Velcro and press the modem firmly onto the building plate with the jacks facing away from the back of the robot (Figure 16). 9. The power converter has two DC outputs: 5 volt and 12 volt. Connect the 5 volt to the camera (Figure 17a) and the 12 volt to the modem (Figure 17b). Figure 17a Figure 17b 10. Connect the 2' Ethernet cable from the second jack from the right on the modem to the back of the camera (Figure 18). This jack modem is labeled 2 in small print under the jack. 11. Connect the 1' Ethernet cable from the small square part on the bottom-right corner of the SB RIO (Figure 19). Plug the other end into the first jack from the right on the modem (Figure 20). This jack is labeled WAN in small print under the jack. Figure 18 Figure 19 Figure 20 6 DaNI Robot Camera User Guide 60018 V0512
12. Connect the cable from the robot s battery pack to the power converter s cable with the male end (Figure 21). 13. Connect the power converter s cable with the female end into the cable coming from the robot s SB RIO (Figure 22). Figure 21 Figure 22 You are now ready to use your DaNI 2.0 Robot with the camera.
