Note: (1) One (1) ios device can be wirelessly connected to one (1) GP-1870/F. (2) The GP-1870/F supports no wireless connection with Android devices. (3) Remote operation of the GP-1870/F is not available over an ios device with the Plan2Nav app. 1-3 Important Notice on Wireless LAN The built-in wireless LAN is approved for use in the US (FCC) and Europe (CE). You can see the indication of [Wireless ON] on the bottom right of the screen. It represents that the wireless LAN will be turned on by pressing [Wireless ON]. 3
2. Improved Visual Impression 2-1 Larger Font on Data Box (Model GP-1870/F Only) The GP-1870/F v2.01 has a larger font on the data boxes for better visibility. v2.01 v1.05 or earlier 2-2 New Option in Ship s Icon In addition to the existing three (3) ship icon designs, another option is added. 3. Points / Routes / Tracks 3-1 Searching Points & Routes by Partial Match The GP-1670/1870/F v2.01 offers an easier search function for point and route database. The previous v1.05 or earlier program required you to enter a complete name for a search. Now with v2.01, you can just enter a part of the name to search saved points and routes. In this example, only [1] is entered for a search. The point named [GP1870] including 1 is highlighted. 3-2 Filtering Pont by Icon Shape and Name The GP-1670/1870/F v2.01 helps to find a required point from the list by sorting out the point database by icon shape and name. In [MENU] [PLOTTER] [POINTS] [Points List], the filtering options are available on the Points List page as shown at left. See the following examples for the filtering procedures. 5
Filtering by ICON Filtered by ICON In this example, points with a [ ] shape will be filtered; click [ICON] and select [ ]. Only the points with this shape will be listed. Filtering by NAME Filtered by NAME In this example, points including G in name will be Only the points including G will be listed. filtered; click [Name] and enter [G]. Tips: The filtered points list can be deactivated by clicking [NONE]. 6
3-3 Suppressing 0 from Point Name Indication A point will be named with PT0000x at default. Especially when there are many points with names shown on a plotter screen, it can be more convenient to have shorter names indicated. The GP-1670/1870/F v2.01 suppresses 0 from the indication on the plotter screen. To utilize this feature, access [MENU] [PLOTTER] [HANDLING ZERO] and select [Zero Suppress] (Default: [Zero Padding]) to remove the indication of 0 as shown in the following example. Zero Padding (Default) Zero Suppress A point name is registered as PT0001, while the full name is indicated on the plotter screen. The plotter screen simply shows the point name as PT1 by suppressing 000 from the full name. Note: Regardless of zero suppress setting, the points list shows each point in full name. 3-4 All Points Shown on Screen in Long Rage With v1.05 or earlier, when multiple points are entered on a plotter screen, several points were not shown in longer ranges. The GP-1670/1870/F v2.01 shows all points regardless of the ranges. See the following example with screenshots. Short Range (All Points) Long Range (v2.01) Long Range (v1.05 or earlier) Five (5) points are entered. All of them are shown in short ranges. In long ranges, all the points are shown. In long ranges, only two (2) points are shown. 7
3-5 Easy Routing Easier UI The GP-1670/1870/F v2.01 offers much easier access to the Easy Routing function. Just long-press the RotoKey and select [Easy Routing]. You do not have to access the main menu to get started. 3-6 Checking Safety Level of Route When you navigate on an unfamiliar route, you have no way to determine by yourself if a created route is safe. You may feel anxious, wondering if there is any shallow area or obstruction down below. Now, the GP-1670/1870/F v2.01 in combination with C-MAP 4D charts checks a safety level of the created route. According to a check result, you may edit the route or carefully navigate around the remarked area. Here is how a route is checked. 1. Access [MENU] [PLOTTER] [ROUTE CHECK]. 2. A route will be checked based on these conditions set by users. 3. Place a cursor on a route and press the [ENT] key. Select [START ROUTE CHECK]. 4. After the check process is complete, a report will pop up. In this example, there are three (3) warnings. 8
5. The checked area will be highlighted with remarked legs colored. In this example, the leg between QP1 (QP00001) and QP2 (QP00002) is reported to have a shallow water area and highlighted in red. 6. You can also see the check result on the menu; access [MENU] [ROUTE] and select [ROUTE CHECK REPORT] to open the report. 7. To clear the check result, place a cursor on the route, push the [ENT] key, and select [STOP ROUTE CHECK]. The highlight on the route will disappear. 9
3-7 Active Route Highlight on Routes List An active route is highlighted on the Routes List page ([MENU] [PLOTTER] [ROUTES]). In the following example, there two (2) routes. The route FURUNO is activated and highlighted on the Routes List. Route Name: ELECTRIC Route Name: FURUNO Highlighted in red 3-8 Track Point Indication on Menu The number of saved track points is indicated on the track menu, which will help to see the remaining capacity. Example TLL Output from GP-1670F/1870F ( F models) to GP-1670/1870/F The GP-1670F and GP-1870F, when pressing the [POINTS] key, can output ACCU-FISH and bottom discrimination information enclosed in a point. Here is an example of two (2) stations of the GP-1870/F: Station 1 at steering with the GP-1870/F and Station 2 at rigging with the GP-1870F as shown below. 10
While you find a good fish echo at the Station 2 and press the [POINTS] key on the GP-1870F, a point will be transferred to the Station 1. The point also contains ACCU-FISH and bottom discrimination information. If you place a cursor on the point, this information will pop up. Note: (1) Only the GP-1670F and GP-1870F (F models) can output the ACCU-FISH and bottom discrimination information with points. (2) To output the point data with ACCU-FISh and bottom discrimination information from the GP-1670F/1870F, access [MENU] [INTERFACE] [SELECT OUTPUT PGN] and ensure that the following PGN s are set to [ON] (Default: [ON]).
