Square Centimeter A unit of area equal to a square one centimeter long on each side. Trapezoid A quadrilateral with exactly one pair of parallel sides

Vertex A point where two or more straight lines meet. A corner. Volume The number of cubic units needed to fill a given space.

Data set: 4, 6, 7, 8, 10 Average: 4 + 6 + 7 + 8 +10 /5 = 35/5 = 7 Box Plot A graph that shows how data are distributed by using the median, quartiles, least value, and greatest value; also called a box-and whisker plot. Categorical Data Data that consists of non numeric information. Data Facts and statistics collected together for reference or analysis.

Dot Plot A visual display in which each piece of data is represented by a dot above a number line. Histogram A bar graph that shows the frequency of data within equal intervals. Interquartile Range (IQR) The difference of the third (upper) and first (lower) quartiles in a data set, representing the middle half of the data. Lower Quartile Is the median of the lower half of a set of data.

Measure of Center A measure used to describe the middle of a data set. Also called measure of central tendency Measure of Spread A measure that describes how far apart the data are distributed. Relative Frequency The ratio of the number of times an event or data value occurs and the total number of events or data values. Statistical Question A question that has many different, or variable, answers.

Survey To gather information by individual samples so as to learn about the whole thing.

Unit 7 Word Definition Picture Credit Card Credit History A small plastic card issued by a bank, business, etc., allowing the holder to purchase goods or services on credit. A record of a consumer's ability to repay debts and demonstrated responsibility in repaying debts. Credit Report A detailed report of an individual's credit history prepared by a credit bureau and used by a lender to in determining a loan applicant's creditworthiness Credit Score A number assigned to a person that indicates to lenders their capacity to repay a loan.

Checking Account An account at a bank against which checks can be drawn by the account depositor. Debit Card A card issued by a bank allowing the holder to transfer money electronically to another bank account when making a purchase. Deposit A sum of money placed or kept in a bank account, usually to gain interest. Grant A sum of money given by an organization, especially a government, for a particular purpose.

Income Money received, especially on a regular basis, for work or through investments. Scholarships A grant or payment made to support a student's education, awarded on the basis of academic or other achievement. Withdrawal An act of taking money out of an account. Work-Study Programs Part-time jobs for undergraduate and graduate students with financial need, allowing them to earn money to help pay education expenses.
