Industrial IT Extended Automation System 800xA Information Management 3BUF 001 114 D2 Rollup 1 Hot Fix 2 Release Notes Introduction This document provides release information for hot fix 2 for Information Management version 3.6/0 rollup 1. In order to install this hot fix, rollup 1 for Information Management version 3.6 must already be installed. If you need to check whether or not the rollup has already been installed, use the procedure described Verifying the Rollup Installation on page 12. The problems fixed by this rollup are described in Corrected Problems on page 2. Instructions for installing this hot fix are provided in Installation on page 2. 3BUF 001 114 D2 1
Rollup 1 Hot Fix 2 Release Notes Information Management Corrected Problems Table 1 lists the problems corrected in this rollup. Table 1. Fixed Problems Problem History 3.1/1. The pdlapisrv process had issues allocating/releasing memory that showed up based on several issues(load,timing etc.). When inserting points with timestamps earlier than last stored value in a Storage Type 3 log, the log file would become corrupted. This problem has been fixed. The problem which caused the PDLApiSrv.exe Application error to be reported after installing Information Management software has been fixed. There is a need to migrate history in older systems to Information Management version 3.6. The problem which caused the hshistorysync.exe application error has been fixed. The problem that caused the history synchronizer to crash and corrupt log IDs has been fixed. Solution Implement import of raw numeric data into inactive history logs through OPC HDA interfaces. Installation There are four basic steps for installing the Information Management rollup: 1. Download the rollup hot fix ZIP file from the ABB Library to the computer where it will be installed. 2. Prepare the computer for rollup hot fix installation by making a full backup, stopping history, and stopping the server. 3. Extract the ZIP file and copy the contents to the history/bin directory. 4. Information Management Downloading the rollup hot fix Installation File Detailed instructions for these basic steps are provided in the following sections. Downloading the rollup hot fix Installation File The rollup hot fix files are provided in a ZIP file named IM360_History_HotFix2_for_Rollup1_bin.zip which is available via SolutionsBank. Download this ZIP file to your computer. To find the ZIP file in SolutionsBank, drill down in the Download Bank using: Product Group = Control Products and Systems Product Family = Industrial IT System - 800xA 3.1 Product Sub Family = System 800xA 3.1 Information Management Product = All Products Document Type = Download Preparing Your Computer for rollup Hot Fix Installation To prepare your computer for rollup hot fix installation, first make a complete backup of your system, then stop all processes under PAS supervision, then stop the server. Making a Backup 1. Log on to your computer as the 800xA Installing user. This user was configured during the prerequisite and set-up phase of the initial installation as described in the section on Creating Users and Groups in Industrial IT 800xA System Installation. 2. Make a complete backup of your system. 3. Exit all Windows applications. 3BUF 001 114 D2 3
Preparing Your Computer for rollup Hot Fix Installation Information Management Stopping PAS Processes Stop all processes under the supervision of the Process Administration Service (PAS). Then place PAS in Manual start-up mode and stop the service. To do this: 1. Run the PAS utility on the Information Management Server, Figure 1. From the Windows task bar choose: Start>Programs>ABB Industrial IT> 800xA System>Information Management>PAS>Process Administration. Figure 1. Then paste the files to the history/bin directory. The path to the history directory is specified in the %hs_home% environment variable. a. Replacing Existing Files Restarting the Computer Restart the computer when you are finished copying the files. This will automatically start the server and PAS services. Removing the Hot Fix If you need to remove the hot fix, first uninstall history and then re-install rollup 1. 3BUF 001 114 D2 11
Copying the Hot Fix Files to the History/bin Directory Information Management Verifying the Rollup Installation To verify that the rollup has been properly installed, check the version information for the updated components. To do this, from the Windows task bar, choose Start>Programs>ABB Industrial IT>800xA System>Information Management>Version Info. This displays the Version Information window, Figure 12. Scroll to the section for History Services. Verify that the date for the version file is: 12/11/2003. You may check the version information for other updated components as well.
