The following guide explains how to setup and use the DASH enabled Pegatron IPMSB-DA with SyAM Software, System Client and System Area Manager for performing the DASH out of band management functions. System Configuration - Pegatron IPMSB-DA Motherboard BIOS 0304 - Intel i5-2300 - 4GB DDR3 133mhz - Windows 8 Consumer Preview 64-bit - Realtek DASH Firmware 1.1.3.5872 - Realtek Network Driver 8.1.1019.2011 - RealManage Agent 1.3.1 - Operating System IP 192.168.200.152 (Can also be setup as DHCP) Browser Requirements on a second system - Internet Explorer 8 or above, Firefox v3.5 or above - Java runtime plugin for your web browser BIOS Settings Enter BIOS Setup (Del or F2) 1. Load Optimized Defaults Then enable the following options 2. Peripherals LAN PXE Boot Option ROM Enabled 3. Peripherals MCTP Configuration MCTP Support Enabled Save and Reboot the system. As the system boots press Shift and F10 to enter the DASH Setup. If you do not see this enter BIOS Setup and choose Boot Override - Real Manage. SyAM Software System Area Manager Setup On a separate system install the SyAM System Area Manager. Place the ISO and IMG files that you wish to use for USB Redirection in the following folder C:\SyAM\Jetty\syam\webapps\root\dashiso Open up a web browser and browse to the System Area Manager from any system except from the Dash system as we will be doing power functions to that system. http://systemname:3930 1. Log in using your Windows username and password. This will become the default administrator. For adding additional users please see the System Area Manager User Manual. 2. From the drop down menu at the top right choose Add Managed System. 3. Enter the IP address of the Pegatron system in the From and To boxes, press apply, this will now add the Pegatron system to the Management Tree. 4. Click on the Pegatron system on the tree. a. If using Static IP for DASH Access enter the DASH IP Address, Username and Password configured for DASH. Press the Apply button to save the data. b. If using DHCP for DASH access the DASH Name Username and Password configured for DASH. Press the Apply button to save the data 6/1/2012 Page 4
DASH Remote Management Now that you have DASH configured in the System Area Manager you can perform direct power controls to the DASH system. 1. Click on the Dash Remote Management Tab, and then click on the Establish DASH Connection button. 2. It will now show you the current Power Status of the system. 6/1/2012 Page 5

Choose the power option you wish to perform by either clicking the Power Off button (If the system is on or choosing the Power On radio button (If the system is off) or Power Reset radio button (If the system is powered on). Then press the Send Command Button. It will show you the result of your choice at the bottom of the screen. 4. Once you have performed your function you must disconnect the DASH session. To do this click on the DASH Configuration tab and then click on the Disconnect Session button. 5. Once disconnected the status will updated to not connected. 6/1/2012 Page 6
DASH Serial Over LAN With SyAM Software and the DASH configured Pegatron system you can access the system as it boots up, enabling you to access the BIOS to make BIOS changes, etc. Serial Over LAN is only available as the system powers on. 1. Click on DASH Power Management; establish connection. 2. Either click the Power On radio button (if the system status is Off) or the Power Reset radio button (if the system status is On). Also, check off the Launch SOL check box. Now click the Send Command button. 6/1/2012 Page 7
1. This will bring up the Serial Over LAN console in your web browser. Click on the console and press F2 or the DEL key to enter BIOS when the message comes up. Should you need to reboot the system you can press the Power reset button 6/1/2012 Page 8

DASH USB Redirection With SyAM Software and the DASH configured Pegatron system you can redirect media from the Area Manger system to the client system by using the USB Redirect feature in the DASH Remote Management tab. USB Redirection is available as the system powers on, this allows you to boot from an IMG bootable image or a bootable ISO image. In addition the USB redirection can be used when the system is in the OS and the image can be accessed as if the image was physically connected to the system. 1. Click on DASH Remote Management; establish connection. 2. Check off the enable USB Redirect checkbox. 6/1/2012 Page 10
1. In the image drop down box select the IMG or ISO image that will be redirected to the client system then click the send command button. This will then redirect the IMG or ISO image to the client system and the client system can access those files on the image. 6/1/2012 Page 11
