SolarWinds Management Pack 1 The SolarWinds Management Pack allows you to view summary information about your network devices within the Operations Console. Requirements In order for the Solarwinds Integration pack to work properly, it needs to be installed on all SCOM servers visible in the Management Group. Ensure your SolarWinds and Microsoft System Center Operations Manager 2012 deployment meet the following requirements: Component SolarWinds NPM SolarWinds SAM SolarWinds WPM Requirement Versions 10.2.2 and higher Versions 5.0 and higher 2.0 and higher Note: At least one SolarWinds component is required. Additional components are optional. Microsoft System Center version Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) 2012 or 2012 SP1 Operating System Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 or Windows Server 2012 Windows Server 2012 SP1 Ports 17777 This is the port used by the SolarWinds Web Console interface. The option to change this appears in Step 3 of the Configuration Wizard. By default, port 80 is used. Upgrading To upgrade from a previous version, use the Add or Remove Programs tool from the Windows Control Panel to remove the previous version and then install this version. Installing the SolarWinds Management Pack The management pack must be installed on your Microsoft System Center Operations Manager 2012 server. To install the SolarWinds Management Pack: 1. Log on to your Microsoft System Center Operations Manager 2012 server with a local administrator account. Note: Logging in with a domain administrator account will not work. 2. Locate the SolarWinds Management Pack for SCOM 2012.msi file found in the SolarWinds Management Pack download package, and then double-click the file.
2 SolarWinds Management Pack 3. Click Next on the Welcome window. 4. Accept the license agreement, then select or confirm the installation location of the management pack, and then click Next.

4 SolarWinds Management Pack Configuring the SolarWinds Management Pack After the initial install of the SolarWinds Management Pack, the Configuration Wizard immediately launches. If you want to reconfigure your management pack at any time, you can do so by launching the wizard from the following location: Start > All Programs > SCOM > SolarWinds Management Pack Configuration. To configure the SolarWinds Management Pack: 1. If this is the first time you have run the Configuration wizard, complete the registration window, and then click Submit. Supply the following information: Your full name Email address Phone number Specify whether you own a licensed version of a SolarWinds product along with your SolarWinds ID, or are just evaluating the software at this time. 2. Review the Welcome window of the Configuration Wizard, and then click Next.
SolarWinds Management Pack 5 3. Provide the appropriate information on your SolarWinds servers IP address, Hostname, or Fully Qualified Domain Name, and then click Next. You must correctly specify the following information: Orion server IP address or hostname Orion Web Console port on the Orion server specified Orion Administrator User ID to access the Web Console Orion Administrator Web Console password 4. Check the nodes and interfaces you want to monitor within Microsoft System Center Operations Manager 2012, and then click Next. Note: The Node List will be blank if you are running a standalsone version of WPM because WPM does not have nodes.
6 SolarWinds Management Pack 5. Check the Netflow nodes you want to monitor and then click Next. 6. Check the Applications and Components you want to monitor and then click Next.
SolarWinds Management Pack 7 7. Check the Transactions and Transaction Steps you want to monitor and then click Next. 8. After you have specified everything you want to monitor via this wizard, specify the data collection frequency in minutes and the change detection settings for the management pack, and then click Finish.
8 SolarWinds Management Pack Ensure the Management Pack Is Correctly Installed The left navigation pane of your Operations Console reflects your installation of the SolarWinds Management Pack. Once the Management Pack is installed, the navigation pane will display your SolarWinds products and look similar to the following image:
