System Requirements When Using TAPI with the ONYX IV, ONYX VS and DS01 Systems The TAPI feature requires a PC Interface (P/N 88405) and NEC's TAPI Driver (P/N 94000). As there are several different versions of the TAPI driver, make sure to install the correct version for the ONYX system (version 1.02.02, #048-117-**). In addition, the system software must be Y3.00 or higher for ONYX IV and AUX module software 03.00 or higher for ONYX VS and DS01 systems. Note: With the ONYX VS or DS01 systems, phone programming can not be used to enable the TAPI feature. The following prompts must be enabled in terminal programming. The PCI requires the following configuration: E2 - Extension Circuit Type Station type must be configured as a TAPI device, type 02. Set the prompt Local HF to NO, and set TAPI Phone to YES. ED - Trunk Control, Ring Control Allow ringing on all the desired lines. E8 - Line Access Options, Ringing Line Preference Enable Ringing Line Preference. EF - Incoming Voice Call Through Telephone Speaker Voice Announce should be disabled. In TAPI mode, this will enable Caller ID Pop Ups on Intercom calls. QE - Automatic Handsfree Automatic Handsfree should be set to No (disabled). Page 4

System Requirements When Using TAPI with the i-series Systems The TAPI feature requires a 24 or 32-button telephone (P/N 926xx, 922xx, or 920xx) or the i-series 28 or 34-button telephones (P/N 927xx) with a DCI-A RS-232-C DCI Module (P/N 92266) in addition to NEC s TAPI Driver (P/N 94000). As there are several different versions of the TAPI driver, make sure to install the correct one. The 384i system (software 3.07.12-4.00.14), the 28i system (software 5.x), or the 124i system (software 4.02-5.x Base/EXCPRU) should use the 1.00.03 TAPI driver (labeled #048-128-**). The TAPI driver 1.5 or higher is a 32-bit program and must be used with Windows 95 or higher. The TAPI 1.5 version is only available for the 384i system using software 4.00.14 or higher, the 28i/124i using Commonized 6.00.08 or higher, or any version of the 124i Enhanced or 704i software. The telephone system must have the following items programmed in order for the TAPI feature to function correctly. If you wish to have Caller ID Pop-Ups, you must also program Caller ID (refer to thei-series Software Manual (P/N 92000SWGxx) for programming information. 0419 - Class of Service, Item 11: TAPI Auto Idle Mode For each Class of Service using TAPI, enter 1 to allow the system to recognize the newer TAPI driver software (1.5 or higher). When using older TAPI software, set this option to 0. 1006 - Programming Function Keys Assign a Telemarketing Dial key (code 1045) to the DCI keyset. Note: When using the DCI for TAPI dialing, this key must be lit in order for the call to dial using the telephone. TAPI Software 1.5 or higher: This option is not needed and the key should be undefined. If the key is left on the telephone and it is pressed, the TAPI driver will revert to the old version of the driver. Page 5

(In the number 203-926-5400, 926 is the prefix number.) Each location has a toll list available. When a number would otherwise be treated as a local call, the toll list is checked to see if the prefix of the number to be dialed is in the list. If it is, the number is dialed as though it were a long distance call. Note: If your telephone company requires the area code to be dialed for instate long distance calls, enable the option INSERT AREA CODE WHEN DIALING TOLL PREFIX. Refer to the on-line HELP menu for further information on Toll Lists. 14. Optional A calling card entry creates a sequence of numbers to be dialed on a particular call. This is not limited to just calling card numbers. It could also be used as an alternative procedure for direct dialing without a calling card number. If a card number is specified, it is kept in a scrambled form and is not displayed in its unscrambled form in order to protect your card number. Refer to the on-line HELP menu for further information on calling cards. 15. If no additional options are required, click on OK from the ADD/EDIT LOCATION screen, click on CLOSE in both the LOCATIONS screen and TELEPHONY screen. Page 16
