H2020 SC1-eHEALTH CALLS (2018)

Digital Transformation in Health and Care This call aims at supporting the management of health and wellbeing while empowering the participation of citizens and facilitating the transformation of health and care services to more digitized, personcentered and community-based care models, thereby enabling better access to healthcare and the sustainability of health and care systems. SC1-DTH-03-2018: Adaptive smart working and living environments supporting active and healthy ageing (RIA 3-4 M) - Demographic change and the ageing of the population create new heterogeneous challenges for age-friendly living, recreational and working environments. - Proposals should develop and validate digitally enabled adaptive services and solutions, should build on active user engagement. - Impacts emphasis on e.g. independent living, enhances in health and safety working conditions, competitive advantage, cost-effectiveness.

Digital Transformation in Health and Care SC1-DTH-07-2018: Exploiting the full potential of in-silico medicine research for personalized diagnostics and therapies in cloudbased environments (RIA 10-15 M) - Need of more precise and personalized diagnostics and treatments, the proposed software tools and platforms. - Better translation of big and multi-disciplinary data to personalized decision making; new digitized trusted diagnostic and treatment tools. SC1-DTH-08-2018: Prototyping a European interoperable Electronic Health Record (EHR) exchange (RIA 6-10 M) - 25 official languages in Europe, data is in silos without matching semantic standards, quality and safe data exchange techniques. - Aims: (i) citizen-centered implementation of a platform, (ii) data-driven platform to help the scientific community to benefit from user generated data (health, care and health-related).security, GRPR compliance! - Bi-directionality e.g. between hospitals, doctors, cross-border hospitals, citizen and research database.

Digital Transformation in Health and Care SC1-HCC-01-2018: Supporting investment in smart living environments for ageing well through certification (CSA 1 M) - Challenge is to support a shift from institutional care to the homebased independent living model. - Impact: Agreed scheme for European-wide certification and adoption, adequate basis for investment decisions, proof of movement from institutional care to the home-based independent living model. SC1-HCC-03-2018: Support to further development of international cooperation in digital transformation of health and care (CSA 2 M) - The action should develop and deliver a roadmap for international cooperation which outlines key relevant research and innovation areas in digital solutions and services for active and healthy ageing. - Impact: increased awareness of relevant research and innovation initiatives, international cooperation/networking relating this.

Digital Transformation in Health and Care SC1-HCC-04-2018: Digital health and care services support for strategy and (early) adoption (CSA 3 M) - Need to support cross-border cooperation in preparation of procurement of research and innovative digital solutions with risks involved and need for implementing high quality policies, strategies and practices in a concerted manner and providing more confidence. - Scope is to create framework conditions for cross-border Communities of Practice and assist in public procurement investment decisions. SC1-HCC-05-2018: Support to a Digital Health and Care Innovation initiative in the context of Digital Single Market strategy (CSA 4 M) - Digital Single Market Strategy: 3 priorities on digital transformation of health and care (DTHC): citizens' access to their data; data infrastructure; interaction between citizens and healthcare providers for better health management. - Scope: activities in close coordination with EC.

Trusted digital solutions and Cybersecurity Call aims at multidisciplinary technologies and solutions in health and care with a focus on cybersecurity to assure data privacy, security and protection of health and care infrastructures. It addresses the need for secure and user-driven ICT-based solutions in early risk detection and interventions with big data approaches that enable aggregation of a variety of new and existing data sources such as medical records, registries, social platforms. Proposals are expected to make a significant step forward in platform building, interoperability between existing platforms, integration of relevant digital technologies such as IoT, AI, photonics, robotics, cloud and Big Data, and validation via pilots and experimentation facilities. Proposals should address platform building, largescale piloting, ecosystem building and standardization.

Trusted digital solutions and Cybersecurity SU-TDS-02-2018: Toolkit for assessing and reducing cyber risks in hospitals and care centres to protect privacy/data/infrastructures (RIA 3-5 M) - Digital technologies such as Big data, Internet of Things, Robotics, AI, High Performance Computing, Cloud and Cybersecurity offer new opportunities to transform healthcare systems and delivery. - Scope is to develop and implement of innovative methods, tools, guidelines or best practices addressing the need for cybersecurity in hospitals including remote care and homecare. SU-TDS-03-2018: Raising awareness and developing training schemes on cybersecurity in hospitals (CSA 1 M) - Scope: awareness raising of staff working in healthcare settings on security and data privacy is important to reduce cybersecurity vulnerabilities and exposure. - Appropriate training on the permitted use of patient health data/ information according to the requirements of relevant data protection law(s) is also a priority.

APPENDIX A. LESSONS LEARNED FROM ESRs

Lessons Learned From ESRs Excellence - KPIs: lack of them or explanations are missing, too general or match only partially to the call. - Concept: too superficial, lack of concrete examples or use cases. - Theory vs. practise: state of the art technology vs work packages in proposal vs future of technology and business cases. Reasoning must be crystallized and detailed. Impact - General or they match only partially to the call. - New biz possibility: general/unconvincing/unreal, briefly covered or biz partner is missing or unidentified. Implementation - Plan lacks details, roles of the partners unclear (incl. beneficiaries budgets), how outcomes are achieved or transferred to other work packages, costs too high, scheduling too tight. - Risk mgmt: general, missing details, backup plan missing.

APPENDIX B. A QUICK GUIDE HOW TO MAKE A PROPOSAL

A Quick Guide To Make a Proposal How to make a proposal - Must have: a draft plan for the exploitation and dissemination of the results! - REMEMBER to press the submit button! - DO NOT submit your proposal in the last 30 minutes! - Proposal evaluation will be made as submitted (!) not or their potential - Scores 0-5, minimum is 3/criterion, total threshold minimum is 10 points (in general). - IA and SMEs: Impact x 1,5 weight (!). - Always declare your company as SME if applicable (affects ranking if ties). - Always try to emphasize gender balancing, ethical principles and how to comply with legislation - Data Mgmt Plan is to be generated during the project, is mandatory in some proposals. - Ideal-ist.eu - new online pre-proposal (with national NCPs) check service!

A Quick Guide To Make a Proposal Help, I'm a Proposal Coordinator! - Try to crystallize core technical idea at an early stage, define draft partner roles (without knowing them yet). - Focus on at least one WP strategic goal. - Produce concise 3-4 page summary (project abstract & what becomes possible it project is done and successful). - Add new partners and listen to their ideas. - Always consult officials (NCPs). - Define real partner roles and delete some if they are not needed. - Organize at least one f2f partner meeting. - Start a partner commitment with Letter of Intent, industrial partners are not willing to sign NDAs in general. - Always write proposal text that you can actually deliver! - Nail the project management structure early - who does what, who is in charge, who is in advisory group.
