Chapter 2 Installing Worktop 2.5 2 This chapter describes how to install Worktop 2.5. This chapter discusses the following topics: System requirements Pre-installation steps Procedure to run the set-up Wizard Procedure to start Worktop For information on how to use Worktop in Central Deployment mode or in a Terminal Server environment, refer to the Worktop 2.5 Administration Guide. System requirements Worktop is a Windows-based or Win32-based thick-client application. The computer on which Worktop 2.5 is installed requires the following hardware and software: Hardware Pentium 200 MHz 64 megabytes (MB) of memory 80 MB of hard disk space VGA display adapter Software Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows 2008, Windows 2008 R2, Windows Vista, or Windows 7 Baan Windows: For Infor ERP Baan IV, at least B40c.59 is required. When running on Windows Vista, at least B40c.59 is required. For Infor ERP Baan 5.0, at least 7.1a.128 is required. When running on Windows Vista or later, at least 8.4a.02.8 is required. Installing Worktop 2.5 Infor ERP Baan 5.0c SP4* or later. An Infor ERP Baan 5.0c SP3 Tools Patch medium is distributed together with Infor ERP Baan 5.0c SP4. This update is required to run Worktop on SP4. For later versions, this update is not required. Infor ERP Baan 5.2a or later. Infor10 ERP Enterprise or later. To use Workflow: Infor Workflow 6.2 or 7.4 extension. Pre-installation steps Before you can use Worktop, you must install Baan Windows. Subsequently, you can create Baan Windows Configuration (BWC) files to connect to the Baan server you want to work on with Worktop. You can also create these files later on from Worktop. You must install BW because Worktop uses BW to integrate the Menu Browser and to launch Baan sessions. Installing Worktop 2.5 To install Infor BW for the first time on a system, complete the following steps: 1 Close all running applications. In the directory where the MSI setup package is located, start the Setup.exe file. A Windows Installer progress indicator is displayed: This dialog box closes automatically. The Welcome dialog box is displayed. 2 Click Next. The Destination Folder dialog box is displayed. 3 Click Change to change the destination folder for the Infor Worktop software. 4 Click Next. The Setup Type dialog box is displayed. 5 To run a complete setup, select setup type Complete. Click Next and proceed to step 7. A complete setup contains the resource files for all supported languages. Installing Worktop 2.5 The Custom Setup dialog box is displayed. 6 To select one or more specific languages, click the related button. On the menu that is displayed, select whether you want to install the resource files for a specific language. If you do not select any language, only the English resource files will be installed. 7 Click Next to continue with.the Ready to Install the Program dialog box. 8 To continue with the setup, click Install. To change the setup, click Back. 9 After you install the software, to exit the installation script, click Finish. Upgrading Worktop 2.5 The Worktop setup can also be used to upgrade an installed Worktop version. In case of an upgrade, Worktop will be installed in the same folder. All Worktop settings and existing Worktop documents are saved. Only the installed language resource files are updated. To perform a Worktop update, complete the following steps: 1 Close all running applications. In the directory in which the MSI setup package is located, start the Setup.exe file. The following dialog box is displayed:: 2 To continue the upgrade procedure, click Continue. Installing Worktop 2.5 3 To exit the setup program, when the setup is complete, click OK. You can now continue using the Worktop with the existing Worktop documents. Silently installing Worktop 2.5 To perform a silent installation or upgrade of the Worktop software, use the command line interface of the Worktop setup program. The following is a description of this command line interface: SYNOPSIS setup [/s] DESCRIPTION This command will install the Worktop software on the system. When no options are given, Windows dialog boxes will be displayed. The /s option can be used to allow the setup to be performed in silent mode. In silent mode, the setup tool will not show any dialog boxes, progress bars, or failure messages. EXIT CODES Code 0: Installation was successful. Code 1: A version of this setup.exe is already running. Code 2: Operating System version could not be determined. Code 3: No admin rights. Code 4: Error installing MSI runtime files. Code 5: Error installing Worktop. Code 6: User Canceled installation. Code 7: Error uninstalling Worktop. Installing Worktop 2.5 Starting Worktop During the Worktop installation, the installation program created a shortcut on the Start menu. You can start Worktop from this Start menu shortcut. Note: When you run Worktop for the first time, Worktop immediately opens the document Wizard, which enables you to create a new Worktop document. Chapter 3 Uninstalling Worktop 2.5 3 To uninstall Worktop, complete the following steps 1 Check that the Worktop application is closed. 2 Double-click Add\Remove Programs on the Control Panel. 3 Select Infor Worktop and click Remove A dialog box is displayed. 4 Click Yes to uninstall Worktop. Note: Uninstalling Worktop does not delete any Worktop documents, log files, or any files that were created after installation.
