Ordinance No. 371, of December 29, 2009 Objective: Evaluation of household and similar appliances, with a focus on security requirements in order to prevent consumption accidents and protect consumers through compulsory certification. Definition of Family Set of products manufactured in the same factory, which serve the same function and that necessarily satisfy the following conditions: Have the same basic design (in common parts or assemblies essential for safety) in terms of: applied technology, mechanical characteristics of the shell and plastic and metal materials used in the methods of fixing, finishing and insulation; Models differ in nominal electrical input characteristics (127 V or 220 V) and in the use of secondary or auxiliary functions.
Models of Certification Model 5 (Audit on Manufacturing Location) - Type test on samples taken from the manufacturer (initial certification) or from the local market (maintenance), assessment and approval of the manufacturer's Quality Management System - with audit. Model 7 (Batch) - Certification by lot. The samples are taken from a batch of product being collected samples to perform type testing and sampling (according to ABNT NBR 5426) - without audit.

Documentation Required Model 5: - Registration data: Applicant and Manufacturer; - Complaint Handling (must be arranged by the Local Representative/ Importer); - Family composition and likeness among models; - List of components and their suppliers, reporting those already certified; - Electrical schemes; - Assembly drawings or photographic records for products and subassemblies; - User and maintenance manuals; - Identification labels; - Certificate of the plug (when applicable); - Drawing, final art, or picture of individual packages; - Technical documentation of the printed circuit boards (when applicable); - External and internal photos; - Manufacturing Audit or Documentation of the company s Management System (a valid copy of the certificate and audit report); Documentation of Routine Tests. Model 7: - Copy of Social Contract and CNPJ card of the applicant; - Identification of the batch import documentation, if imported product; - Family composition and the similarity between the models; - Lists of components and their suppliers, informing those already certified; - Wiring Diagrams (Schematics); - Assembly drawings or photographic records of the product and subsets; - Instructions Manual of the Product; - Identification labels; - Compliance certificate of the plug (where applicable); - Drawing or Final Art, or photo of the individual package - Technical documentation of the printed circuit board (if applicable).
Maintenance of the Certification Process The Certificate of Compliance shall be valid for 3 years, if the annual maintenance of accreditation is performed, according to the criteria established by INMETRO and their relevant standards. Maintenance applies exclusively to certifications based on Model 5. Year 1 - Initial Certification Year 2 - Maintenance of Certification Year 3 - Maintenance of Certification Year 4 Recertification Maintenance of the certification includes the following steps: - Maintenance audit; - Maintenance Tests; - Routine Tests; - Analysis of technical compliance with the initial design.
