The Electricity Sector in the Kingdom: A History of Accomplishments & a Clear Vision for the Future Saudi Electricity System is the largest and most developed system in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, where the installed capacity reaches 75 GW, and customers have amounted to 8.5 million. The growth rate of the demand for electricity is about %7. According to the ambitious Saudi Vision 2030, the Kingdom is diversifying its energy resources by utilizing renewable energy resources, and in order to achieve the goals of the National Transformation Program (NTP) 2020, raising the power efficiency is being highlighted. In addition, the Electricity Sector is being structured and activities of the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) are being separated. Furthermore, %70 of the electricity generation assets will be privatized to enhance private sector contribution in the Electricity Sector. The KSA is working together with the GCC countries to develop electric energy market, regionally and internationally. In this context, Electricity System has been interconnected in the GCC countries.
