1 Introduction The Fabasoft Folio Web Client is accessed via a web browser. This white paper focuses on web browser settings that can be easily adjusted by users. For information about configuration tasks that should be carried out by system administrators consult the white paper Fabasoft Folio Client. 2 Software Requirements System environment: All information contained in this document implicitly assumes a Microsoft Windows environment. Supported platforms: For detailed information on supported operating systems and software see the software product information on the Fabasoft distribution media. Descriptions in this document are based on the following software: Microsoft Internet Explorer 11.0 Mozilla Firefox 43.0 Apple Safari 9.0 Microsoft Office 2010 SP2 LibreOffice 5.0.4 3 Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.1 Zone To benefit of all features of the Fabasoft Folio Web Client it is strongly recommended to add the web address of the Fabasoft Folio Web Client to the Trusted sites zone ( Local intranet works too). The security level for the respective zone can be set (increased) to Medium ( Tools > Internet Options > Security tab). If the Fabasoft Folio Web Client is added to the trusted sites and Microsoft Windows integrated authentication should be used, customize the zone. For User Authentication (Logon) use the setting Automatic logon with current username and password. Fabasoft Folio Web Client Configuration Possibilities 4
Additionally, make sure that Enable Integrated Windows Authentication is enabled ( Tools > Internet Options > Advanced tab > Security setting). 3.2 Temporary Internet Files In most cases no configuration is required. If you experience long load times, check your temporary Internet files settings. To check your settings, perform the following steps: 1. Open Microsoft Internet Explorer. 2. Open the Tools menu and click Internet Options. 3. On the General tab und Browsing History click Settings. 4. In the Check for newer versions of stored pages field select Every time I start Internet Explorer. Fabasoft Folio Web Client Configuration Possibilities 5
5. Disk space to use should be at least 50 MB. 3.3 Open Launching Shortcuts in the Same Window By default Microsoft Internet Explorer displays launching shortcuts in an already opened web browser window. If the Fabasoft Folio Web Client is opened in this window, it will be replaced by the shortcut content. By clearing the Reuse windows for launching shortcuts check box ( Tools > Internet Options > Advanced tab) this can be prevented. Fabasoft Folio Web Client Configuration Possibilities 6
3.4 Deactivate Compatibility View Websites from the Local intranet zone are automatically displayed in compatibility view. For an optimal view of Fabasoft Folio, deactivate this feature. Open the Tools menu and then click Compatibility View Settings. The Display intranet sites in Compatibility View option has to be disabled. 4 Mozilla Firefox 4.1 Pop-up Windows Pop-up windows should be allowed, to avoid problems when opening new windows from the Fabasoft Folio Web Client (e.g. Explore ). To allow pop-up windows, perform the following steps: 1. Open Mozilla Firefox. 2. On the Tools menu click Options. Fabasoft Folio Web Client Configuration Possibilities 7
3. On the Content tab disable Block pop-up windows or click Exceptions and create an entry for the address of the Fabasoft Folio Web Client. Note: If you want to open more than 20 pop-ups type about:config in the address bar, search for the entry dom.popup_maximum and define the desired value. 4.2 Close Windows To allow scripts to close web browser windows (necessary for some use cases), type about:config in the address bar, search for the entry dom.allow_scripts_to_close_windows and set the value true. 5 Apple Safari 5.1 Pop-up Windows Pop-up windows should be allowed, to avoid problems when opening documents or images. To configure this option select Preferences from the Safari menu, click the Security tab and disable the Block pop-up windows option. 6 Microsoft Outlook Access Check The Fabasoft Folio Client provides a Microsoft Outlook add-in for verifying that the recipients have valid Fabasoft Folio user accounts and the necessary rights to access the objects before sending the object links to them. Make sure that the Fabasoft Folio Client is installed. To activate the Fabasoft Folio Access Check, perform the following steps: 1. Open Microsoft Outlook. 2. On the Files tab click Options. 3. Under the Add-ins category, in the Manage field select COM Add-ins and click Go. 4. Enable Fabasoft Folio Access Check and click Ok. When composing a new e-mail a button will be available to perform the access check manually. But the access check is also carried out automatically when sending an e-mail. 7 LibreOffice Mail Merge on Linux Make sure that libreoffice-base_<version>.deb is installed.
