Step-by-Step Application Guide

STEP 1: CREATE AN ONLINE ACCOUNT Click the Apply button at the top of the page. If you do not have an account, click the Create Account link. Otherwise. log in using your email and password. If you already have an account but do not remember your password, please click the Forgot Password link to reset it. Account creation requires the following information: Full legal name -- At the test center, you will be required to present a valid and unexpired, government-issued ID/passport. Make sure the name on your application matches the ID you will present at the test center. Mailing address HRCI communicates with you using the address and e-mail that you list on your application. Demographic information --This will include information such as your industry, organization s name and size. This information is needed so that we can learn more about our certification candidates. We do not use this information to determine who is eligible to take an exam. 01/2017 HR Certification Institute 2

STEP 2: COMPLETE APPLICATION Once you have created your online account, select "My Application" in the banner at the top of the page. Then select "Apply for Certification". Complete all required fields. To complete your application: a. Select an exam type (aphr, PHR, SPHR etc.) b. Complete the certificant s information c. Bundle* - you can choose from different third-party vendor preparation options as well add an HRCI Practice Exam and Second Chance insurance, all in one easy step. You can learn more about each product within your HRCI application by clicking the details link. *Note: HR Certification Institute (HRCI ) does not endorse any particular preparation program or offering. We encourage prospective certification holders to use a variety of resources that reflect their learning styles and needs. Purchasing a certification product is NOT required and HRCI does not guarantee that an individual will pass based on the purchase of a certification preparation product. d. STEP 2: COMPLETE APPLICATION a. Click continue to acknowledge the nonrefundable application fee. b. If applicable, choose an Affiliated HR organization and click continue. * c. Clicking continue to acknowledge the application fee. d. Select the highest level of education completed and add your work experience - The position or positions listed in this section must exactly match the HRCI approved position codes. If you cannot find an exact match for your job title on the position code list, you must list that job title as Other and upload your official job description. If you do not provide this information, you will not be eligible to take this exam. e. Check if you need to request special accommodations. If yes, complete and upload the Special Accommodations Form. * Note: Membership information with affiliates has no bearing on HRCI's exam eligibility. STEP 3: COMPLETE AFFIRMATION You will be asked to affirm that the information submitted on the application is complete and true. The affirmation also attests that you have read the HR Certification Handbook and the Code of Ethical and Professional Responsibility and agree to be bound by all policies and procedures outlined in them. 01/2017 HR Certification Institute 5

STEP 4: PAYMENT Submit payment using a credit card. HRCI accepts Visa, Mastercard and American Express. Voucher Recipients: If the group coordinator has provided you with a Voucher, please insert the code in the Promo Code field so that the application and exam fees are waived. Please click check-out to complete the payment process. Note: Vouchers are valid for a period of 365 days commencing the date of purchase. In addition, vouchers only cover the application and exam fee. See terms below for details on Second Chance Insurance, certification preparation products, and rescheduling fees. STEP 5: SCHEDULE EXAM Exams are administered through our exam partner Prometric. Prometric operates a network of test centers in over 160 countries. To schedule an exam, click the "Schedule Exam" link on the receipt page of your application payment. We encourage you to schedule your exams early to get the dates that you are looking for as demand increases and spaces might fill up at certain times of the year. 01/2017 HR Certification Institute 7

STEP 6: TAKE EXAM On the selected exam day, bring an official valid and unexpired government issued identification (example: Passport). Visit our Exam Day Tips page, to learn more about what to expect on exam day. STEP 7: RECEIVE RESULTS You will receive preliminary results at the testing center and an official score report 2-4 weeks after testing. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ) Does my voucher code cover the application fee and exam fee? Yes. Your voucher code is only good for the application fee and exam fee of the certification you ve been assigned (e.g. If your voucher is for the PHR exam, it will not work for the aphr or SPHR exam). Please read the Terms & Conditions below for details. Do the vouchers cover Second Chance Insurance by HRCI, practice exams or any study aids? You may add study aids and Second Chance Insurance to the same cart as your exam, but the voucher will only cover the cost of the application fee and exam fee. The discount will be applied and you will be billed for any of the remaining items you have chosen. Can I use the voucher for my study aids instead? No. The voucher is only good for redemption of the application fee and exam fee. Do the vouchers expire and if so when? Yes. The last eight digits after the hyphen in the voucher code indicates the expiration date of the voucher (e.g. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx-20170831 = expiration date of August 31, 2017) If I have more questions, who do I contact? TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR VOUCHER REDEMPTION Vouchers are non-refundable and have no cash value. Once a candidate redeems a voucher and is deemed eligible for an exam, he/she must sit for an exam within 180 days from the application approval date (exam eligibility period). Candidates may test as soon as 14 days from the application approval date. If, as part of the application process, a candidate wants to purchase additional items, such as Second Chance Insurance or certification preparation, the candidate must purchase these as part of the check-out process with a credit card/check/wire transfer. Applicants must meet the specified eligibility requirements to take an HRCI exam. Applicants deemed ineligible by HRCI, will be offered a new voucher for a lower level exam. o Example: Applicant for PHR exam is deemed ineligible after review of application by HRCI. HRCI will offer applicant a new voucher to take the aphr exam. Candidates may change their exam type by paying a $50 change fee plus the difference in retail price of the exams (if the new exam is higher priced). No refunds available for exams with a lower retail price. A new voucher will be issued for the new exam and that voucher must be redeemed within 90 days. The change has to occur before the candidate schedules an exam test date at a testing center. o Note: Once an exam is scheduled, a candidate cannot change the exam type. Example: A candidate for the aphr exam realizes he/she is qualified to take the PHR exam. If the candidate has not yet scheduled an aphr exam at a testing center, he/she can change to the PHR exam by paying $100 ($50 change fee plus $ 50 exam type difference in retail price between aphr ($400) and PHR ($450) exams). Once candidates schedule an exam at a testing center, they may reschedule to another date within their original 180 eligibility timeframe by contacting Prometric and paying a change fee of $85. o Example: A Candidate for the SPHR is deemed eligible to take the exam on April 1. They schedule their exam for May 10. On April 30, the candidate decides to change the exam date to August 31. Since the rescheduled date falls within the original 180-day eligibility period, the candidate must reschedule by directly contacting Prometric and paying a change fee of $85. No refunds are issued to candidates who let 180-day original eligibility period expire without taking an exam. No refunds are issued to candidates who are a no show for an exam scheduled at an exam testing center. 01/2017 HR Certification Institute 10
