Install instructions for Windows Windows Install Instructions Please make sure you have configured Oracle before starting the installer. or MYSQL 1. Download SamePage_Windows.exe to a temporary folder (example: c:\temp). 2. Run the SamePage_Windows.exe by double clicking it. 3. Follow the instructions. Click 'Next' to continue. Information regarding SamePage will be displayed. Page 1 of 9
Click 'Next' to continue. Before installing SamePage, the user should read the system requirements and configuration details carefully. The user should also ensure that the database is configured and running before starting the installer. 4. Following steps are shown to the user at the time of the installation. 4.1. License Type Screen is shown to the user. User can select "Enterprise" or "Community" License. User should enter Page 2 of 9
the Licensee name and an email address. A valid email address is required for licensing the product. Click "Next" to continue. 4.2. License Screen is shown to the user. To read, scroll the sidebar. Select "I accept the agreement" to install SamePage application and click "Next" to continue. 4.3 Depending on the license type selected by the user, installer will connect to License Server and download a 30-day evaluation license. If the license is downloaded successfully then, following message appears. Please note that this example shows the message for Enterprise license. A similar message will appear for Community license. If the installer could not download the license from License Server due to network connectivity issue or any other problem, following message appears. 4.4. This screen will allow user to create SamePage shortcut's in Start Menu. Click "Next" to continue. 4.5. Next screen is the installation directory. A default value of installation directory is shown, user can enter any other location for the installation directory for SamePage application. Click "Next" to continue. Page 4 of 9
4.6. Java version 1.5.x is required for the application to install and run. This screen will allow user to use the inbuilt compatible JRE (option '1' which is the default value) or user can enter the location of J2SE Software Development Kit having version 1.5.x, then press "Enter" key to continue. For application performance user can select the default values for minimum and maximum memory or overwrite the values, in the SamePage Memory Usage screen. Click "Next" to continue. 4.7. SamePage works with Oracle and MySQL database. The user can select the database Oracle (default value) or MySQL. Click "Next" to continue. Page 5 of 9
4.8. Next screen will let the user enter the database connection details like DB Username, DB Password, DB Connection URL and the DB Name. At this point attempt is made by installer to connect to the database, only if successful, the next screen is shown. Click "Next" to continue. 4.9. In the host configuration screen, user can enter the hostname where SamePage is installed and the port number where SamePage is listening. Also this screen allows a user to enter SMTP host for e-mails required in the SamePage application and the Administrator's email-id for monitoring the application. Click "Next" to continue. 4.10. Next screen will allow a user to install SamePage as a service. Click "Next" to continue. 4.11. After user has completed the above steps, the following screen is shown for verification. Page 7 of 9
4.12. Click "Next" key to continue with the installation. This step would take couple of minutes to install the SamePage filesystem and create the database schema. 4.13. User may see the warning "Schema already exists. Do you want to drop and recreate the schema? [Y N]", Page 8 of 9
this happens when the SamePage database schema already exists and asks for the confirmation to drop and recreate the schema. User can enter 'Y' or 'N' as per the requirement. If user selects 'Y' then existing SamePage database schema will be dropped and a new database schema will be installed. After this step the installation for SamePage application is completed. 5. Click "Finish" to exit the wizard. 6. After Step-5, run the catalina.bat file from "[samepage_install_dir]/tomcat/bin" directory Example: 1. catalina.bat run or 2. startup.bat Note: Only if user has installed SamePage application as a service then follow these steps: (a) Click "Start" in Windows taskbar and then click "Control Panel". (b) Click "Administrative Tools" and then click "Services" icon. (c) User can see the service with name "etouch SamePage". Right click on it and then click start. This will start the SamePage application. 7. To verify successful installation open the browser and type the http://<hostname>:<port>/cm/ in browser address bar and hit enter. User should see the SamePage home page. Replace the host and port with the correct values given at the time of installation. 8. Login into SamePage application by using default username and password. The default Username is " system" and password is " password".
