Open Smart Metering Gateway EWIO-9180-M Energy consumption monitoring and energy monitoring in buildings, on machines, installations and systems
Open Smart Metering C Logline Powerful components for energy data collection Energy consumption monitoring and energy monitoring in buildings, on machines, installations and systems. is extending its C Logline range further by including products for building and industry automation using the powerful data logger EWIO-9180-M. The EWIO-9180-M (Ethernet Web I/O 9180 Metering) is a powerful data logger for tasks in energy management and energy controlling and the like. Counter data, temperature and other sensor signals can be detected via the integrated I/Os of the M-Bus interface, and switching and actuating signals can be generated. The data for higher-level energy management systems are provided by an integrated database via LAN. Communication with the management level can also be established, alternatively, via WLAN or UMTS adapter. An integrated web server allows the EWIO-9180-M to be configured and parameterized via a web browser, independently of the platform. Various applications can be programmed using the Linux Shell installed on the server or using C/C++ or the JAVA development environment. The number of I/Os can be increased flexibly by means of extension modules that can be connected as an option. DIN EN ISO 50001 describes the requirements of an energy management system. Its core elements are energetic evaluation and energy performance indices: Among other things, the company must: a) analyze the use of energy and energy consumption on the basis of measure ments b) identify the main energy users on the basis of energy consumption c) perform activities for improving energy-based services d) determine, record and regularly check appropriate energy performance indices. For carrying out all these activities, an easyto-operate energy data collection central unit, a metering gateway, is required. To meet these requirements and based on experience with more than 1,000 installations, has developed the open smart metering gateway "EWIO-9180-M". This open smart metering gateway creates consumption transparency, promotes energy efficiency and increases energetic use. The EWIO-9180-M (M stands for metering) is an IP-based solution, allowing the user to give the consumer exact data related to his energy consumption and his meter counts. The device concept is directed at so-called VARs (Value-Added Resellers) and OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers). For these user groups, the two following applications are possible. The "Open Smart Metering" approach from gives users the option to adjust the EWIO-M to their own application situation.
Applications for the ewio-9180-m Application 1 - Application programming using the ewio-9180-m The EWIO-M offers the option of implementing standard-language-based individual functions by means of shell script or even C/C++ that run directly on the EWIO-M. This gives the programmer access down to the core of the Linux operating system. The reason for this is that the programming target group of VARs and OEMs wants to differentiate it increasingly from the competition via a specific use. EWIO-M gives it a software and hardware platform that frees it from having to develop its own device. Target users: Energy evaluation service providers and embedded Linux programmers who want to run their own applications on/with EWIO-M. Application 2 - Data evaluation using the ewio-9180-m In its basic functionality, the EWIO-M is a fully functional smart metering gateway, a data logger. It collects meter counts and temperatures via the M bus, saves them in accordance with the reading period ((5 min.) 15 minutes, 1 hour,...) for up to 40 days and more for 80 meters or data points power-failure-proof in an implemented SQLite database and transfers the data records in intelligently structured CSV files to the evaluating computer via FTP or by e-mail. These CSV files can also be edited directly from MS Excel. Target users: Energy evaluation software service providers that communicate with the EWIO-M exclusively via the TCP/IP interface. At the center of this device approach, various extension modules and bus modules are additionally available, and for configuration a web browser integrated into the EWIO-M is available. The web browser allows the end user to operate the inputs and outputs of the EWIO-M directly protected by password. He can set the relays and query the inputs. This is a useful function for carrying out start/stop or ON/OFF interventions by hand.
