User Guide 1. Getting started How do I access Freeview Plus? The first thing you need to do is connect your Freeview Plus receiver to the internet to enjoy the many features of Freeview Plus. Your manufacturer manual will have information on how to do this. How does it work? When you re watching TV with your Freeview Plus receiver, you ll briefly see a prompt at the top left of the screen. Press the Green button on your remote to launch Freeview Plus. You will then be taken to the Freeview Plus mini guide for the channel selected. In the mini guide, you can see what's on now and what s on next in a carousel view. Your remote control has all the buttons to navigate through Freeview Plus. Use your arrow keys to navigate up, down, left and right. Press the OK button in the centre to activate your selection. Use the Back or Return button to go back at any point, and the coloured buttons to access the Main menu at the top of your screen for - My TV, Guide, Search and Exit. So how do I exit? You can exit Freeview Plus at any time by pressing the Red button or arrowing straight to the top of your screen and pressing OK on Exit. 1
2. Using the Electronic Program Guide What is the Electronic Program Guide and how do I use it? If you want to know what s on now, what s on next or what s on later in the week, the Freeview Plus Electronic Program Guide has all the answers. To see more on screen, use the Guide, which has a multi-channel view of what s on. How do I navigate around? Use the arrow keys, OK and Back or Return buttons to move through the Guide. You can also use the coloured buttons to access the Freeview Plus Menu for My TV, Guide and Search. Press Red at any time to exit Freeview Plus. What does the mini guide do? The mini guide is your first screen and will provide information for the channel selected. It will show you what s on now, what s on next and a variety of catch up programs. 2
You can also scroll across in the mini guide and use the OK button on To Guide to get the full guide. You can also arrow down to access catch up programs from the live channel on the screen. You can find out more about a program by pressing OK on the highlighted program. Here you ll find out more information about the show. In the program information page, you can set a reminder if Set Reminder is highlighted by pressing OK. You can also Arrow left to Add Favourite and press OK to make a program a Favourite. Your Favourites will now be available in My TV. Arrow down to find available catch-up episodes for that program under Catch Up. Arrow down again and Freeview Plus will show you other programs you may like under More Like This. You can press OK on any program and find more information. Press the Back or Return button to get back to the mini guide. From the mini guide, press the To Guide button again to gain access to the Guide with a multichannel view of what s on. You can see more channels by using the up and down arrows. Arrow left into Catch-Up TV or arrow right for what s on now, next and later. Press OK on a highlighted program for more information, and to set a reminder or save as a Favourite. Press the Back or Return button to go back to the Guide. 3
3. Enjoying Catch Up TV How can I watch Catch Up TV on my TV? You can access Catch Up TV from the mini guide by arrowing down to the Catch Up carousel or the Guide by arrowing left on the highlighted channel you re on (only if Catch Up is available on that channel). A play icon will indicate whether Catch Up TV is available on that channel. Here you have direct access to seven days of Catch Up TV. Once you get to the end of the seven days, you can go directly into the network s Catch Up service to browse further. 4
How do I play Catch Up programs? You can play Catch Up programs by pressing OK on your remote when a program is highlighted with the Play icon as an option. Are there any other ways I can watch Catch Up? Another way to access Catch Up TV is to scroll down to the Go To carousel in My TV screen and Arrow right through the services and simply press OK to go to the service you want to browse. 4. How to set reminders and favourites How can I set a reminder? Reminders make it easy to remember when your favourite shows are on by keeping track for you. 5
If you re looking at the program information screen, you can press OK when Set Reminder is highlighted. You ll see a prompt on your screen that will allow you to select the number of minutes prior the program start for your reminder. You can use the arrow in the on screen prompt to increase the amount of time for your reminder. When you are finished, press OK and then your reminder has been set and will show up as Edit Reminder with a tick next to it. If you want to cancel the reminder or amend the number of minutes prior the program start press Edit Reminder with a tick next to it. Can I use Freeview Plus to help keep track of my favourite shows? Yes. With Freeview Plus, you can also make a program a Favourite. Favourites helps manage your favourite shows by listing episodes coming up in the future, and how many days are left on a Catch Up episode. This makes it easy to keep track of programs on live and Catch Up TV. 6
5. Understanding My TV What is My TV? My TV is your personalized screen dedicated to help you enjoy TV program discovery by combining programs based on your viewing preferences. These include Live TV, Catch Up, Our Picks, Favourites plus Recommended For You. The description of the live or selected program is also provided. You can also browse by genre in My TV. Where will I find My TV? To access My TV, press the My TV button on the top of the screen or press the yellow button on your remote. 7
Can I remove shows? Yes. You can also remove shows from your favourites list by going to the Program Information page and clicking the Favourite with a tick next to it. A prompt will appear on screen to remove from Favourites and press OK to confirm. 6. Watching Catch Up TV My TV provides an easy way to access all the available Catch Up services in one place. Arrow down and select OK on the Catch Up carousel or the Go To carousel for the network s Catch Up service you want to explore. You will be taken directly to that Catch Up service to browse for your favourite shows. 7. Browse and Search How can I browse and search for programs? If you know the name of the program you re looking for, you can go straight to Search at the top of your screen or by pressing the blue button on your remote. Press OK and you ll be taken to the Search screen. Use the arrows, letters and OK on your remote control to type the name of the program you re looking for. This will intuitively help you as the more letters you press, the more your search is refined. Any previous searches will also appear on screen. If your show comes up, arrow down to highlight the program and press OK to select. 8
What if I just want to browse what s on? If you re not sure of what you want to watch, but you feel like watching a specific type of show, such as a drama or a documentary, you can do that in the My TV section. In My TV, you can browse live TV, Catch Up, Our Picks and Favourites if you have selected any. There will be personalized recommendations under Recommended For You. You can also browse programs by genre. There is also Go To at the bottom of the screen that will take you directly to the TV networks catch up services. 8. Changing Settings How do I change my settings? There are a few settings in your Freeview Plus service that you may want to change from time-totime. In the main menu at the top of every screen is the option for settings by pressing the yellow button on your remote. Setting options will appear on the screen. From this screen, you can change and remove reminders. You can remove programs from your favourites. You can review your parental controls. You can clear all previous user data. You can manage your help settings. 9
9. Recording Programs Can I record programs? Yes. It s easy to record a program if you have a Freeview Plus certified PVR. A Freeview Plus certified PVR allows you to record a show or series and watch content when you want, at a time that suits you. If you wish to record a program in the program description screen, press OK when Record is highlighted. You will then be prompted with the option to either record that individual episode, OR record the entire series. All you have to do is use the left or right arrow and press OK to select. 10
Can I record live and Catch Up TV? Yes, you can record live TV if you have a Freeview Plus enabled PVR. Catch Up TV cannot be recorded. Can I record multiple channels simultaneously? The amount of channels you may record at once is dependent on the PVR product. Contact the manufacturer for any queries relating to the capacity at which it can record. How far ahead can I record a program? You can record any program that appears in the Freeview Plus EPG (Electronic Program Guide). The Freeview Plus EPG previews programs seven days ahead into the future. 11
