P age 2 Outgoing SMPT Settings problems - SMTP Settings for South African Internet Service Providers Note: If SMTP Authentication is not catered for by your email program, you must rather use your ISP's SMTP server. If you connect to a public Wi-Fi connection, log on to a different internet service provider (at home for example) or change your internet supplier (ISP) you may be unable to download your e-mail via your e- mail client unless you update your smtp settings, but you can still connect to your mail server by simply connecting via the webmail link listed on page 3 of this document. E.g. if you have broadband service through Telkom, this would be smtp.saix.net as listed below SMTP Settings for South African internet service providers Telkom smtp.saix.net (ADSL) smtp.telkomsa.co.za (56k dial up) smtp.telkomsa.net or smtp.dsl.telkomsa.net for 8Ta Internet Solutions smtp.isdsl.net (ADSL) smtp.dial-up.net (56k dial up on IS) Vodacom smtp.vodacom.co.za MTN smtp.mtn.co.za OR mail.mtn.co.za iburst smtp.wbs.co.za Sentech smtp.sentech.co.za MWEB smtp.mweb.net (ADSL) smtp.mweb.co.za (56k dial-up) Iafrica smtp.uunet.co.za smtp.iafrica.com Tiscali smtp.tiscali.co.za Netactive smtp.netactive.co.za Global smtp.global.co.za Other Please contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) for the correct settings should they not be listed above

P age 3 Webmail: With Webmail you can access your mailbox on any internet connected computer anywhere in the world. Simply follow the login instructions below: 1 Open a Web browser (or a WAP browser, if you are working from a handheld device), and type the URL: http://mail.your-domain.com Press ENTER. The webmail login screen will open. 2 Type the user name and password specified above and click Log in. This option functions similar to Gmail, Yahoo mail etc. When you first log on please be sure to create and test your sent, draft, junk and deleted folders. Also check to ensure sent e-mails are stored in your sent folders and that your Notify me of a successfully sent message option is activated. It s important to note that with this option you are communicating directly with your mail server and the possibility of connection terminations are greatly increased resulting in a typed e-mail being lost midway. We would thus strongly recommend that you first type out long e-mails in a word processor such as MS Word, Open Office, MS Notepad, MS Wordpad etc first then simply copy & paste into a new e-mail on your webmail. This way one does not loose one s e-mail should your connection with the network be dropped or should you experience a power failure. After your mail has been sent be sure to check that it has been saved in your sent folder. Please note that with Microsoft now automatically updating users Internet Explorer (IE) software, browser issues may sometimes be experienced when connecting to any servers directly or indeed any website, especially with newer browsers. For this reason, it has become necessary to have at least two different internet browsers installed on one's computer. We recommend that Mozilla Firefox be installed as an alternative to Microsoft's Internet Explorer. You can also use Google Chrome. This way, if you experience any problems on one browser you can simply log on using your alternative browser. Finally, please be sure to login occasionally to delete old e-mails in your Inbox, sent draft and junk mail folders. Email Setup for Windows 8 Mail These easy to follow guides provide step-by-step instructions on how to setup and troubleshoot your email program, with personalised screenshots providing visual examples to follow.
