Uniplex Business Software User Guide Supplement V9.20 This document contains changes to the User guide and should be read in conjunction with that document. IMAP Issues with Uniplex UBS Mail New for UBS 9.20 is the introduction of a Post Office Protocol Version 3 (POP3) server. This means that users can now access their mail using any external mail program that uses the IMAP or POP3 protocol. Users can now use an external mail program as their only interface to the Uniplex Mailstore, but if they use both an IMAP client and the standard Uniplex Mail interface on a character terminal, there are some issues to be aware of: 1 Mail sent using a IMAP or POP3 client will be stored in a Uniplex mailbox called, for example, Sent Items. Because the messages did not originate from the Uniplex Mail interface, they will be shown in Incoming Mail, not in Check Mail Sent as expected. 2 The IMAP or POP3 client may show folders with the titles Archived, Deferred, and UBS Sent. These folders correspond to the Read Archived Mail and Check Sent Mail options of UBS Mail. The client cannot add messages or subfolders. 3 An IMAP client can create folders with names longer than 15 characters and can create nested mailboxes. These can be selected using the Uniplex Mail interface, and the messages can be read, but the Uniplex Mail interface cannot be used to send mail directly to these mailboxes. 4 IMAP and POP3 clients cannot read messages which have been password protected by the Uniplex Mail interface. Other changes to the Uniplex Mail character terminal interface. - Mail received from a non-uniplex system now has the Internet mail header stored with the message. When reading the message an ex- Manual version: 9.20 Document version: V1.0 PAGE i

tra ring menu item appears called header which, when selected displays the internet header. - When replying to a message, A new dialog box appears entitled Reply To Sender. You can select that all other recipients of the original message also receive the reply. The names of the other recipients (if any) will be copied from the To and CC letter information fields of the original message to the CC field of the Send form. You can select that the original message is included in the reply. The main text of the message will be copied into the Memo Pad and insert mode will be selected, There are additional options for the style of the message header, the prefix added to the ss start of each line s and the maximum length of each line. - When forwarding a message with attached files, you are now asked if you want to include them. If you select no, the Attach field on the following form is blank, and you can enter the name of other files to attach. - Check Mail Sent can now show a status of Not Uniplex. This occurs if the destination has been configured as not being a Uniplex mail system. Notifications are not expected from this user and therefore no Unread letter notification will be generated. Euro Currency Sign There are two input key sequences that can be used for the new Euro Sign: Esc % E and F20 = E (commonly Esc Esc 0 = E). The actual Euro sign is only printed or displayed on devices that support it and which Uniplex has been configured to use. Otherwise, terminals display it as an inverse video e and printers print it as EUR (the standard currency code for the Euro). The Euro is included in the monetary formats available int he Spreadsheet. PAGE ii
