Explorer The HPV Explorer is a serial communication program used to work with the HPV 600/900 s parameters via a computer s serial port The program can: 1. Transfer parameters from the PC to the drive (HPV 600/900) 2. Transfer parameters from the drive (HPV 600/900) to the PC 3. Compare two parameter files and report any differences 4. Save the parameters to a file 5. Edit parameter values on the PC 6. WARRANTY Standard products manufactured by the Company are warranted to be free from defects in workmanship and material for a period of one year from the date of shipment, and any products which are defective in workmanship or material will be repaired or replaced, at the Company s option, at no charge to the Buyer. Final determination as to whether a product is actually defective rests with the Company. The obligation of the Company hereunder shall be limited solely to repair or replace, at the Company s discretion, products that fall within the foregoing limitations, and shall be conditioned upon receipt by the Company of written notice of any alleged defects or deficiency promptly after discovery and within the warranty period, and in the case of components or units purchased by the Company, the obligation of the Company shall not exceed the settlement that the Company is able to obtain from the supplier thereof. Connections and Start-up 1. Ensure the proper electrical connections between the digital operator port of the HPV 600/900 and the serial port (COM1 or COM2 or COM3 or COM4) of a Windows based computer. The cable used to make the electrical connection is a straight DB-9 cable. (Magnetek pn HPV-CABLE) 2. From Windows execute HPV-Explorer.exe or double-click on the icon. 3. HPV PC transferring parameters from the HPV to PC HPV PC is the process of the HPV 600/900 sending all of its parameter values (from a file with the extension.par) to a computer. This process can be used for memory backup. A data transfer from the drive to the computer is the only one possible while the drive is running a motor. 1. Select the HPV PC function Troubleshooting tip If changes have been made to a currently loaded parameter file, the software will prompt if the changes should be saved 2. PC HPV transferring parameters from the PC to HPV PC HPV is the process of a computer sending all settable parameters (normally the.par file) to a HPV 600/900. This process can be used to set up the drive with a set of pre-configured parameters. IMPORTANT It is not recommended for the HPV 600/900 to be running a motor while transferring parameters from the PC to the HPV drive PC HPV. This could lead to a dangerous operating condition. 1. 5. Parameter transfer options Transfer filename.par to the HPV will send parameter file to HPV after first checking the software version and parameter structure on the HPV Resend will send parameter file to HPV without first checking the software version and parameter structure on the HPV. Note: the resend function will only be enabled after a successfully parameter transfer has occurred and is disabled if the drive is powered down or the cable is disconnected. This is most useful when actively editing parameters rather than using the digital operator. Exit returns to main screen 9
Print transferring parameters from the HPV to the PC 1. Select the Print function. This will print to the PC s defined default printer. 10
Create HTML file allows you to create an electronic parameter file 1. Select the Create HTML file function. 2. Select HTML file path and name 11
Edit Header allows you to edit the header for parameter file 1. Select the Edit Header function. 2. Edit the header text. 12
Compare allows you to compare two parameter sets (either drive or file) 1. Select the Compare function. 2. Comparing parameters to another parameter file. Select Compare to FILE and Browse for file on disk 3. Select parameter file path and name. 13
