First Time Use of Remote Access Effective October 1, 2017, the F5 Big-IP Edge Client will be required to access your STRS Ohio Shared Desktops Computers(s) from a different location via a Remote Desktop Connection. Before you begin, you will need the following information: STRS Ohio Network Username STRS Ohio Network Password RSA PIN RSA Token The one-time install of the new client is not browser dependent and works on most operating systems, therefore, simplifies the remote access process. F5 BIG-IP Mac Edge Client Installation 1. On a computer with Internet access, open a web browser, such as Safari. 2. Navigate to https://remote.strsoh.org. The STRS Ohio Remote Access page displays. 3. In the Access my workstation section, under Quick Steps, click the Download here link. 4. Open Finder. 5. In the Finder Sidebar list, select Downloads. 6. Double-click on BIGIPMacEdgeClient folder. 7. Double-click on the file named mac_edgesvpn.pkg. 8. The Install BIG-IP Edge Client package opens and displays the following screen: 9. Click on the CONTINUE button. September 12, 2017 Page 4

14. The message, Installer.app is trying to install new software. Type your password to allow this appears. 15. In the Password text box, type the password you use to login to your Mac. 16. Click on the INSTALL SOFTWARE button. 17. Once the installation is finished, The installation was completed successfully message appears. 18. How to Disable the F5 BIG-IP Mac Edge Client at Startup By default, the F5 BIG-IP Mac Edge Client displays automatically at startup. To disable this feature, perform the following steps: 1. Select System Preferences. 2. Select Users & Groups. 3. Select Current User. 4. Select the Login Items tab. 5. Select BIG-IP Edge Client. 6. Click on the - button. (BIG_IP_Login.png). F5 BIG-IP Mac Edge Client Access 1. Open Finder. 2. In the Finder Sidebar list, select Applications. 3. You should see the BIG-IP Edge Client.app app. 4. Double-click on the BIG-IP Edge Client app option. 5. From the F5 BIG-IP Edge Client window, click on the CONNECT button. Page 7 September 12, 2017
NOTE: You must have an RSA token to use F5 APM since it uses RSA SecurID authentication for access. 6. In the RSA SecurID Username text box, type your username (the username is the same as your network username). 7. Press [TAB] to place your cursor in the RSA SecurID PIN + Token Code text box. 8. In the RSA SecurID PIN + Token Code text box, type your PIN followed by the 6-digit authentication code from your RSA token, in that order, with no separation between the two. 9. Click the LOGON button. NOTE: Inactivity timers exist that will disconnect your session if no activity is detected. September 12, 2017 Page 8
10. Once the F5 Connected window appears, continue on to the Microsoft Remote Desktop Application topic. Microsoft Remote Desktop Application 1. Open the Apple App store application. 2. In the search window, enter Microsoft Remote Desktop and press [RETURN]. 3. The result of your search appears in the search window. 4. Click on the Microsoft Remote Desktop App. 5. Click on the INSTALL button. 6. From the Open drop-down list, select the Open option. Page 9 September 12, 2017
7. Click on the NEW icon. NOTE: You must know your STRS workstation name as it will be used in the next steps. 8. On the General tab, in the Connection Name text box, enter the STRS Workstation name (e.g., hurstt). 9. On the General tab, in PC Name text box, enter the STRS Workstation name (e.g., hurstt). 10. On the General tab, from the Credentials group, in the Username text box, enter your STRS Ohio Network username (e.g., t1\hurstt). 11. On the General tab, from the Credentials group, in the Password text box, enter your STRS Ohio Network password. 12. On the General tab, in the Resolution text box, leave default set to Native. 13. On the General tab, in the Colors text box, leave default set to High Color (16 bit). 14. On the General tab, in the Full screen mode text box, leave default set to OS X native. 15. On the General tab, click the Start session in full screen checkbox. 16. On the General tab, click the Use all monitors checkbox if you use more than one monitor. September 12, 2017 Page 10
17. Click on the x in the upper left hand corner to save the changes. 18. From the Microsoft Remote Desktop window, select the desired computer name. 19. Click on the red START icon. 20. Second Time Use of Remote Access After the initial one-time install of the F5 BIG-IP Edge Client and having previously saved your Microsoft Remote Desktop settings, the second time you use Remote Access is rather simple as long as you have the following items: STRS Ohio Computer Name Network Password RSA Token PIN Number NOTE: The F5 BIG-IP Edge Client must be installed on each device you use to access the STRS Ohio Network. Connect to the STRS Ohio Network Bear in mind, you must first connect to the BIG-IP Edge Client before a Remote Desktop Connection can be run. 1. Open your Applications folder. 2. Click on the F5 BIG-IP Edge Client option. 3. Click on the CONNECT button. September 12, 2017 Page 12

7. Once the F5 Connected window appears, open the Applications folder. 8. From the Dock, click on the Microsoft Remote Desktop icon. NOTE: If the Microsoft Remote Desktop icon does not appear on the Dock, it can be located in the Applications folder. 9. From the Microsoft Remote Desktop window, select the desired computer name. 10. Click on the red START icon. NOTE: On the Remote Desktop Connection window, the Computer Name and User Name you last connected to automatically displays. You are now connected to your STRS Ohio Network workstation! Disconnect from F5 BIG-IP Mac Edge Client 1. Once disconnected from your Remote Desktop session, you must logout or disconnect from the Big-IP Edge Client. 2. Choose WINDOW CLOSE CONNECTION to close the Remote Desktop session or press [COMMAND + W]. 3. Click on the DISCONNECT button. You are now disconnected from the Big-IP Edge Client! Appendix Change or Reset SecurID PIN for a RSA Token STRS Ohio associates does not require IT assistance to change or reset the SecurID PIN for their RSA token. 1. On a computer with Internet access, open a web browser such as Internet Explorer or Firefox. 2. Navigate to https://telework.strsoh.org. 3. In the RSA SecurID Username field, enter your STRS Ohio Username if blank. 4. In the RSA SecurID (PIN + Token Code) field, enter the 6-digit authentication code from your RSA token. 5. Tap the LOGON button. 6. Enter a y to respond to the question Are you ready to enter a new PIN? (y/n). 7. Provide a PIN of your choice. The PIN must be a string of 6-8 alphanumeric characters. 8. Tap the LOGON button. NOTE: For subsequent logins, your password will consist of this PIN and the authentication code from your RSA token. September 12, 2017 Page 16
