The domain name registration will automatically renew when the registration period is over. So if you registered it for a year, it will automatically renew in one year. (TIP: Since it costs so little to register a domain name, it is practical to register it for multiple years if that domain name is important to you and you can afford to do so.) The small monthly charge for hosting your domain on WPGateway s high speed Amazon server is probably already included in your monthly WPGateway billing, depending on which plan you ve selected. When you are logged in to your members area, click the Plans menu item to know what is covered under your current plan. You can change plans at any time. Page 1 of 8
How to Order a Domain from Inside Your WPGateway Members Area 1. Click the Domains menu item to display your main dashboard. 2. Click the Order Domain button. 3. Select the closest server from the drop-down list. 4. Enter the domain name you are interested in purchasing. 5. Click Search to find out if that domain name is available. You may have to search multiple times before you find a domain name that is available. Page 2 of 8
6. When Search has shown that the domain name is available, the Domain Registration details will display. 7. The cost listed will be the actual cost that is passed straight across to you, without any additional fees added by WPGateway. 8. Select the number of years that you would like to register this domain name for. If you know you plan to keep the domain name for a long time, it is a good idea to register it for multiple years so you do not accidently lose the registration if life gets in the way and you miss the annual renewal date. 9. Verify that everything is accurate and that the domain name is spelled exactly the way you want. Select Next to continue. Your domain purchase will be completed instantly, and your new domain will be automatically added to your WPGateway hosting. Page 3 of 8
Automatic Configuration on High Speed Server 1. Success messages will scroll past as each part of the process is completed. 2. The final success message lets you know that everything went well, and that only the cpanel account needs to get created in order for you to be able to start installing your website. 3. It may take a couple of hours for the location of your new domain to be made accessible from all over the internet. Sometimes it takes only minutes. But as soon as it is accessible, WPGateway will create the cpanel for your account and then you will be able to begin working on developing your website. The Main Dashboard Shows the Status of Your Domain The main dashboard shows the status of your domains. To see when your newly purchased domain has had the cpanel account created and is ready for you to begin developing your website: 1. Click Domains to display the central dashboard. 2. Find your newly purchased domain. 3. Check the Cpanel column. The green + (PLUS) shows that your cpanel account has been created and is hosted on one of the Amazon high-speed servers used by WPGateway. 4. Check the Status column. The green Active shows that your domain is ready for you to take the next step and install content on your website. NOTE: The fastest, easiest, and almost magical way to install a niche website theme on your domain is to install it directly from within WPGateway. That process is covered in a different tutorial. Managing the List of Domains You Purchased From Within Your WPGateway Account Go to Server > Bought Domains to see the list of domains that you have purchased from within your WPGateway account. For each domain you have purchased from inside your WPGateway members area, you will see: 1. The domain Name 2. The Expiration Date of the domain name registration. This is when you need to renew the registration or else suffer the loss of the domain name. 3. When Auto Renew is selected, it shows that the registration is set to automatically renew at the expiration date. When you purchase a domain from inside your WPGateway members area, this is set to automatically renew. You can click the box to toggle Auto Renew off or on. 4. The Status of the domain. Active is good. 5. The date when this domain name was registered last. 6. The Action dropdown allows you to Update Nameservers. Clicking this option will show you what the current nameservers are set to, and will allow you to change the nameservers if you wish. If you are hosting this domain with WPGateway, simply leave these nameservers as they are. You would only change the nameservers if you were wanting to move this domain and host it somewhere else. In that case, you would get the new nameservers from your other hosting company and you would enter them here. Page 6 of 8
Understanding Which Account is Charged for Your Domain Purchase When you purchase a domain name through WPGateway, you are instantly charged as soon as you confirm that you want to purchase that domain. You are not directed to an order page and asked for your credit card or your Paypal email address, because WPGateway is already linked to an active billing account; so your domain purchase is simply charged to that same account. To find out what account will be charged for your domain purchase, all you need to do is to find out what billing method is linked to your WPGateway account. 1. Choose Account > Billing from the menu 2. On the Account Detail page, you can see the Default Payment Settings showing the default payment method that you have defined. In this case, Paypal is the default payment method. Click Credit Card and then Save if you want to change to a credit card. 3. The Paypal Detail section shows the information on which Paypal account is being used as the default payment method. At the far right, the Edit link can be used to change the Paypal account that is linked to WPGateway. 4. Click Add New Credit Card if you want to add a credit card to be used instead. Whatever billing account is set on this page at the time you purchase your domain name will the be the account that is instantly charged for the domain name when you order the domain through WPGateway.
