Installation Power Requirements The model MT1020B power distribution hub contains an internal universal switching supply which requires input power of single phase 100 to 264 VAC at 47 to 63 Hz. The unit contains a four port USB 2.0 hub and a power entry module consisting of a power cord receptacle and fuse holder (see Figure 1). The fuse holder contains a 5x20 mm, 250 VAC, 3.15 A, slow-blow fuse. Ground Requirements Figure 1. Power Entry Module with Fuse Holder To minimize shock hazard, the instrument chassis must be connected to an electrical protective earth ground. The instrument must be connected to the AC mains through a grounded power cable, with the ground wire firmly connected to an electrical ground at the power outlet. Any interruption of the protective (grounding) conductor or disconnection of the protective earth ground will cause a potential shock hazard that could result in personal injury. Operational Temperature and Humidity The MT1020B ATS Power Distribution Hub is designed to operate within the specified performance limits over a temperature range extending from 0 to 50 C (-32 to 122 F) and operate at a maximum (non-condensing) relative humidity of 90% (measured at the fan intake). The fan located on the rear panel assembly cools the instrument by drawing air through the bottom of the instrument case, and exhausting air through the fan opening on the rear panel. Operating the instrument outside the temperature range for extended periods will result in degradation of electrical performance and eventual malfunction. NOTE: Because the MT1020B is fan cooled, it must be installed in a location that allows sufficient (nonrestricted) space below the instrument case for adequate circulation of air. Connecting the Devices The MT1020B Power Distribution Hub is designed to interface with all Maury USB controlled automated mechanical tuners. The cable assembly required to interface with each tuner is provided with the instrument when shipped from the factory. MT1020-340 (Rev B) 12/11 3
Operation WARNING: Always set the MT1020B power switch to the OFF position before installing or removing the combination USB/Power cable assembly to prevent possible damage to the instrument. Set the power switch to the OFF position. Inspect each connector on the tuner, controller and cable assembly to ensure that all connections are clean and undamaged. Align the cable connectors with the tuner and controller connectors and attach. Verify that all connectors are fully engaged before continuing. Install a USB cable assembly between the host computer and the MT1020B Power Distribution Hub. Set the MT1020B power switch to the ON position. To be fully functional, the Power Distribution Hub requires at least one attached USB instrument.. The 4 port USB hub is a standard USB 2.0 hub assembly and will be detected by the computer s Windows operating system. Operation of the USB tuners will be controlled using Maury ATS software version 4.00 or later. No software is required for operation of the MT1020B Power Distribution Hub itself. Appendix Shipping Package If it becomes necessary to return the MT1020B ATS Power Distribution Hub to the factory for warranty, repair or maintenance, it is important to protect the unit during transit. To insure this, use of the original packaging materials is suggested. If you do not have the original packaging materials, contact your Maury representative or the factory and a packaging kit will be provided. The instructions provided below will properly prepare the unit for return to the factory. Package the MT1020B ATS Power Distribution Hub using the original carton and foam pads supplied with the unit as shown in Figure A1. Seal carton seams using minimum 2 inch (5 cm) wide adhesive tape. After the unit is packaged into the primary carton and sealed, then package this carton inside a larger carton, properly dunnaged, to prevent shipping damage. Figure A 1.
