What s in This Version New Features The following features are new in HP-UX DCE 2.0: The default permissions of the following files have changed from 0666 to 0644: /var/opt/dce/svc/error.log /var/opt/dce/svc/warning.log /var/opt/dce/svc/fatal.log In earlier versions of DCE Client, these files had the 0666 permissions by default. In DCE Client 2.0, the default permission of these files is 0644, so that only DCE processes running under the required privilege can log messages to these files. To change the permissions of these files back to 0666, enter the following command: /opt/dce/sbin/dced -j The following new filesets are available on HP-UX 11i v3 operating systems running on PA-RISC: DCE-Core Tools: DCE-CoreTools.DCE-TLS-NOTES DCE-CoreTools.DCE-BPRG DCE-CoreTools.DCEP-ENG-A-MAN The following new filesets are available on HP-UX 11i v3 operating systems running on Itanium: DCE-Core: DCE-Core.DCE-IA64-SHLIB DCE-Core Tools: DCE-CoreTools.DCE-TLS-NOTES DCE-CoreTools.DCE-BPRG DCE-CoreTools.DCEP-ENG-A-MAN Chapter 1 5

Products and Filesets Removed From HP-UX DCE 2.0 The following products and filesets are not available with HP-UX DCE 2.0 on HP-UX 11i v3: CDS Services: DCE-CDS Server Security Server: DCE-SEC-Server DCE Administration Tools: DCE-CoreAdmin DCE-C-Tools The THD-ENG-A-MAN fileset Integrated Login Given below are list of the integrated login features supported on HP-UX 11i v3. Features The environment variable, ILOGIND_CACHE_LIMIT, is used to control the cache size for passwd/group information. The cache size depicts the number of entries in the cache. If this is not specified by the user the default number of 256 is used. The NSSDCE_CACHE_TSTALE environment variable specifies the life of the pwd\grp cache entries. The default lifetime for each entry is 60 seconds. Support of large number of users belonging to one group. The Ilogin product, previously, did support a large number of users belonging to the same group. This often ended up in unexpected results. This limitation has been rectified and a fix included for the same. If the total size of members in any group exceeds the limit specified by LINE_MAX then, the getgrxbyy(), returns members up to the size specified by LINE_MAX. Members beyond that limit are discarded. 6 Chapter 1
What s in This Version In the above case, getgrent() will return all the members through successive calls, wherein, each call will return the maximum limit specified by LINE_MAX. Product Changes and Enhancements Following are the product changes and enhancements in Integrated Login running on HP-UX 11i v3: Following new filesets are introduced in Integrated Login: ILOGIN-IA-DCE (on an Itanium machine) ILOGIN-PA-DCE (on a PA-RISC machine) New /usr/lib/security/pa20_64/libpam_dce.so.1 library introduced NOTE Integrated login is not available on HP-UX 11i v1. Known Problems and Workarounds Known Problems and Workarounds This section lists the known problems and limitations for HP-UX DCE and Integrated Login. Limitations and Known Problems of HP-UX DCE 2.0 There are no known problems for HP-UX DCE 2.0 on HP-UX 11i v3. Limitations and Known Problems of Integrated Login Following are the known problems and limitations of Integrated Login: When the groups <user> command is executed, the output will be delayed if any of the groups have users whose number exceeds the limit returned by sysconf(_sc_getgr_r_size_max) limit. The passwd command requires authentication for overridden principals (even for root). To avoid performance issues, it is recommended that the number of members in a group should not exceed 50 in the /etc/opt/dce/group_override file. NOTE Members exceeding the count 50 will be discarded. Users who are specified in the /etc/pam_user.conf are not processed for override functionality. 8 Chapter 1
