CAPACITY OF MT26 EXCHANGES The capacity of MT26 exchange may be 2 externals and 6 internal lines. The exchange consists of one main board. TYPE OF TERMINALS CONNECTED TO EXCHANGE The terminals of the MT26 exchanges may be DP or DTMF type of any stan dard telephone or fax machine, modem, data terminal, telesecretary, cordless telephone and announcement machine. It is also possible to connect MULTITEK SAT300 special telephone set to the exchange. MT26 exchanges. PROGRAMMING THE SYSTEM PARAMETERS The system parameter and subscriber class of services may be changed locally only by the system operator/terminal number 0. Customer data entrance is also possible remotely through an external line by someone who knows the password. POWER SUPPLY OF THE EXCHANGE Exchange work with 50 Hz and nominal main power of 220V AC. If the mains power is out of limits of 190-250V AC a regulator must be used. MT26 exchange needs about 10W energy for the average traffic. MAINTENANCE FREE BATTERY CONNECTION It is possible to connect a pair of 12V / 7 Ahour maintenance free battery to the exchange where the mains power failure often occurs. Depending on traffic and capacity of the exchange the battery lasts about 4-7 hours. IMPORTANT NOTE: The battery connection requires a battery module which installed to the inside of the cabinet over the main board. Connection of battery module to the exchanges, - Turn off power. - Place the battery module inside of the cabinet by two screws, and connect the plug on the battery module to the main board. - Connect batteries and give power. NOTE1 : Do not connect bigger than 7A / HOUR battery to exchange. NOTE2 : Be careful + - polarities of the battery. Wrong connection may destroy the exchange. CALL LOGGING - CONNECTION OF PRINTER TO EXCHANGE Any printer with RS232C interface or MULTÝTEK MPR648 mini printer may be connected to the exchange for call logging. Serial printer will be adjusted to ; XON / XOFF 600 Baud 8 Data Bit No parity Exchange and printer is connected by a pair of cable; Exchange side P of PR is connected to the printer connector pin 7 Exchange side R of PR is connected to the printer connector pin 3 Multitek MPR648 mini printer is connected directly to the exchange by a pair of wire. No adjustment is needed ( Be careful about polarity ). The printer prints out external calls indicating calling, transferred internal lines, called number, date, start time and duration of the call, pulse count and cost. DATE STAR TIME DURATION 01/01 1830 01:33 COUNTER COST 0005 8000 Each external line in the exchange has an optional charge detector of 12/16 KHZ. If the charge pulses are received and if the unit fee of the charge pulse is entered the printer prints out the puls - count and cost of the call. If the charging signal is not received the printer prints out all calls longer than 20 sec. The exchange stores the charging data of last 60 calls. If it is required it is possible to print stored data to the printer by a program. The printer program has various programs for printing the call data ( Look the printer programs ). NOTE: The exchange has an add-on board of 12/26 KHz detectors. PROTECTING SYSTEM MEMORY In case of power failure to prevent losing the customer date entered to the sys tem a NiCd is used. Batteries lasts a few weeks un der normal conditions. TRANSFER OF EXTERNAL LINES TO INTERNAL TERMINALS IN CASE OF POWER FAILURE In case of power failure the external lines are directly connected to the first two terminals of number 0 and 1. MUSIC ON HOLD When the external lines are on - hold the exchange gives music to the waiting side. If is possible to connect radio / type music to the exchange by a pair of wire on the system MDF named TYP. If the music is not needed at all, or the external music connec tion is required the internal built - in music is made off by programming ( program 7447 962 / 963 ). It is also possible to give bip tones instead of music for waiting externals ( see programming ). SPECIAL RELAY The exchange has a special relay in order to activate some special functions. Two contact points of the relay is carried to system MDF. This feature, for example, may be used to activate door opener. Dialing 71 closes the contacts of the special relay about 1 seconds. ( Holding time is programmable as 1 or 2 sec by program code 957 / 858 ). FAX DETECTOR MT26 exchange may detects the automatic fax machine calls and makes auto matic connection to the fax machine. This feature requires the followings; a) The fax machine must be connected to internal number 2. b) The defined external fax line must be connected to the 2.nd external line. c) Incoming fax calls must have 1100 Hz CNG (identification) tone. d) The feature must be activated by the program ( code 7447951, see the pro gramming manual ). If the above conditions are fulfilled the exchange answers the incoming calls coming from the 2.nd external line, checks the 1100 Hz CNG tone. If tone exists the connection is established to the internal number 2. the mu sic is given to the calling side and the call is routed to the operator as ordinary call. CONNECTING PIEZO RINGER A DC type piezo ringer may be connectable to the PIEZO terminals. When there is an incoming call from the externals the piezo starts rings. DP OR DTMF EXTERNAL LINES If the external line of the exchange is DP the exchange will convert internally di aled DTMF digits into DP digits. Therefore, it is possible to connect DP or DTMF external lines to the exchange. INTERNAL NUMBERING OF THE EXCHANGE The internal terminal numbers of the exchange starts from number 0 and lies up to number 5. GENERAL NIGHT SERVICE The exchange may be put into the night service by entering program 7447 961. When the exchange is in night service; - All subscriber are restricted to make out going call ( other than the subscribers al lowed by the program ). - Incoming calls may ring up to four subscribers at the same time ( subscribers defined by the program 97. Default number 0 ). Subscribers who does not have night service restriction will have the same authorization as day. If it is fully restricted for day they will have the city call authorization for night. FLASH ) Hook - flash is an operation by pressing the hook - switch of the telephone for about 1 / 2 sec for making transfer of the call or consultation hold. Some type of telephones have FLASH button for the same purposes. The hook - flash time of the each subscribers is programmable as 80 ms or 600 ms by program codes 83aa4/5. Note that as a default parameter the hook -flash time of the subscribers is set to 80 ms considering * buttons of DTMF tele phones used for transfer operation. WARNING : If you connect DP telephones or telephones with flash button you must set flash time 600 ms. Otherwise all conversations will be cut off during transfer. FUNCTIONS OF * AND # BUTTONS ON TELEPHONES * and # buttons of DTMF telephones may be used for; * button: A) Pressing * makes on hold the conversation as hook - flash. ( It may be used as hook - flash function ). B) Pressing * seizes the 1.th external line after the dial tone. # button: A) Pressing # functions as hook - on and hook - off the external telephone ( to receive the dial tone without hook - on the phone ). B) Pressing # after the dial tone seizes 2.th external line. C) # is also used to send hook - flash to the external line where an upper exchange terminal is needed to be on hold and transfer. successful automatic call and terminating ). GROUNDING THE EXCHANGES MT26 exchanges do not need grounding for it is operation. However, a proper grounding is a MUST for the protection of the exchange against high voltages and lightning. Exchange mains cable must be connected to the grounded plug or the exchange cabinet must be connected to the ground by a thick wire. ( Grounding wire may be soldered to the terminal located under the screw of the mains transformer ). CABLING OF MT26 EXCHANGES Exchanges have the following terminal connections; MAIN BOARD: 0 1 2 3 4 5 T1 T2 PIEZO OZR PR TYP AT T1 - T2 External lines 0-5 Subscriber telephone connection PIEZO Piezo ringer connection terminal. OZR Special relay ( door opener ) connection terminal. TYP Radio / teyp connection terminal ( ground, live ). PR Printer connection ( two wire - ground, live ). AT First operator console set plug. INSTALLING THE CABINET The exchange cabinets must be installed about 1-2 meters above the floor, where the cabinet door is easily opened. The place where the exchange is installed must be clean, without dust, not over radiator and preferably not seeing the sunlight directly. Distance of installation points : 175 mm EXCHANGE SUBSCRIBER FEATURES SUBSCRIBER TO SUBSCRIBER CALL - Receiver the dial tone. - Dial the internal line number. - Listen the ring - back tone. - After receiving the busy tone if you dial 1, the called side receives an injection tone. When the called subscriber terminates his call, his telephone ring and you may talk. - After receiving the busy tone if you dial 48 and hang up your phone the exchange puts this subscriber in a waiting queue. SUBSCRIBER TO EXTERNAL LINE CALL ( BY DIALING EXTERNAL GROUP CODE ) - Receive the dial tone. - Dial 9 or the other external line group codes and hear PTT dial tone ( note that by programming you may charge the access code 0 to 9, then the first number becomes 9 rather than 0 ). - If you receive busy tone you dial 48 to be in a waiting queue. - Dial the external number. - Make your conversation and hook - on. Groups codes are as follows; Group 1 ( all external 1,2 ) Dial 9 Group 2 ( only external 1 ) Dial 81 Group 3 ( only external 2 ) Dial 82 LAST NUMBER RADIAL ( FOR EXTERNALS ) If the external number you dialed is busy or you want to call it again; - Receive the dial tone. - Dial 87. - Listen the external ring - back tone. CANCELING CALL FORWARD ( CANCELING THE FOLLOW ME ) - Receive the dial tone. - Dial only 740. - Hear ring back ( acceptance ) tone, hook on. CONFERENCE A) CONFERENCE WITH AN INTERNAL LINE : When you are talking to an external line or to an internal subscriber, if you need to make a conference with another internal subscriber; - Dial * ( or hook-flash ) to receive the dial tone on hold. - Dial 73 and then the internal subscriber number ( if he is busy you may return back by dialing * or hook - flash ) - Talk the subscriber. - Dial * ( or hook-flash ) and start for conference. When the internal subscriber hook - on he becomes out of conference. B) CONFERENCE WITH TWO EXTERNAL LINES When you are talking to an external line if you need to include one more external line to the conference party.; - Dial * 73 ( or hook - flash ) to receive the dial tone on hold. - Dial 73 and seize the external line ( by dialing 0 or other access codes ). - Dial the external line number, make a conversation. - Dial * ( or hook - flash ) and start to conference. If the second external is busy or not reachable, hook - on your phone. The call waiting on you will be back. ANSWERING - INCOMING EXTERNAL CALLS An external incoming call rings the piezo ringer of he exchange ( if available ) and rings the operator telephone. If you want to answer this call from your telephone set ; - Hook - off telephone. - Dial 6. - The call will be connected to you. When you are making an external line conversation, if another call comes to your phone you hear bip sounds on your head phone. To answer it; - Park your first call by dialing * ( or hook flash ) and 89. Then dial 6. The second call will be connected to you. ( see the section : Answering the incoming call when you are busy ). CONSULTATION HOLD When you are talking to an internal or external subscriber if you need to talk to another internal subscriber; - Dial * ( or make hook - flash ) and receive dial on hold tone. - Dial the internal number and talk. - * ( or hook - flash ) to return back your conversation. - Dial * ( or make hook - flash ) and listen dial on hold tone. - Dial the internal subscriber number. - Talk to the subscriber and hook on. Or hook on before he answer for external calls. Some notes on transfer calls; - If the called number does not answer or if you want return back to the pervious call you press * ( or hook - flash ). - If the called number is busy dial 2 and hook - on phone. The call is parked on the busy subscriber, hearing bip tone on his ear. When the phone become free it is ringed. - If the transferred external call is not answered in 1 minute the call is routed to the operator. - If you make any mistake during the transfer operation or you hook - on, the call returns back to you. PARKING EXTERNAL LINES FREE ON HOLD When you need to free your phone during a conversation; - Dial * or ( hook - flash ) and hear dial tone on hold. - Dial 89. - Listen the dial tone. The external line becomes parked for 1 minutes. If it is not seized back in one minute, it returns back to you automatically. SEIZING BACK PARKED EXTERNAL LINES If you need to seize back a parked external line; - Hook - off and receive the dial tone. - Dial 80. - You seize the first parked external line. If you need to seize back a specific parked external line dial 8 and external line number ( e.g. 81 for the first external ). If the parked external line is not reseized in one minute, it returns back to the sub scriber. ANSWERING A SECOND CALL DURING A CONVERSATION When you are making an external conversation if a second call comes to you hear bip tones. DON T DISTURB If you do not want to be disturbed by your ringing telephone; - Receive the dial tone. - Dial 746, hear the acceptance tone and hook - on. When some one calls you your telephone rings once and stops. You may answer the phone any time as long as the calling party keeps ringing. A special relay in the exchange operates for 1 second ( or 2 sec by programming ). ( Be sure to connect your door opener to OZR outputs of the exchange.note that the door opener is only a make relay contact,does not give any voltage. Dont pass 220vac through those contacts.you may destroy the exchange). CONNECTING TWO EXTERNAL LINES TOGETHER If it is needed to connect two external lines together for a conversation; - Establish a call with one external. - Make hook - flash ( or * ) and receive the dial on hold tone. - Dial 73. - Seize another external and make a conversation. If the number you called is busy or not reachable hook - on. The call waiting returns back to you. - Make hook - flash ( or * ). Two external lines and you become in conversation. - Make hook - flash ( or * ) one more time. You become out of conversation and two externals are connected. Two connected externals may talk for 3 minutes. Before the expire of 3 minutes the sides hear a waning bip tone. HOT LINE SUBSCRIBER It is possible to program the subscriber telephone such that when he hooks - off a connection is established to the operator or to some external number automatically. A) Hot line to the operator telephone When the subscriber hooks - off, the operator telephone rings automatically and two sides talks. This feature may be used for hotel / motel subscribers where no internal / external call is not allowed ( see the programming 80aa0 code). B) Hot line to an external line When the subscriber hooks - off if he does not dial any number in 4 seconds he automatically seizes an external line, dials the number and talks ( see programming code 80aa7 ). C) Hot line to an external number When the subscriber hooks - off if he does not dial any number in 4 seconds the exchange stars dialing automatically the external number defined in the memory 99. For this feature the subscriber must be defined as hot line ( see the programming code 80aa7 ) and the external number must be entered into the memory 99. It is possible to send some constant messages to the operator or other terminals that have SAT300 type telephone set. OPERATOR ACTIVATED SERVICES ( It may be activated only by operator or by remote programming). ENTERING NUMBER TO COMMON MEMORY - Hook - off and receive the dial tone. - Dial 78 and the common memory number 10-99. - Dial external group code ( 1-3 ). NIGHT SERVICE OF THE EXCHANGE If it is required to restrict all or many internal numbers to make outside calls; - Receive the dial tone. - Dial 7447 961. Exchange becomes in night service restricting all out going calls. - If there is some internal number which is permitted to make outgoing call during the night service, define those with program ( 7447 ) and the code 83aa0. - Define the internal subscribers that the incoming calls will be ringed. ( By program 7447 and code 97aabb..* ). Maximum 4 subscribers may be defined to be ringed at the same time when there is an incoming call. When the exchange is in night service; - Only subscribers allowed may make external outgoing calls. Allowed subscribers will have the same class of service as day. If they are restricted for day they are allowed to make only city calls in the night service. - Incoming calls ring the subscribers defined by the program. PBX FEATURE When your telephone is busy, if you want to reroute a call coming to you another subscriber you have to use PBX feature of the exchange. PBX feature is activated by the programming code 86xxxx. Maximum 5 subscribers may be in a PBX group and it is possible to make 4 different PBX groups. It is possible to make PBX group for both internal or external calls ( code 862xyy..* ) ( see the programming manual ). KEY SYSTEM FEATURE A few subscribers in the exchange may be put a group so that they may act like a small exchange in the exchange. Each subscriber in the group may call each other directly but the calls coming out side of the group is routed to the assigned secretary telephone. - Make a group of subscribers that will be in the key system by programming and code 861xyz...* ( see programming manual code 86 ) - All subscribers except the secretary telephone make follow - me to the secretary telephone ( by dialing 740 and secretary number ). When you make a key system group; - All subscriber in the group may call the others directly. - All coming calls to the subscribers in the group will be routed to the secretary number. - Cancel key system group feature by not entering the subscriber numbers ( e.g. to cancel the first key system group enter 74478611* ). ASSIGNMENT OF DIRECT LINE It is possible to assign one or two externals to be used by only one or more subscribers. It is also possible to direct incoming calls of those externals to be answered by those subscribers. Using those features in the exchange it is possible to make an external line connected to the exchange as the subscribers private line. - By program code 85 define the external group which the subscriber uses. - By program code 92 redirect the incoming calls coming from the external to his phone. INTERNAL LINES WITHOUT DIAL TONE Some of the internal lines ( such as operator using head-set ) do not need the dial tone. Use program 82 aa 2/3 to remove the dial tone ( or to give back ). This subscriber, when it is called, automatically answers the call if it is in free position. RESTRICTION ON EXTERNAL CONVERSATION DURATION It is possible to restrict the duration of the external conversation time to some subscribers. Use program code 99 to restrict the duration of the external call to 2,3,5 minutes or limitless.. It is possible to program the external lines to be used for only the incoming calls but not for outgoing calls. Use program code 846 to make out of service the externals for this feature. ( If the external is out of service it is not possible to make an outgoing call though it, but the incoming calls may be answered ). EXTERNAL FOLLOW ME If some calls coming from the certain external lines are required to be routed to some other external numbers, the external follow - me feature is used. This feature may be useful for small businesses when it is closed but an important call is expected. The external follow me needs minimum two external lines. You may program each external line one by one for the external follow - me feature. But the routed external number must be the same for all externals. To activate the feature use program code 90, the external line number that the call is excepted coming ( 1-2 ), the outgoing external line group ( if there is no defined use 1 ), external number that the call will be routed and * ( or hook - flash ) to terminate the program ( see the programming section ). If the call expected may come from any external the same program must be entered to all external lines. After you enter the program the call coming to your exchange ( or line ) will be routed to the external number you entered. The sides may talk each other for maximum 5 minutes. 1/2 minutes before the expiration of the 5 minutes the exchange gives warning tone. The connection is dismissed when any party hooks on. previous data. - If you enter the program code 912 the feature is reactivated with the previous data. - To change the directing number you have to re- program the exchange by entering program code 90. ENTERING THE CLASS OF SERVICES OF THE SUBSCRIBER The operator by entering the program code 80 may program following class of services for the subscribers. - Only callable and may call only the operator / or some internal numbers ( Operator hot line ). - May call only internal numbers. - May call only city numbers. - May call only are code numbers. - May call only international numbers. - May call only numbers defined in common memory. - May call only numbers defined in common memory and city numbers. - May call only city numbers and the numbers starting with 021. - External hot line subscriber. ( If the subscriber does not dial any number in 4 second it is connected to the external line automatically or it is connected to the external number defined in memory 99 ). - May call only the numbers defined in memory 90-99. Note that the high level intrusion subscribers may enter the conversation of the lower level intrusion subscribers. Same level subscribers may not intrude their calls. MAKING EXTERNALS LINES OUT OF SERVICE If the exchange have unused external numbers it is necessary to make those externals out of service. Note that initially all externals are open to the service. The externals may be put out of service by entering program code 846. RESTRICTING SUBSCRIBERS TO SEIZE THE EXTERNAL GROUPS External groups may be allowed to be used by the subscriber by the program code 85. ROUTING EXTERNAL CALLS TO SUBSCRIBER The exchange allows the calls coming from an external line to be routed to any internal line. It is possible to route each external coming call one by one to the different subscribers. This program code 92 is used for routing the external calls to the subscribers. Initially all calls are directed to the operator number 10. MAKING EXTERNAL LINES DP / DTMF By programming code 93 the operator may the external lines DTMF/DP. Note if you make the external DTMF both DTMF and DP telephones work. ENTERING UNIT CHARGE FEE It is important to enter the unit charge fee in places where the call charge is calculated and 12/16 KHZ charging pulses come. If 12 KHZ / 16 KHZ charging signal does not come the exchange can not print the call pulse count and the cost. Unit change fee is entered by the program code 98 as maximum 6 digits. e.g. if the call costs 10 cents per charge pulse enter 7447 98 000010. PROGRAMMING HOOK - FLASH TIME It is possible to program the hook - flash duration of the each terminal one by one by program code 83. The hook - flash time may be 80 ms 600 ms. WARNING : 80 ms hook - flash time is the default value of the exchange. If the exchange has the telephone sets DP or with flash button, you have to make 600 ms hook - flash time for those telephones. CLEARING THE PASSWORD It very offer happens that the subscribers entering the pass word forget their pass - words. You may clear all pass words by the program code 955. PRINTING CALL CHARGE INFORMATION If the exchange has a printer it is possible to print a various types of data related with the externals calls. Those are; Program code 891 Feeds the paper. Program code 892 Prints the last 10 calls ( for STAR2 40 ) Program code 893 Prints the total charge count of the externals. Program code 894 Prints all external calls longer than 20 sec. Program code 895 Prints only external calls where 12/16 KHZ signal comes. Program code 896 Prints only international calls. Program code 897 Prints only area + international calls. Program code 898 Prints messages in condensed mode. Program code 899 Prints messages leaving some free space. Program code 81aa3 Subscriber whose calls is printed. Program code 82aa4 Subscribers whose calls is not printed. SENDING HOOK - FLASH TO AN UPPER EXCHANGE If the BCS648 exchange externals are connected to some internals of another PBX it is very often necessary to send hook - flash to the other exchange to make hold the call by the other exchange side. This feature is possible by entering program code 956. When the program is entered # button of the DTMF telephones is used for sending 200m sec flash to the externals. Use program 962/963 for making on/off the internal music. GIVING BIP TONE ON HOLD Where no music is required it is possible to give bip tone to the calls on hold. Use program code 964/965 for giving bip tone the calls on hold. RESET THE EXCHANGE NOT DESTROYING THE CUSTOMER DATA PREVIOUSLY ENTERED Programming code 952 resets the exchange not destroying previously entered data. RESET THE EXCHANGE BY CLEARING BY ALL DATA ENTERED ( AS OUT OF FACTORY ) Programming code 959 resets the exchange clearing all data entered, making the exchange as out of factory. Note that only speed dialing numbers entered are not destroyed. ( e.g. number 15 may not call the external numbers staring with code 271 ). It is possible to enter the exchange 20 restriction code each having maximum 4 digits. Those restriction codes are defined in the exchange as; 01 xxxx 1.th code 02 yyyy 2.th code - - ---- - - ---- - - ---- 20 zzzz 20. th code Each 5 codes in order makes a restriction code group. If the digits are not dialed in 6 seconds the exchange music is connected to the subscriber. - When he listens the music, to make a call, the subscriber hook - on and hooks off and dial the digits. - When there is a call while he listens the music, the music becomes off and ringing tone is heard. He answer the call by hook - off and hook - on the phone. - This feature is useful for hotel / motels where the extra cabling is required for music announcement. The feature is entered by the programming code 81 aa 5/6. CHANGING THE EXTERNAL ACCESS CODE ( 9 TO 0 ) Some times the customer requires to change the external selection code 9 ( default ) to 0. Use program code 968/969 for changing the access code 9 to 0. Note that if the access code is changed to 0 the number 0 subscriber becomes 9.
