School Messenger Contact Manager Account Instructions for Parents/Staff Creating a Contact Manager Account allows you to update your email and phone information for our mass notifications (newsletters, school closings, etc.) and allows you to decide how you would like to be contacted (Home email? Work email? Text messages? Phone calls?) You are not required to create a Contact Manager Account your child is already in our system with the primary email address and phone number you provided at enrollment. But it is helpful to have a CMA because contact information and more often, the WAY you would like to be contacted can change often. IMPORTANT: You must still update your emergency card at your child s school if your information changes. School Messenger does not change emergency card information. Okay, let s get started! You must have access to the primary phone number you provided at enrollment when creating this account (the system will call you with a code to verify that you are the parent/guardian of the students you will be connected to.) Sometimes that means you can only do this from home, if you provided your home number as the main contact. Now, use your Web browser to go to: https://contactme.schoolmessenger.com/?u=troy The link will take you to the SchoolMessenger Contact Manager. Click on the Sign Up Now link at the bottom of the page (SEE SCREEN SHOTS BELOW):
You will be taken to the Sign Up page where you will need to enter a valid e- mail address, a password (which you create), your name, and zip code. You ll use your e- mail address and a password to sign in later. Check Email me when I have a new phone message if you would like to receive an e- mail message each time there is a new message in your mailbox. Select Agree to the Terms of Service. Click Create Account when you are done.
Go to your e- mail account and look for the message from SchoolMessenger. You must do this immediately. Click on the link in the e- mail message. This will take you to the Activate School Account page in SchoolMessenger. Type in the password you created earlier and click the Submit button.
You will see this Welcome screen. Click on Click here to begin. Click I do not have an Activation Code and want to activate by phone and click Next. Enter your child s Student ID, which can be found on any Report Card (click the print function in HAC if you have not printed a report card) or through the main office in your child s school.
Simply follow the instructions on the page to call in and activate your account. You will need to be able to call into the system from one of the phone numbers associated with your child s student record. This can be either a home or mobile phone number that was provided to your child s school during registration. Click the Done button when finished. There are two tabs at the top of the screen. Select the Contacts tab.
You can now add your children to your students to your account by clicking the Add a Contact button and following the prompts. When you have finished adding your child(ren) to your account, click the Edit button on the right side of the box. You will be taken to the Edit Contact Details page (see below) where you can simply check which types of messages you would like to receive and at which phone number or e- mail address. Make sure you click Save when you are done making changes.
You can check SchoolMessenger throughout the school year to review any messages that were sent to your contact numbers and e- mail addresses by logging on to the SchoolMessenger (remember your password!), and selecting the Messages tab at the top of the window. If your contact information changes, this must be submitted to your student s emergency card in the main office of his/her school as well.
