TEXET SIM USB (Instruction Manual)

Thank you for purchasing this SIM card reader. Please read this manual carefully to ensure you understand the operation and keep it for future reference. The information provided in this manual is subject to change without notice. IMPORTANT USIM cards have many different standard in the market. Some USIM cards may not be support by this product. Some USIM cards have more than 2 fields, but our product may only support the first 2 fields. NOTICE We strongly recommend that separate permanent written records be kept of all-important data in reader and in SIM card. Data may be lost or altered in virtually any electronic memory product under certain circumstances. Therefore, we assume no responsibility for data lost or otherwise rendered unusable whether as a result of improper use, repairs, defects, battery replacement, use after the specific battery life has expired, or any other cause. CAUTION Do not carry the unit in the back pocket of your trousers. Do not drop the unit or apply excess force to it. Avoid areas subject to excessive moisture, dirt, dust or extreme temperature. Clean only with soft, damp cloth. Always protect the display with the cap. Using the Unit for the First Time 1. Remove the battery insulation tape if one exists. 2. Display will show CLEAR DATA?, press [OK]. You can start using the reader. 3. If the unit does not display CLEAR DATA?, press into the Reset hold in the back of the unit.

Power On/Auto-off of the Unit When the unit is off, press and hold [MODE](ON) button for 2 seconds to turn on the unit, display will show POWER ON?. Press [OK] to confirm. If no [OK] key pressed in 15 seconds, it will turn off again. The unit has auto-off function, it will turn off itself after a period of time without any operation. And the auto-off time can be set in setup mode. (Describe below) EL Backlight Press and hold [ESC]( ) to turn on the backlight. The backlight will be on as last as you have operation. The backlight will turn off automatically in 5 seconds after your last operation. Key Description Keys Functions MODE (ON) Change modes / Enter function menu / Power on the unit OK Confirm the execution / Enter detail mode when viewing a contact or message. ESC ( ) Return to previous display / Turn on backlight,,, Move the display to direction as indicated

How to change modes Press [MODE] key to change modes. How to insert and remove SIM Card 1. Insert your SIM card into the SIM card slot correctly, as the mark on the back of the unit indicated. You should push the card deep into the slot until cannot push further. 2. After using the SIM card, slide it out of the slot. Important! When the reader is loading data from SIM card or writing data into SIM card, do NOT move the SIM card. Otherwise, it may damage the SIM card. How to load out contacts from SIM card 1. Be sure the SIM card already inside the slot. 2. Press [MODE] key to SIM Phone mode, display shows LOAD PHONE?. 3. Press [OK] to start loading contacts from the SIM card.

Important Note: If the SIM card has a PIN, the unit will ask for the PIN to unlock. SIM card will usually allow 3 trials (varies from different Service Provider) before permanently locked. If the SIM card is permanently locked, it MUST be returned to the Service Provider for unlock. 4. When loading process finishes, the first contact will be shown. 5. Press to view next record. Note: If SIM ERROR occurs, it means the unit fails to detect the SIM card. Please check the SIM card correctly inserted inside the slot. How to load out SMS from SIM card 1. Be sure the SIM card already inside the slot. 2. Press [MODE] key to SIM SMS mode, display shows LOAD SMS?. 3. Press [OK] to starting loading messages from the SIM card. When loading process finishes, the first message will be shown. 4. Press to view next message. How to send a single contact/message from SIM card to reader 1. Load out the contacts/messages from SIM card. 2. Press or to select the record to be sent. 3. Press and hold [MODE] key until function menu appears. 4. Press to select SEND. 5. Press [OK]. 6. For contact only, press or to select S1, S2 or S3 that the contact will be sent to SIM1, SIM2 or SIM3 directory respectively. 7. Press [OK] to start sending. 8. When sending process finishes, it will show OK! Note: Sending a single contact or message, the record will be added into the selected directory.

How to send all contacts/messages from SIM card to reader 1. Load out the contacts/messages from SIM card. 2. Press and hold [MODE] until function menu appears. 3. Select SEND ALL. 4. Press [OK]. 5. For contacts only, press or to select S1, S2 or S3 that all contacts will be sent to SIM1, SIM2 or SIM3 directory respectively. 6. Press [OK] to start sending. 7. When sending process finishes, it will show OK!. Note: Sending all contacts, the contacts will overwrite the selected SIM directory. Sending all messages, the messages will add into the SMS directory. How to send a single contact from SIM1, SIM2 or SIM3 to SIM card 1. Press [MODE] to enter SIM1, SIM2 or SIM3 mode. 2. Press or to select the record you desire to send. 3. Press and hold [MODE] to enter function menu. 4. Press to select SEND. 5. Press [OK] to start sending. How to send all contacts from SIM1, SIM2 or SIM3 to SIM card 1. Press [MODE] to enter SIM1, SIM2 or SIM3 directory. 2. Press and hold [MODE] to enter function menu. 3. Select SEND ALL. 4. Press [OK] to start sending. How to view contacts 1. The contacts stored in SIM1, SIM2 and SIM3 modes are sorted in alphabetic order. While the contacts loaded out in SIM Phone mode are not sorted, they will be displayed in the order as they saved in the SIM card.

2. Press to move to next contact, press to move to previous contact. 3. In SIM1, SIM2 and SIM3 modes only, press and hold or to auto advance of the records. 4. Press to scroll to next screen pages when the information has more than 11 characters. 5. Press [OK] to view details of each contact if applicable. Note: i. For some USIM cards, a contact has more fields than a name field and a telephone field. Then press [OK] to enter the detail mode to view its additional information. ii. There are many different formats USIM cards in the market, so even some cards have more than 2 fields, our product may only support the first 2 fields. 6. In detail mode, press or to go to different fields. 7. Press [ESC] to exit detail mode. (Detail mode only for some USIM cards) How to view SMS 1. Press or to select the message. 2. In SMS mode only, press and hold or to auto advance of the records. 3. Press [OK] to read the details of the message. 4. For long message, press to scroll to next screen pages. 5. Press [ESC] to exit detail mode.

How to delete a single contact/message in current directory or in SIM card 1. Select the record to be deleted. 2. Press and hold [MODE] until function menu appears. 3. Press and select DELETE in the menu. 4. Press [OK], display shows DELETE OK? to ask your confirmation of deletion of the record. 5. Press [OK] to proceed the deletion. If you don t want to delete, press [ESC] to exit. How to delete all contacts/messages in current directory or in SIM card Delete All function will delete all data stored in current directory. Important! In SIM Phone and SIM SMS modes, Delete All process will delete all contacts and message in SIM card respectively. Think carefully before to do it, after the deletion, data will be permanently cleared. 1. Press and hold [MODE] until function menu appears. 2. Press to select DELETE ALL in the menu. 3. Press [OK], display shows DELETE OK? to ask your confirmation of deletion of all records. 4. Press [OK] to proceed the deletion. If you don t want to proceed, press [ESC] to exit. Setup mode Press [MODE] to enter setup mode, it shows the setup menu, press or to select the item, press [OK] to confirm. Language 1. Press or to select desired language among English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and Dutch. 2. Press [OK] to confirm. Password Set new password 1. Use the direction keys to input new password. Press or to scroll the digit, press or to move the cursor. (Note that the password must be a 4-digit number, and 0000 is considered as no password.)

2. Press [OK] to save the password. Important! You must remember the password, or write it down and keep it in a safe place. If you forget the password, there is no way to use the reader. The reader must be reset to clear the password, but all data will also be lost. Change password 1. Input current password, press [OK]. 2. Input new password, press [OK]. Clear password 1. Input current password, press [OK]. 2. Press [OK]. Auto-off time 1. Press or to select desired auto-off time. 2. Press [OK]. Opening screen 1. Press or to select ON or OFF. 2. Press [OK] to confirm. Contrast 1. Press or to select the contrast level. 2. Press [OK] to confirm. Memory 1. Press or to check the free memory of SIM1, SIM2, SIM3 and SMS directory. Change Battery When the reader alerts LOW BATTERY, you should change batteries as soon as possible. This unit uses 2 cell batteries (CR2025 3V). 1. Turn the unit over. 2. Remove the battery cover with a screwdriver. 3. Take off the old batteries; install the new ones with positive (+) facing up. 4. Replace the battery cover and secure it with the screw. 5. Important! After changing new batteries, display will show CLEAR DATA? if there is data stored in memory. Press [CANCEL] to keep stored data. Otherwise, press [OK] to delete all data.

System Reset System Reset is to restore the unit. If you find any abnormal operation of the unit, you can perform system reset. At the back cover of the unit, press into the hole. It will show CLEAR DATA?, if there is data stored in memory. Press [CANCEL] to keep stored data. Otherwise, press [OK] to delete all data. PC Sync This product can link to PC via USB port, with the installation of the PC program, you can upload the telephone records to PC, edit the data in PC program, then download back to the reader. You also can upload SMS to PC for backup purpose. 1. Install the PC program. 2. Start the PC program. 3. Plug the reader into the USB port of your PC. 4. The reader is ready to communicate with PC. And all operations are controlled by the PC program. Please click Help on the PC program to open the user guide. To install and run the PC program, your PC should fulfill following requirements. IBM compatible Pentium III or higher Windows 98SE, ME, 2000 or XP MS Outlook 2000 (Optional) 128 MB RAM or higher Display resolution 800x600 pixels or higher Display 256 Color VGA or higher 30 MB free hard disk space DISPOSAL: PLEASE DISPOSE OF THE PRODUCT RESPONSIBLY AT APPROVED WASTE OR RECYCLING FACILITIES.
