Then click on Account Settings. 1. Click on the dropdown menu with your name 2. Click on Account Settings 3. After you click on Account Settings you should see something similar to the page below. Notice that you are already in edit mode since you have the option to save and close, save, and cancel.

Notice that you are already in edit mode since you have these three options 4. There are three different tabs under Account Settings: Account Settings, Discussions, and Email. Please note that you can click on Account Settings, Discussions, or Email in order to jump to those specific settings in this document. Three different settings tabs

Account Settings Tab Return to Top 1. The first tab is Account Settings. Here you can change the font settings, dialog setting, HTML editor settings, video settings, time zone, application settings, and EduDentity settings. Many of these settings you would change if you were planning on using an assistive technology (like a screen reader, screen magnifier, or voice software) while on D2L. Most of the settings do have a short description about why you might change it or what the feature will do if you change it. 2. It is recommended that you do not change the Application Settings and EduDentity Settings. You can click on the links next to them to see why. It is recommended not to change these two settings Click on their links to understand why 3. Settings on this page that you will most likely change are the font settings and time zone. The Font settings is the first one listed under account settings. You are able to change the font face and font size. The font settings are for the font you will see throughout D2L. There is a preview next to font settings that will show you what the font will look like before you save your changes. Look here to see what your font settings will look like Use this dropdown menu to change font face Use this dropdown menu to change font size

4. To get to the Time Zone settings you will have to scroll a little over half way down the page. You can change the Continent and time zone. Use this dropdown menu to change the Continent Use this dropdown menu to change the time zone 5. When you are done editing your Account Settings tab make sure to save before you switch to the Discussions or Email tabs and before you leave the account settings page. Click on Save if you are planning to switch tabs. Click on Save and Close if you are done editing and want to return to your homepage. By clicking on Save and Close you will automatically be redirected back to your homepage. Click Save and Close to save changes and return to your homepage Click Save to save changes before switching tabs 6. If for some reason you do not want to save the changes you have made to your Account Settings tab then click on Cancel and you will automatically be redirected back to your homepage.

Discussions Tab Return to Top 1. The second (or middle) tab on your account settings is Discussions. To edit your Discussions settings click on the Discussions tab. 2. There are only two settings under the discussion settings as shown below, which are display settings and reply settings. Here are the two discussion settings. 3. For the Display Setting if you check the box in front of Always show the discussions list pane it will display a discussions list pane on the View Topic and View Thread discussion pages of D2L. So for example, if you check this box and want to see what the pane looks like then select a class

from your D2L homepage, go to the discussion list by clicking on the communication dropdown menu and then discussions, and then click on a discussion. The pane will appear on the left side of the View Topic page, which is the page you will end up on. 1. Check this box 2. Select a class from your D2L homepage 3. Click on the Communications dropdown menu 4. Click on Discussions

5. Select a Discussion

Notice you are on the View Topic page This is the Discussions List pane 4. The discussions list pane can also be seen on the View Thread page. You can get to the View Thread page by clicking on any thread. A thread is a person s reply to a discussion post.

Select a thread

Notice you are on the View Thread page This is the Discussions List pane 5. The Discussions List pane will show how many unread discussion posts you have for each discussion topic and discussion list. These numbers represent the number of unread discussion posts for each discussion topic and discussion list. 6. If you do not like seeing the discussions list pane you can always go back to you discussions settings and uncheck the box in front of Always show the discussions list pane and that will take away the discussions list pane from your View Topic and View Thread pages.

Uncheck this box so you do not see the discussions list pane 7. The other discussion setting is the reply setting. If you check the box in front of Include original post in reply, when you reply to someone s discussion post the post you are replying to will be in your response. See the example below. Check this box so the post you are replying to is in your response
