Introduction This tutorial explains how to install Freescale CodeWarrior V10.6 Eclipse Special Edition (available for free) on a Windows computer. I suppose in this tutorial that you never installed CodeWarrior. If not, first uninstall your previous CodeWarrior installation using the Control Panel. 1 Download Freescale CodeWarrior Freescale CodeWarrior Special Edition is available on Freescale website: http://www.freescale.com/webapp/sps/site/overview.jsp?code=cw_specialeditions. Download "Special Edition: CodeWarrior for Microcontrollers 10.6 (Eclipse, Offline)". You will get a file called "CW_MCU_v10.6_ SE_Offline.exe". Please take care to the size of the installer (more than 1.4GB). You need an high speed Internet connection to download it. CodeWarrior Eclipse Online Edition installer is smaller but will download the required tools later during the installation. 3
2 Install Freescale CodeWarrior Execute the installer. The installer extracts some files. Please wait, it takes some few minutes to complete. 4
A wizard is displayed. Click "Next". Accept the License Agreement and click "Next". 5
License Agreement. Click "I Agree" to continue. Product Release Announcement. Click "Next". 6
The installer now asks you to choose the components to install. I have personally chosen to install all the components, which requires about 5.4GB on my hard disk drive. Additional components can be installed later in Eclipse. Make your selection and click "Next". License Agreement. Click "I Agree" to continue. 7
The default CodeWarrior installation path is "C:\Freescale\CW MCU v10.6". It is important to keep this installation path because some parts of CodeWarrior may not work if you choose another location. Particularly, I do not recommend anymore to install CodeWarrior in the "Program Files" directory. Click "Next". 8
The installer is now ready. Click "Next" to validate the installation. The setup takes several minutes to complete. 9
The installation ends. Click "Finish" to close the wizard. 10
Conclusion It is now possible to use Freescale CodeWarrior. Some shortcuts are available in the start menu. If you plan to use the USBDM, you can now proceed to its installation. A tutorial is available on my website at http://myfreescalewebpage.free.fr in you need some help. 11
