Verifying the Installation To verify the installation, select Start > All Programs > Empower > Empower Installation Log. Search for lines similar to this: ***************************************************************** Installed Waters 7890 Software 2.5.12.0210 on 1-15-2012 14:00:28 ***************************************************************** The installation of any option or service pack is documented in the checksum.txt file on your Empower computer. This file indicates the installation of any option(s) or service pack(s) and verifies the integrity of disk files by comparing their current CRC and sizes with original values recorded during installation of the base software and any installed option or service pack. This file is created when you run the Verify Files utility by selecting Start > Programs > Empower > Verify Files. To display the checksum.txt file, navigate to the \Empower\Script directory, and then double-click the checksum.txt file. Uninstalling the ICS for the Agilent 7890 module To ensure successful file verification following the removal of the ICS, you must reboot the computer before you uninstall the ICS. To remove any version of the Agilent 7890 GC ICS from your system: 1. Reboot the computer. 2. Log in to the computer using an account with local administrator privilege. 3. Open the Control Panel and double-click Add/Remove Programs. 4. At the Add/Remove Programs dialog box, click the Change or Remove Programs icon. 5. Click the version of Agilent 7890 GC ICS that is on your system, and then click the Change/Remove button. 6. Follow the prompts to remove the control software from your system. The registry and new CRC checksums are updated for the Empower installation. No Oracle or system files are affected. Resolved issues Note: Waters uses Product Change System (PCS) numbers to track the status of issues. PCS Number Description 43981 Search capability of online Help is now supported in Asian languages. 44385 The 7890 GC would run full oven method during baseline monitoring instead of maintaining initial conditions, until the user stopped monitoring. This has been corrected. The GC will now maintain its initial settings during baseline monitor. Page 5 of 10

PCS Number Description 44584 Two possible file verification issues would occur if the 7890 GC ICS was installed on the same Empower node as Agilent LC ICS version 1.06: If the 7890 GC ICS was installed after Agilent LC ICS v1.06, then the 7890 binary files in Empower\instruments\bin were not correctly verified after running Empower Verify Files. If Agilent LC ICS v1.06 was installed after the 7890 GC ICS, then the file InstrIDL.dll showed up as changed in the Empower file verification results. These issues have been corrected. 45045 Concerning dual-tower capability: There was no option to select both front and back injectors at the same time in the 7890 GC instrument method. This has been corrected. 45311 An existing instrument method would become corrupted after adding 7890 GC instrument. 45354 Support for Nitrogen Phosphorus Detector (NPD) 45399 Previous versions of the 7890 GC ICS allowed selection of the Gas Sampling (GS) Valve only if the valve was installed in position 1. Because the GS valve can now be installed in position 2, version 2.5 of the 7890 GC ICS has been modified to accommodate this enhancement 45737 Agilent 7890 GC would not regain communication after an instrument failure. 45738 The Agilent 7693A Tray chiller status information was not visible in the 7890 GC Run Sample control panel. 46456 Support for Enhanced Flame Photometric Detector: (Dual FPD) 47736 The random loss of 7890 GC column parameters in MassLynx Software no longer occurs. 48059 The CTC PAL-MS-analog signal defect with 7890 GC ICS in MassLynx software has been corrected. 48274 When previous versions of the 7890 GC ICS were configured to use the Volatiles Interface, the Split Ratio was limited to the range of 0.1 to 100.0. With version 2.5 of the 7890 GC ICS, the range is now 0.1 to 7500.0. 48277 7890 GC ICS v2.5 dual tower Ch1 Ch3, index 0 2 resolution. In order to support dual-tower operation, the existing data channels now require a hierarchy. Data Channel 1 must be enabled before Data Channel 2 may be enabled and Data Channel 2 must be enabled before Data Channel 3 may be enabled. This is a requirement for all 7890 GC instrument methods, not just those used for dualtower operation. 48452 The default sampling offset on an Agilent 7890 GC ALS was downloaded from MassLynx software even when sampling offset was not enabled; this has been corrected. 48486 7890 GC Instrument Method was not updating Split Flow/Split Ratio changes when Column Flow was changed. 48599 The allowable pressure range for the Split/Splitless inlet is now 0 to 150 psi; inlet hardware capable of 150 psi is required in order to take advantage of pressure settings above 100 psi. Page 6 of 10

Known issues Note: Waters uses Product Change System (PCS) numbers to track the status of issues. PCS Number Description 44323 The signal zero event of the analog signal does not function as expected. 47710 If you use the Inject Ahead feature on a sample with a run time greater than 10 minutes, you may receive an error that results in instrument failure. The Inject Ahead feature is not compatible with dual-tower injection capability in Empower Software and has been discontinued. 47858 If you do not enter the serial number in the Empower node properties on the DHCP tab, the instrument will scan as No instead of Yes. To prevent this, during installation, you must complete all the fields in the table in order for Yes to display when you scan the instrument. 48391 If you create a back injector instrument method and set Empower to dual tower mode, then you must also enable the second channel in the instrument method. 48600 Even if the dual-tower check box is enabled, the dual-tower option might not appear in the tool bar as expected. Disabling and then re-enabling dual-tower mode (by deselecting and then re-selecting it using View > Toolbars > Dual Tower Mode) should cause the option to appear in the tool bar. 48682 The Help description of the tray chiller is inaccurate. The tray chiller interface does not control heating or cooling of the vial tray. The tray chiller interface only checks if the set temperature has been achieved or if the temperature is out of range. 48685 If you set up a run, then disconnect the Ethernet cable while the system is running, you will see error 39 (Client is not GC owner). If this happens, you must reboot the 7890 GC and the Empower node in order to reestablish the connection. 48724 An error message (1905) is displayed when you uninstall the 7890 GC ICS from a MassLynx workstation or Empower Server and it is the last (or only) ICS to be uninstalled from the target machine. This does not affect the functionality of MassLynx or Empower software. 48741 Following the upload of new parameters for temperature settings for the valve box are not displayed on the front panel of the GC. 48769 For data acquired prior to Empower 3, use the Comprehensive Status report group to report the post run information that was stored with the channel. For data acquired in Empower 3, use the Post Run report group to report the post run information that was stored with the injection. 48773 48774 If you try to report pre-empower 3 data using the Post Run report group, or you try to report Empower 3 or later data using the Comprehensive Status report group, you will receive an error message. Within the architecture of Empower Software, it is not technically possible to support both dual-tower GC injections and the "Inject Ahead" capability of the Agilent 7890 GC at this time. With the support of dual-tower injection capability in Empower 2 SP H Hotfix 1 and Empower 3 FR1, support for the "Inject Ahead" capability of the 7890 GC autosampler has been discontinued. 48802 When the 7890 GC ICS v2.5 is installed with MassLynx SCN851, the 7890 Additional Status is not updated in the MassLynx Inlet Editor. This appears to be an issue with the display in MassLynx SCN851. Page 7 of 10
