2 Product description GHMware is an operating software used to configure devices built by Martens Elektronik GmbH. All device-specific parameters will be configured either by means of a USB connecting cable or a programming adapter via the computer. GHMware is an executable program that does not require any installation or administrative rights. GHMware will not have any effect on the operating system or registry. Sensors, such as the capacitive level switch type MLC433, are connected to the computer or laptop using a mini USB cable. Sensors without any direct USB connection option, such as the MLC420, use the USB programming adapter type EYY120. Windows identifies the measuring device or USB programming adapter as a USB mass storage device that is treated as a conventional USB stick by the operating system. The operating software GHMware collects all data that are necessary for the configuration from the self-writing device. For this, the device provides the required data record through the file interface. Thanks to this configuration further devices of our portfolio can work together and be configured using one single software version. In addition, with this configuration the device and configuration files will be saved on your hard disk allowing you to have a local backup of your information. 5 / 24

2.1 Scope of delivery GHMware (available either on CD or as a download in zip format on the Internet) www.ghm-messtechnik.de/de/downloads/ghm-software This operating manual Programming adapter EYY120 or USB connection cable ACI211, if necessary Further documents, if necessary 2.2 Installation Installation example: Laptop, USB connection cable ACI211 and capacitive level switch MLC430 Fig. 1: Laptop with USB connection cable Installation example: Laptop, Programming adapter EYY120 and capacitive level switch MLC420 Fig. 2: Laptop with USB programming adapter Installation depends on the device type. 6 / 24

3 Controls and functions GHMware only represents the user interface and collects the parameter data directly from the device or from the data saved on the hard disk of your computer. 4 Installation and operation of the software 4.1 Installation of the software Follow these steps to use GHMware: Download or copy GHMware as a ZIP file and save it in a free to define directory on your computer. Extract the compressed ZIP file using an appropriate compression programme. Click on GHMware and execute the programme. Fig. 3: GHMware Startup Screen When connecting a device to the computer for the first time the operating system automatically installs all required drivers and assigns a drive letter. This may take up to a minute. If the drivers have been installed after the initial operation the operating system automatically detects the device as a removable disk and displays a popup window. This window is not required and can be closed. 7 / 24

4.2 Operation of the software File Menu The term File refers to the local storage location. The term Local refers to the operating structure files located on the hard disk of your computer or laptop or on an external medium (e.g. USB memory stick). Read/Open: Read the file for the operating structure in the available language. Fig. 4: File >> Read/Open Save parameter file: (Only enabled if a file has been read previously.) Save the changed parameters on the hard disk of your computer at the previously opened path. Local copy of device: (Only enabled if a device is connected.) Store the device data at a chosen location (hard disk of your computer or laptop and external storage media such as a USB memory stick). We recommend to use this function for backup purposes before changing any device parameters. 8 / 24

Please proceed as follows: 1. Select Device >> USB path. 2. Select Device >> Read/Open and load the Current Parameters (para.dat) of the device. 3. Select File >> Local copy of device. Fig. 5: Example with device parameter loaded 4. Choose a location (drive) for the files. 5. Click OK to confirm. 6. Enter a device name. If the file was previously read a device name will be displayed. You can either accept the suggested name or enter a new name. Do not use any special characters or German umlauts. Fig. 6: Entering a device name 9 / 24

A folder with the previously specified device name is created. This folder contains the device files. 10 / 24

Save summary local All parameter settings are saved to a text file. Example: Fig. 7: Summary of an external device The content of this file is identical to the summary shown in GHMware. The content originates either from a locally saved file or from a connected device, depending on what you have previously read. 11 / 24

Device Menu The term Device refers to connected devices. USB path Selection of the connected device Fig. 8: Selecting the device Read/Open (device connected) Fig. 9: Device >> Read/Open >> para.dat The following parameter files can be selected: - Current parameter (para.dat) Contain current device settings. 12 / 24

The device always uses the data contained in the para.dat file. All other parameter files are additional files. - Customers parameter (para_1.dat) (if supported by the device) This file contains customer-specific settings (test version) that are temporarily stored. Note: The device does not use these data. They are not relevant for the functionality of the device. - Delivery parameter (para_2.dat) (if supported by the device) This file contains customer-specific parameters that differ from factory settings. - Default/factory setting (para_3.dat) (if supported by the device) Resets all changed device parameters back to factory settings. 13 / 24

Save Only enabled if a device is connected. See example below. Fig. 10: Device >> Save >> para.dat / para_1.dat The following options are available: Current parameter (para.dat) Customer parameter (para_1.dat) The device always uses the data contained in the para.dat file. The second parameter file is an additional storage option if supported by the device. For further parameter descriptions please refer to the Operation Manual of the specific device. 14 / 24

Language Menu Fig. 11: Selecting the language of the user interface The default language setting in GHMware depends on the system settings of your operating system. The display of measurements is a device-specific function. Depending on the version of the operating structure which is available with the hardware of the device, up to three measurements (device-dependent) can be permanently displayed. See figure 12 below. Fig. 12: Permanent display of up to 3 measurements 15 / 24

In case that a device provides more than three measurements you can customise the display of measurements by clicking on Measurements and adjust the settings. See figure below. Click Value selection to select those values that should be displayed permanently (up to three values). Depending on the device you have the option to specify the decimal places and units. Click Show all to show all values. 16 / 24
