Coursework and Controlled Assessment Timetable 2017-2018 Coursework () Although some subjects dedicate class time to modular coursework it is mainly written work produced by the student independently and in their own time. Controlled Assessment () Controlled assessment is a new approach for those subjects that require internal assessment. It is a tightening of the circumstances in which candidates, over a period of time, complete those aspects of the subject that are usually marked by their teacher.

English Literature English Language Shakespeare - May examinations. on-going prep work in class - Terms 2 and 3 20% of final Literature Qualification. *Taking and Listening assessments all year in class time (final tasks worth 20%) Geography June - field trip On-going in class and homework through the month in preparation for final GCSE Unit 3 Fieldwork exam 20% Journalism Ongoing controlled class times Two hour slot Jan exam Two hour slot May exam On-going preparation in class time. Final GCSE 25% Unit 1 Moving Image Arts September - June Task 1 - November Task 3 - December/Janua ry Component 2: Acquisition of skills in Moving Image Production. 20 % of final marks Component 2 consists of 4 tasks that will be assessed in class time throughout the academic year. The 4 tasks will be submitted for moderation in the Summer of Year 12.

Task 2 - February/March Task 4 - May/June Technology January-June. To be continued in Year 12 Unit 3 Design and Manufacturing Project. Students complete a design project comprising of a design portfolio and an associated manufacturing task. 50% of GCSE.

On-going preparation in class Talking and Listening all year in class Talking and Listening 20% final GCSE English Language 40% Unit 3 is worth 25% of final GCSE grade. Data collection in June of Year 11. ALL will take place during Geography class time; high control will be completed in class under exam conditions.

History October to January Unit 3 25% of final GCSE grade. Teaching and preparation work completed in class time. Pupils will answer two questions on the assassination of JFK. Final write up will take place during January mock examinations. Home Economics October-February On-going in class and for homework as appropriate. They will submit their portfolio at the end of April/beginning of May for external moderation.

Music Sept-April on-going in class. Two composition tasks, 30% of overall award. PE 8 week exercise programme presentation week beginning 11th December, 2017. Practical (both elements) On-going Sept-Mar Technology 1 day over Christmas Examination period plus hours and prep done throughout year September - end April. 20% of final mark 40% of final mark Design and Make Task 40% final grade
