Read the instructions in the manual. The safety of this product is only guaranteed when it is used in accordance with its purpose. Maintenance should only be carried out by qualified persons. Keep the device in a dry place and away from any liquids that might spill. When the device is open, do not carry out any operations other than the ones set out in this document. Check that the frequencies and power levels of the radio communication modules and the integrated antennas are appropriate for the location in which you intend to use the device. Only use verified batteries provided by Xeelas B.V. Only connect Xeelas approved sensors or devices to the Xeelas Node. Always contact Xeelas before connecting any unapproved sensors or devices to the Xeelas Node. Do not open the product as there is a risk of electrical shock. For your own safety, be sure to disconnect the DC Supply and batteries before connecting and disconnecting Sensors or devices. If there is an electrical failure, disconnect the main switch immediately and disconnect the battery or any other power supply that is being used. Do not try to recharge the non-rechargeable battery. It may explode and cause injuries and destroy the equipment. This symbol on the product or on its packaging indicates that this product must not be disposed of with your other household waste. For further information concerning your nearest recycling center, please contact your nearest local authority/town hall offices, your household waste collection company or the shop where you bought the product.
The Xeelas Node is a LoRaWAN sensor equipped with an GPS Module, accelerometer, RS232 and external GPIO to connect all kinds of sensors. The purpose of the Xeelas Node is to monitor and collect various data from the connected apparatus. Some of this collected data will be send over the LoRaWAN network to the Xeelas Back-end system. In this back-end system the data will be analyzed and visualized so an operator can quickly gain insight in the status of the apparatus.
The Xeelas Node can be supplied with an external DC Supply or with the internal primary batteries. The minimum current consumption is 11 µa (6V) when all peripherals are in standby mode. The Xeelas Node will last over 10 years with one LoRa transmission each day. The DC supply most supply power within the following range: Ref Min Typ Max Units Vin 5 12,00 24,00 V Current 0,015 0,100 1000 ma The Xeelas Node is always provided with 2 x Saft LS14500 premium lithium batteries. Ref (1 battery) Min Typ Max Units Nominal voltage - 3,6 - V Nominal energy - 9,36 - Wh The Xeelas Node can provide 3V3 External supply for connected sensors to the Xeelas Node. This current is limited to 300 ma when supplied with DC and 50 ma when battery powered. The user must make sure that when supplied with batteries this limit is not exceeded. +3dBi Active Gain Hinged Whip Antenna is provided with the Xeelas Node. The Xeelas Node is provided with three connectors for the DC Supply, General I/O and RS232 connection. When contacting us always include product version, serial number and batch ID.
The Xeelas Node can be installed to any flat or round surface (with a U-bolt bracket). Screws for mounting are not supplied with the Xeelas Node. To have optimal Radio performance there are two key rules for optimizing the radio range: Mount and install the Xeelas Node as high as possible. Limit the number of obstacles between the Xeelas Node and the open air. Make sure the LoRa antenna is always in the upright position. In a case where Xeelas Node must be installed inside a metal enclosure where radio reception is very low, the LoRa and GPS antenna can be extended to outside the enclosure. Especially the GPS Sensor is very sensitive for obstructions, like walls and metal enclosures. In this case the external antenna option for the GPS can be used. A LoRa & GPS Combined antenna can be bought at Xeelas.
Wired sensors or devices can be connected through the supplied terminal connectors. Please contact Xeelas if you want to connect a sensor that is not in the supported devices/sensors lists on the Xeelas website (http://xeelas.nl). See specification of compatible connectors in chapter 2.2.3. When the batteries are depleted new batteries can be bought at Xeelas or the user can provide batteries on its own risk. Xeelas only guarantees correct device operation with the Saft LS14500 batteries. To replace the batteries the back of the device needs to be opened. This can be done by removing the four screw that is holding the back lid in place. After removing the back lid the batteries can be removed so new batteries can be installed.
