I. DirectX Driver Installation Before inserting the card and drivers, you need to install DirectX 9.0c. This is available on the installation CD included with your product. 1. Insert the CD into your CD-ROM drive, and select DirectX from the menu that appears. 2. The Installing Microsoft(R) DirectX(R) screen will appear. Read the agreement, then select I accept the agreement, and click Next. 3. Click Next through the prompts until the installation finishes. If you have not installed DirectX before, this may take a while. After installing DirectX, you may need to restart your computer. Note: You can also download the latest version of DirectX from Microsoft s webpage at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/default.aspx. 1
II. Install the drivers (from CD) If you have downloaded updated drivers from our website, please skip to section III. Install the drivers (from downloaded file). 1. Insert the card into your computer. Desktop PC Users: If you have a PCI or PCIe card for your desktop, turn off your computer and place the card into an open slot. (see your User Manual for more details) Notebook PC Users: If you have a CardBus or ExpressCard, simply slide it into an open slot. 2. The Add New Hardware window will pop up. Insert your Installation CD into the CD-ROM drive. Make sure Install the software automatically (Recommended) is selected, then click Next. 2
Note: If the Found New Hardware Wizard does not appear, right click on My Computer and select Manage. A. If My Computer is on your desktop: 1. Right click 2. Select B. If My Computer is in your Start Menu: 2. Right click 3. Select C. The Computer Management window will appear. Click on Device Manager, and then click on your computer on the right. Now click on the Scan for hardware changes button, and the Found New Hardware Wizard should appear. 3. Click 2. Select 3
3. The driver will automatically install. 4. Now click Finish. Driver installation is complete! 4
III. Install the drivers (from downloaded file) Note: If you installed drivers from CD, you do not need to perform these steps! 1. You can download new versions of our driver from our website at www.lifeview.com. After downloading these files, you need to unzip them into a folder. In Windows XP, right-click on the downloaded file and select Extract All 1. Right click 2. The Extraction Wizard window will open. Here, continue clicking Next to extract the files into a folder. Note: For other Windows systems (like 98SE/ME/2000), you may need an unzipping utility. You can find one from www.winzip.com or www.altools.net. 3. Click 5
3. The Add New Hardware window will pop up. Make sure Install from a list or specific location (Advanced) is selected, then click Next. Note: If the Found New Hardware Wizard does not appear, right click on My Computer and select Manage. A. If My Computer is on your desktop: 1. Right click B. If My Computer is in your Start Menu: 2. C. The Computer Management window will appear. Click on Device Manager, and then click on your computer on the right. Now click on the Scan for hardware changes button, and the Found New Hardware Wizard should appear. 3. Click 4. In the next window, select Search for the best driver in these locations, check Include this location in the search, and click on the Browse button. 2. Check 3. Click 7
5. Select the folder where the extracted drivers are located, then click OK. folder with drivers 6. Click on Next and the drivers will install. 7. The drivers will automatically install. 8
