About About The InterKey 2.0 for Pocket PC program is used for enlarging the capability of using standard onscreen keyboard. The InterKey 2.0 program is developed by Paragon Software Group pragmatists in the following Editions: InterKey 2.0 Professional, InterKey 2.0 Standard with the narrow set of national keyboard layouts. This allows you to choose that Edition which includes only necessary for your working with the text functions. By default you have only Standard English layout on your PDA. If you have InterKey 2.0 installed on your PDA device you also can use national layouts for the following languages: Albanian Belarusian Belgian Bulgarian Canadian Catalan Croatian Czech Danish Digits Dutch English Estonian Finnish French German Greek Hungarian Iceland Italian Latin Latvian Lithuanian Macedonian Mongolian Norwegian Polish Portuguese Romanian Russian Serbian Slovak Slovenian Spanish Swedish Turkish Ukrainian In addition, alternative keyboard layouts are available for some languages (for example, standard and phonetic layouts are available for Russian language, Bulgarian Latin, Cyrillic and Cyrillic phonetic layouts for Bulgarian, etc.) So you can enter and edit the text in national language in any Pocket PC application. Also, InterKey 2.0 program allows you to use multiple keyboard layouts simultaneously (for example, English Greek German) and easily switch between input languages. 3
System requirements System requirements The InterKey 2.0 program is developed for devices based on such popular mobile operating systems as: Pocket PC 2002, Windows Mobile 2003, Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition and Windows Mobile 5.0. InterKey 2.0 Editions InterKey 2.0 has the following Editions: InterKey 2.0 Professional includes the set of the national keyboard layouts for all supporting languages with the functionality of the word suggestions when typing the test InterKey 2.0 Standard includes the set of the national layouts for all supporting languages. The function of the words suggesting is not available in this version of the InterKey program We offer you the InterKey Editions with narrow set of national keyboard layouts. (For more information, refer to the "List of InterKey 2.0 Editions with narrow set of national keyboard layouts" description) The set of the supported national keyboard layouts in such Editions is based on the related languages and geographic characteristic. For example, InterKey 2.0 Professional Baltic Edition includes Estonian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Russian and English keyboard layouts and InterKey 2.0 Professional Mediterranean Edition includes Greek, Turkish and English keyboard layouts. Registration and trial-version limitations InterKey 2.0 Professional Holland Edition InterKey 2.0 Professional Portuguese Edition Dutch and English Portuguese and English Such Editions as the InterKey 2.0 Professional support the functionally of words suggesting when typing the text. Registration and trial-version limitations You can register your copy of the InterKey 2.0 program as during the installation so as after the program installed on the device. Registration during the installation When you accept the agreement license statements during the program installation you proceed to the Registration window. Enter the Registration code which you got after purchasing the software (the detailed information about how to obtain your registration code is available in the section: "How to get the registration code". To continue the installation press Install. Note: If you do not enter the Registration Code, the trial-version of the program will be installed. In this case you can register your InterKey copy later. For detailed information, refer to the "Registration after installation" description Registration after installation The trial-version of InterKey 2.0 program works as the commercial version (with the same functionalities) but it is available during 14 days after installation. From time to time you will see the massage that you should register your copy of InterKey program Registration from the InterKey 2.0 Settings window To register your copy of the InterKey 2.0 program do the following: 1. Open Start>Settings 5
Registration and trial-version limitations 2. In the System tab choose InterKey Options. 3. Select the General tab. 4. In the General tab tap "Register InterKey" button 5. In the registration window enter the registration code, which you got after purchasing the InterKey 2.0 program. 6. To complete the registration tap the "Registration" button in this window. 6
Installation Registration in the reminding message window You can register the InterKey 2.0 program in the registration reminding message window. 1. When the registration reminding message appears tap the "Registration" button in this window 2. In the Registration window enter the Registration code, which you obtained after purchasing the InterKey 2.0 program. 3. To complete the registration tap the "Registration" button. ATTENTION! Please be accurate when you type in the registration code: do not mix up zero with letter O, you should not enter any unnecessary spaces in the input line. You receive the registration code for your game copy after purchasing the software (the detailed info about how to obtain your registration code is available in the section: "How to get the registration code"). Installation ATTENTION! Do not forget to make a backup copy of your mobile device data before the installation of any program (including "InterKey 2.0") to avoid the accidental loss of important data. If you install the InterKey program on the device, where the InterKey is already installed (for example, the previous version - InterKey 1.2) this previous InterKey version will be removed and the version you have chosen will be installed. 7
Installation The installation of InterKey 2.0 program is executed from your Desktop PC. NOTE: Check if the Microsoft ActiveSync program which is necessary for connecting your PDA and Desktop PC is installed on your Desktop Computer. Usually, this program is on the disk which is supplied with your PDA. The last version of Microsoft ActiveSync you always can find on the Microsoft Website: www.microsoft.com To install the InterKey 2.0 program do the following: 1. Connect your PDA with desktop PC by cable. 2. Start ActiveSync program that provides partnership between PDA and Desktop PC. When devices are connected an icon of connection on the Desktop PC tray bar becomes rich-green. 3. Start the *.exe installation file on your Desktop PC by double click the left mouse button on it. After that the installation program will start automatically on your device. 4. Follow the instructions of the installation program. NOTE: If you do not enter the Registration code during the program installation the trial version of the InterKey 2.0 program will be installed. In this case you can register your copy of the program later. For more information, refer to the "Registration after installation" description. 5. If the Storage Card is inserted in your device, you can choose where the program would be installed. NOTE: In order to the InterKey 2.0 is a system application for program proper work the most its files will be installed to the main device memory independently where you chose to install the program. Only words suggesting bases will be installed on the Storage Card when you choose this location. After installation the InterKey options window appears. In this window you can choose the active national keyboard layouts and change the program settings to make its using more convenient for you. 8
How to use InterKey For more information about the InterKey settings, refer to the "Settings" description. How to use InterKey How to use the InterKey On-Screen keyboard for text input When you install InterKey 2.0 you get an opportunity to use the On-Screen keyboard with the necessary national layouts for text input in any application on your PDA. To switch on the On-Screen keyboard start the application where you suppose to use national fonts then tap the triangle in the bottom of the window. In the context menu choose InterKey Keyboard from the list of input methods. 9
How to use InterKey Indicator in the bottom of the window shows the keyboard icon. This means that InterKey Keyboard is active and will appear when you tap this indicator or by default in the case when it would be offered to enter the text (For example, when you start Pocket Word). To switch off the InterKey Keyboard tap the indicator again. Using words suggesting function If you use InterKey 2.0 Professional or any of InterKey 2.0 with narrow set of national keyboard layouts you can use the functionality of words suggesting when you type the text. When you start typing the program analyses input letters and offers you several ways for spelling the word. If you see the word you mentioned to enter is in the list just tap it by stylus and the program will enter the word automatically. You can adjust the number of the suggesting words. By default 4 words are used. For more information, refer to the "Word Completion" description. 10
How to use InterKey How to switch between input languages To switch between input languages tap the language indicator on the InterKey On-Screen keyboard. It is a very easy and quickly way. Switching to the numbered keyboard To switch to the keyboard state with digits and additional mathematics symbols tap the green key on the InterKey On-Screen keyboard. To switch back tap this key again. Switching to the keyboard with the special characters or characters with an accent If you need to input a special character or a character with an accent, use a Dead key option. Dead key is marked with a rose color. By taping the Dead key, you will get a new state of the keyboard with a choice of accented characters. 11
How to use InterKey Settings You can change InterKey settings to make the work with the program more convenient. Tap Start>Settings. On the System tab choose InterKey Options. InterKey 2.0 settings consist of 3 tabs: General, Advanced and Visualization. General In General tab you can add or remove the keyboard layouts for different languages. 12
How to use InterKey To add new keyboard layout tap Add. After that you will proceed to the window with the list of available keyboard layouts. Choose keyboard layouts for languages which you are going to use. The chosen languages will be selected with blue color. To add them to the list of active input languages tap Ok. To remove any keyboard layout choose this layout in the General tab and tap Remove. For InterKey 2.0 Professional and InterKey Editions with the narrow set of national keyboard layouts the setting of words suggesting during the text input is available. If you uncheck the item "Suggest words when entering text" the words suggesting will not appear when you type the text. Words suggesting bases are supplemented with the words when you type the word for the first time. Such setting is not available for the InterKey 2.0 Standard settings. In the General tab you can register your copy of the program, using "Register InterKey" button. For more information, refer to the "Registration after installation" description 13
How to use InterKey Advanced Layout You can disable (enable) the function of Gesture recognizing for following commands: Space, Uppercase, Backspace, Enter. To disable the function of gesture recognizing just uncheck the item Enable Gestures. NOTE: Gesture is graphical element drawn by stylus on the screen which the InterKey takes as the command. Word Completion Word suggesting settings are available only for InterKey 2.0 Professional or for any InterKey Edition with narrow set of national keyboard layouts. For InterKey 2.0 Standard the word suggesting setting are not available. You can change the number of suggesting words. 4 words are used by default. If you uncheck the Add a space after suggested word item the space when you choose the suggested word will not be added automatically. Also you can remove words suggesting bases which are not used to enlarge free space in the main device memory or on the memory card (depends, where the words suggesting bases were installed). For this purpose tap Delete. To confirm removing tap Yes. 14
How to use InterKey Visualization In this layout you can adjust the On-Screen keyboard appearance: the keys colour and style of the letters which are displayed on the keys. Keyboard Font Properties Weight. You can choose the weight of On-Screen font. Size. You can choose the font size. 3D Look. If you uncheck this item the appearance of the keys will be less relief. Colored Keys. If you uncheck this item the On-Screen Keyboard keys will not be coloured depending of its functionality 15
Uninstallation InterKey 2.0 program Uninstallation InterKey 2.0 program 1. Tap Start and choose Settings. Then open the System tab and tap the Remove programs item 2. Choose the Paragon Software InterKeyPPC. Tap Remove. 3. In the appeared dialog tap Yes to confirm the InterKey uninstallation. After that the massage that its necessary to restart your Pocket PC will appear. Tap Ok. The system will be restarted automatically and after that the InterKey 2.0 will be uninstalled completely. 16
