General Safety Notes 2 General Safety Notes 2.1 Safety Instructions for Assembly and Operating ersonnel The operating instructions contain basic safety instructions which are to be observed during installation, operation and maintenance. Non-observance will endanger persons, plant and the environment. WARNING Risk due to unauthorised work being performed on the device! Risk of injury to persons and damage to equipment. Assembling, installation, putting into service, operation and maintenance must only be performed by personnel both authorised and suitably trained for this purpose. Before assembly/putting into service: - Read through the operating instructions. - Give adequate training to the assembly and operating personnel. - Ensure that the contents of the operating instructions are fully understood by the personnel in charge. - The national assembly and installation regulations (e.g. IEC/ 60079-14) apply. When operating the devices: - Ensure the operating instructions are made available on location at all times. - Observe safety instructions. - Observe national safety instructions and accident prevention regulations. - Operate the device according to its performance data only. - Servicing/maintenance or repair work which are not described in the operating instructions must not be performed without prior agreement with the manufacturer. - Any damage can invalidate the explosion protection. - Any alterations and modifications to the device impairing its explosion protection are not permitted. - Install and use the device only if it is undamaged, dry and clean. If you have questions: - Contact the manufacturer. 2.2 Warning notes Warnings are sub-divided in these operating instructions according to the following scheme: Type and source of the danger! ossible consequences. Measures for avoiding the danger. WARNING They are always identified by the signalling word WARNING and sometimes also have a symbol which is specific to the danger involved. 2.3 Conformity to Standards The relevant standards are listed in the EC Declaration of Conformity. Intended Use 3 Intended Use The position switches /1 are designed to monitor moving parts of machines and plants. The devices can be used to position, control or monitor depending on the circuit/installation. The position switches consist of an encapsulated flameproof switching element installed into an enclosure with increased safety. Different actuators (actuator inserts) are available depending on the application. The devices are approved for use in auxiliary, control and signal circuits in hazardous areas of Zones 1, 2 as well as 21, 22 according to IEC/ 60079-14 and IEC/ 641-14. The requirements of IEC/ 641-14, for example as regards dust deposits and temperature limits, must be observed. The position switches with safety function are used in safety circuits for position monitoring of moveable protective devices according to 1088 and IEC/ 60947--1. Note: As part of the entire system or machine the position switches fulfil safety-related functions. A complete safety-oriented system usually contains sensors, evaluation units, signalling devices and concepts for safe switch-off. For the integration of the position switch into the complete system the control categories specified in the risk assessment must always be observed. The validation according to /ISO 13849-2 or IEC/ 62061 is required for this purpose. Furthermore, the erformance Level and SIL CL can be lower than the single level because of the combination of several safety components and other safety-related devices, for example by means of serial connection of switches. The responsibility taken by the manufacturer of the system implies ensuring correct general function of the system or machine. WARNING Use the device in accordance with its designated use only! Otherwise, the manufacturer s liability and warranty will expire. The device may only be used according to the operating conditions described in these operating instructions. The device must be used in areas subject to explosion hazards only according to these operating instructions. 4 Technical data Explosion rotection Europe (ATEX) Gas and dust BVS 0 ATEX E 007 E II 2 G Ex d e IIC T6 Gb (Ta = - 20... + 40 C) E II 2 G Ex d e IIC T Gb (Ta = - 20... + 60 C) E II 2 D Ex td A21 I67 T80 C Db (Ta = - 20... + 40 C) E II 2 D Ex td A21 I67 T9 C Db (Ta = - 20... + 60 C) Certifications and certificates Certificates ATEX, Kazahkstan (TR), Russia (TR), Belarus (TR) 4 Metal osition Switch

6 Installation Installation WARNING The regulations of IEC/ 60079-14 and IEC/ 641-14 apply to the installation of electrical equipment in hazardous areas. The ATEX certificates and the special conditions contained therein are to be observed. Explosion protection cannot be guaranteed any more if the components are installed incorrectly. The devices must not be used as a mechanical stop. Only cable glands with the minimum degree of protection I6 must be used. Make sure that these components have an "EC Type Examination Certificate", respectively an "IECEx Certificate of Conformity". The instructions of the standards 100, 93 and 1088 must be observed. - Open the enclosure cover. - Cut the cable/line to a suitable length for the correct connection. - Lead the cable/line through the cable gland into the enclosure and connect it. - Connect the protective conductor (inside and outside). - Close the enclosure cover. - Tighten the cable gland (mounting thread 2.3 Nm, pressure screw 1. Nm). - Fix the position switch by means of 2 screws on an even surface. - Secure the switch against unintended loosening, for example by means of disposable safety screws. Make sure that the position switch is not moved even in case of error. Electrical connection The operating position is optional. X Connections and inner protective conductor for max. 1. mm X External protective conductor max. for 4 mm 2 - The conductor must be carefully connected. - The conductor insulation must reach to the terminal. - When stripping the insulation the conductor must not be damaged (nicked). - Ensure that the maximum permissible conductor temperatures are not exceeded by suitable selection of cables and means of running them. Commissioning 7 Commissioning Before putting into service - Make sure that the device is not damaged. - Make sure that the device is installed correctly. - Remove any foreign objects from the device. - Check if cable glands and stopping plugs are tight. - Check if screws and nuts are tightly fitted. - Inspect the cable glands for signs of damage. - Check the tightening torques. - Observe rated operational voltage. Short-circuit in the main circuit during operation Replace the position switch after each short circuit in the main circuit (the element is hermetically sealed and the state of the switching contacts cannot be checked). 8 Maintenance 8.1 Regular maintenance work - Consult the relevant national regulations (e.g. IEC/ 60079-17) to determine the type and extent of inspections. - lan the intervals so that any defects in the equipment which may be anticipated are promptly detected. To check as part of the maintenance schedule: X Check if the cables are clamped properly. X Inspect the device for signs of visible damage. X Compliance with the permitted temperatures in accordance with IEC/ 60079-0. X Make sure that the device is used according to its designated use. In case of rough operating conditions it is recommended: - to check the smooth running of the actuator. - to remove soiling. - to re-lubricate the shafts and bolts. - to check the cable entry and connections. 8.2 Cleaning X Clean with a cloth, brush, vacuum cleaner or similar items. X When cleaning with a damp cloth, use water or mild, non-abrasive, non-scratching cleaning agents. X Never use aggressive cleaning agents or solvents. Metal osition Switch
