Sensing Nodes for Smart City Based on Connected City Light Poles IoT Services Traditional Network Services Smart control over LED lighting Intelligently adjusts the brightness of LED lighting, reducing power consumption. Sensor installation platform Installs multiple sensors on a street light pole to monitor the wind speed, temperature, humidity, air quality, and traffic, etc. Distributed sensor access Configures a street lighting controller (installed on a street light pole) as the access node to allow access of sensors installed in other positions. Charging poles Provides wired and wireless access modes for pole vendors. Wi-Fi coverage Provides 2.4 GHz public Wi-Fi access (also possible for small cell cellular coverage). Wireless/Wired backhaul Backhaul channels for all services based on smart street light poles (including backhaul at the aggregation light poles). Video surveillance Integrates video surveillance cameras. Outdoor LED display Advertisement push, environmental and social information (e.g., shopping, dining, etc.) publication, and emergency information release.
