What is marvelous about MTNL Vault is that it is automatic : You don t have to remember to backup your data, yet the latest copy of your data is always available on the server. This is a lifesaver when you need it: if your battery dies, you lose your phone, or you don t have your phone with you but need a number. How long does it take to activate my MTNL Vault connection? Your MTNL Vault connection is normally activated as soon as you download and register the client. 20

Are there any special requirements to use this service? In order to provide you with an exceptional service, there are a few special requirements: 1 GPRS/WAP enabled for your phone Is there a client or application that I need to install? Yes, you have to download and install a Symbian (.SIS/.SISX) file. You can signup to download and install this MTNL Vault application via http://210.7.66.209/dolphin website (click on New User Signup ), MTNL WAP site or by sending SMS PB to 52585. Can I use my phone when MTNL Vault is running if I have a Symbian phone? You can continue to use your phone as you normally do. MTNL Vault runs silently in the background and is non-intrusive. It automatically pauses when you are using your phone, and resumes any activity when you stop using your phone. Signup for the service Symbian Users There are 3 ways of signing up to the MTNL Vault service. Via WEB 1 Click on New User Signup link on this website. 2 Follow the on-screen guide and input details about your phone model and details. 3 If the MTNL Vault application is supported on your phone, you will receive a Service Message on your phone from MTNL Vault for you to download the application on your 21

phone to begin your backup. 4 If the MTNL Vault application or SyncML settings are not supported on your phone, you will need to signup as a Legacy user by sending REG to 52585. Via SMS 1 All users can send SMS PB to 52585. 2 You will be sent a Service Message with a WAP link from MTNL Vault. 3 If your phone is not GPRS enabled, send REG to 52585 to signup as a Legacy user. Why does application take long time to synchronize/backup the data, when backup is happening first time after initial download of the application? When application is downloaded on the phone it backs up entire phone book on your web secure account. Application sends the contacts in small packets (having 20 to 50 contact-number of contacts depends on strength of GPRS connection) to the server for backup. So application takes little more time while backing up t he contacts first time. 22

up on our server. You may choose to SMS UNSUB to 52585 to unsubscribe from the service and effectively DELETE all your data. Use the service while roaming You can use the service if you have GPRS enabled while roaming. (Contact Customer Care, for GPRS related queries). Why is MTNL Vault always in my list of active applications? In order to deliver an automatic experience, MTNL Vault needs to constantly listen for changes. This is why it s always in the list of active applications. The Antitheft / Secure application also runs alongside your MTNL Vault application. Change my MTNL Vault password To change your password for the service, 1 Go to the MTNL Vault application on your mobile phone 2 Click Options > Other > Change Password 3 Type your old and new password. 4 Your password to MTNL Vault service is now changed. You will also receive a confirmation SMS on your Username and new Password. 5 Every time you login to the WEB/WAP, your new password will apply. 25

Does MTNL Vault have an impact on the battery consumption? MTNL Vault has some impact on the battery consumption because it runs in the background at all times. Why does the GPRS connection come and go every now and then? MTNL Vault transfers data over the GPRS connection. When running unattended, it does this without notifying you. When you make a change to your contact database for instance, MTNL Vault picks this up and opens a GPRS connection, and transfers the data. So an open GPRS connection indicates that your data is being transferred to the MTNL web Vault, or vice versa, so that you have the latest copy of your data available on the phone as well as the MTNL Vault web. How do I restore my backed up data on a new phone number (New MSISDN)? You can restore your backed up data on a new phone number. However, you can only maintain one phone number per MTNL Vault account. You can restore data on a new phone number via SMS Via SMS 1. Send NEWMN<space><userid><space><password> to 52585 2. You will receive a confirmation SMS that your phone number has changed. 26

3. If your phone supports MTNL Vault Symbian or Java client, a service message with the application will be sent to your new phone. Download and install the MTNL Vault application on your new phone. 4. Enter your existing password. 5. The data will be automatically transferred to the new phone within a few minutes. 6.
