Introduction of new Splash Screens for all applications When starting a Smap3D application, a new Splash Screen will be displayed. Smap3D PlantDesign What is new in V12 Page 4

Pipe specifications now in P&ID Stand-alone installations usable Due to changes in the Setup and new functions in Pipe Specification Editor, since version 12 it is possible to use pipe specification functionality also in P&ID Stand-alone installations. Up to now this was just possible, if all Smap3D applications where installed on the computer. With a P&ID stand-alone installation now the Plant Design Administrator and the Pipe Specification Editor will automatically be installed. o When using the setup option Default configuration and Data, some prepared pipe specifications will be installed. Smap3D PlantDesign What is new in V12 Page 5

P&ID P&ID New and updated standard symbols The symbol standard EN 62424 for Representation of PCE requests has been added to the P&ID symbol library (replaced DIN 19227 T1). The symbols of standards EN ISO 10628-2 have been updated to the latest standard description. o Additionally, these symbols were enhanced with default process attributes, which are directly usable as symbol data fields. Smap3D PlantDesign What is new in V12 Page 6

P&ID New functions to create and use Object groups Functions to create and use Object groups are new in Smap3D P&ID. Object groups in P&ID allow the grouping and the simultaneous usage of the different object types Symbols, Lines and Texts. Smap3D PlantDesign What is new in V12 Page 7

P&ID New options to define Line colors With the new options to define Line colors, you can fulfill every color requirement. Smap3D PlantDesign What is new in V12 Page 8

P&ID New Line data fields to enhance the line article data With the new Line data fields it is possible to enhance the line article data with any kind of user specific attribute (process attribute). Smap3D PlantDesign What is new in V12 Page 9

P&ID Enhancement to Reference designations To fulfill the requirements of standard EN 81346 / IEC 81346 completely, we enhanced the existing function Reference designation with the Product aspect. o For the compliant definition of Reference designations in a diagram, the aspects to Function, Location and Product can be used now. Prepared tables with definitions to KKS (Identification system to power plants) we will deliver in a future service pack for version 12. o These prepared tables can then be imported and used in function Reference designation. Smap3D PlantDesign What is new in V12 Page 10

P&ID Full support of Inch unit system With version 12 the full support of the Inch (imperial) unit system is implemented in Smap3D P&ID. All relevant system and dimension settings can now be set to Inch. Smap3D PlantDesign What is new in V12 Page 11

P&ID New module Project generator The new module Project generator is now included in the P&ID Installation. With the Project generator it is possible to generate new diagrams (or whole projects) automatically based on a definition table (Microsoft Excel) and existing subdrawings. Smap3D PlantDesign What is new in V12 Page 12

P&ID Further improvements in P&ID The new tab Special settings (in menu Settings) provide new options to: the reminder message for updating the lists before printing or PDF export. the automatic update of lists when saving. the automatic update of components (with component database) when saving. the display of the flow arrow on conducting lines. A new option in tab Pointer/Screen allows to control the display of the Reference points on the screen, depending on the zoom level. Smap3D PlantDesign What is new in V12 Page 13

Pipe Specification Editor Pipe Specification Editor New tab Header The implementation of the new tab Header provides the definition of individual pipe specification header properties. The set of used header information can be defined freely. All existing header information of a used pipe specification will be written automatically to the pipeline path as virtual characteristics. A mapping of this header information to the Smap3D Isometric drawing header is possible. Smap3D PlantDesign What is new in V12 Page 14

Pipe Specification Editor New status of a pipe specification The new status of a pipe specification allows to save a pipe specification in three different states. Draft: With this status a pipe specification can only be saved and edited in the Pipe Specification Editor. It is not possible to be used in P&ID or Piping. Without 3D models: With this status a pipe specification can be used in P&ID. It is not possible to be used in Piping. o This status is sufficient if you wish to use pipe specifications in a P&ID stand-alone installation. Read more details in the chapter New setup option and New in P&ID. Complete: With this status a pipe specification can be used in P&ID and Piping. Smap3D PlantDesign What is new in V12 Page 15

Pipe Specification Editor New application Pipe Specification Search The new Pipe Specification Search allows users to search for information in the new pipe specification header, to find the required pipe specification. Till now users had to know the pipe specification name to select and use the required pipe specification. In the new Pipe Specification Search different queries can be used to search for required values in the pipe specification header of all existing pipe specifications (in the defined pipe spec folder). In the lower part of the application window the search results will be listed and can be selected for further operations (e.g. Generate pipeline). Smap3D PlantDesign What is new in V12 Page 16

Pipe Specification Editor New key names and QuickPlace methods To support the new QuickPlace automation in Smap3D Piping, in the Pipe Specification Editor and the included common setting some new key names are implemented. Coupling (for new QP method) Slope component (for new QP method) Branch (for existing QP method Tee) Cap (for existing QP method End component) Blind flange (for existing QP method End component) Smap3D PlantDesign What is new in V12 Page 17

Pipe Specification Editor Further improvements to the Pipe Specification Editor New option for a base setting for the Preview in pipe specification selection dialog. New option to the usage of a Fittings CS tolerance. This tolerance should prevent the placement of new fittings to some existing fittings, if the coordinate system distance between CS does not exactly have 0,0000 mm. Allowed values are in the range between 0.00 and 5.00 mm. There are changes in the definitions to the function Material for pipes. o o These settings were moved from the Plant Design Administrator into the Pipe specification Editor. Now we support the existing Material libraries of the supported CAD systems. Smap3D PlantDesign What is new in V12 Page 18

3D Piping 3D Piping Redesign of different algorithms and all the QuickPlace methods Because of the redesign of the important calculation algorithms, as well as all the existing QuickPlace methods (Placement automation) in the Piping software, we reached a much better performance at generation, recalculate and editing of pipelines. At the latest tests we measured an improvement of 15-30 %, depending on the automation. Smap3D PlantDesign What is new in V12 Page 19

3D Piping New function Recalculate / Refresh region The new functions Recalculate region and Refresh region (Piping context menu) allow to recalculate/refresh a pipeline just in the region where something has changed. For example: was a valve placed to a linear pipe segment, a recalculate and refresh is possible on just this linear region of the pipeline. All the rest of the pipeline is not recalculated and refreshed. Smap3D PlantDesign What is new in V12 Page 20

3D Piping New QuickPlace method Coupling The new QuickPlace method Coupling allows the placement of coupling or socket parts to fittings, where such a placement request is included. Requirements for a correct result of this QP method: The fitting which a coupling or socket part should be placed to, must include a coordinate system with the end treatment 09-Socket on the position where the coupling/socket should be placed. Additionally, some appropriate fittings must be defined in the pipe specification with the key name Coupling. Smap3D PlantDesign What is new in V12 Page 21

3D Piping New QuickPlace method Slope component The new QuickPlace method Slope component allows the automatic placement of a variable dummy part for an easier generation of slope pipelines. Till now, such dummy parts must be placed manually on the pipeline path, to satisfy the ideal calculation requirements of a 3D CAD system. With the setting Bend angle tolerance in the Plant Design Administrator, this automation can be activated and controlled in an angle range between 0,1 and 10. A prepared dummy part will be installed with the Default configuration and Data installation. Smap3D PlantDesign What is new in V12 Page 22

3D Piping Basic support of new 3D-sketch in Solid Edge The new 3D-sketch feature of Solid Edge (since ST7) can be used in Piping v12 for the creation of pipeline paths. Because of missing detail functions in Solid Edge, we can currently provide just a basic support of this 3D-sketch. The XpresRoute module is still required. Current limitations at work with the 3D-sketch are: No generation of the pipeline path, if a mix of 3D-sketch and XpresRoute elements is recognized. No support of the 3D-sketch feature in the Piping function for concentric reductions/expanders, because the required Split points cannot be created. Smap3D PlantDesign What is new in V12 Page 23

3D Piping New application VC Writer The new VC Writer (Virtual Characteristics Writer) allows the writing of virtual characteristics (e.g. TAG numbers, etc.) to 3D models in an assembly, without using the P&ID To-Do List. Such virtual characteristics (Name and Value) can be recognized in Smap3D Isometric, and can be displayed on the resulting isometric drawing. The definition and set of the virtual characteristics for usage in VC Writer can be made in Plant Design Administrator. Smap3D PlantDesign What is new in V12 Page 24

3D Piping Further improvements in 3D Piping New option Don't write properties from Bend to Bend universal in Plant Design Administrator. o o If this option is active, no properties from Bend 90 components will be written into Bend universal components. This option is designed for the cases, where the Bend universal components in the standard parts library do have their own file property set. When generating a pipeline with Bend universal, the properties from Bend 90 will not be written to the generated Bend universal files. New option Use assembly name as Prefix/Suffix for pipeline subassembly name from P&ID in Plant Design Administrator. o o If this option is active, the name of the active main assembly will automatically be used as prefix/suffix for the name of pipeline subassembly delivered from the P&ID diagram. Without this setting it can result in a lot of pipeline subassemblies generated with the same name (delivered from P&ID) to the file system (different folder). From such a situation may arise problems and errors when working and managing files with a PDM system. New option Use sub folders groups for a better structuring of Piping objects in the CAD assembly tree (PathFinder). New function Zoom to (in Piping context menu, when component or pipeline path is selected) for a better navigation in CAD working window. New function Scroll to (in Piping context menu, when component or pipeline path is selected) for an easier navigation in the CAD assembly tree (PathFinder). Enhanced message for the plausibility check to minimum straight length. o If a violation is recognized, the message does now display the value of min. straight length that is set in the used pipe specification. With this a user gets much better information about how to solve the problem. Smap3D PlantDesign What is new in V12 Page 25

P&ID To-Do List P&ID To-Do List Complete redesign of To-Do List The new user interface of the To-Do List provides much better structure and filter functions when working with large and complex P&ID projects. Smap3D PlantDesign What is new in V12 Page 26

P&ID To-Do List In the P&ID To-Do List Options an administrator can make flexible base settings as well as restrictions to user changes. To save (Export) the settings and share with other computers is also possible now. Smap3D PlantDesign What is new in V12 Page 27

P&ID To-Do List Further improvements in the P&ID To-Do List Existing definitions of the P&ID standard functions Reference designation (e.g. KKS) and Unitdrawings from a P&ID Project, can now also be used in P&ID To-Do List. o For structuring and filtering in the To-Do List, these attributes can be used. New functions Expand / Collapse in the context menu. With these functions you can now control the level (node) from where the tree view should be expanded or collapsed. New function Select in structure in the context menu. With this function it is possible to select all occurrences of a selected entry in the whole To-Do List structure. Smap3D PlantDesign What is new in V12 Page 28

Isometric & PCF Export Isometric & PCF Export Improvements in both applications Support and usage of the information from the P&ID function Reference designation (e.g. KKS). These attributes can now be mapped to the PCF file and the isometric drawing. With the same technology we can use the attributes from the new VC Writer, when written to a 3D occurrence in an assembly, to map them to the PCF file and the isometric drawing. The Smap3D standard parts for bolt connections will now be recognized automatically, without any manual work on the parts. New standard mappings are implemented in the software. Smap3D PlantDesign What is new in V12 Page 29

Isometric & PCF Export New in Isometric only New Filename generator for isometric drawings with settings in Plant Design Administrator and the Isometric options. o The new filename generator and its settings allow a much better control of the filename for Isometric drawings. New enhancement to create Pipeline-References on the isometric drawing, based on the path name of the connected pipeline from 3D Piping Smap3D PlantDesign What is new in V12 Page 30
